I liked the mystery aspect of this, unraveling secrets, etc. But, it did get a little boring at times and I think I expected more of a murder/mystery type book and this isn't quite that.

Well this book was a wild ride from start to finish! It's very fast paced, which had me a bit confused in the beginning as things were moving along a bit too quickly, but once you get into the story it really hard to put the book down!

The story is violent and action packed, but there are also some really funny moments. The scene where Emily and Rick meets for the first time is actually hilarious and definitely gave me a more nuanced view of Emily. Well needed, because with all of the twists and turns it's a bit hard to really get to know the characters.

This thriller didn't quite land for me, though I did finish it because I was curious to see how it would end, and there was a slight twist at the end that was mostly satisfying.

Pros: Fast-paced, highlights big issues like poverty, misogyny and the extreme range of violence against women.

Cons: Doesn't go far beneath the surface of these issues, with characters who aren't as nuanced as I would have liked, and some of the action in the novel feels very logistically unfeasible. The overall conceit of justifiable (or not) violence to punish violence went too far for my taste.

Aymar's latest doesn't disappoint. The book is fast-paced, but Aymar also takes time to create fully developed characters whose motivations, passions, and fears feel real. I love how the song lyrics resonate with the themes and action in the story, and I really enjoyed the sisters' relationship. There is violence in this book, but it never feels gratuitous. Another hit out of the park from a talented, rising star.

I really enjoyed this story and would definitely read more from this author! I've been wanting to read more thrillers and this book was the perfect one for me to start with, It was fast paced, had somewhat relatable themes (messed up family dynamics, grief & mental illness) and there was constantly something happening. There truly were no dull moments!

There's something I've always adored about morally grey characters, especially female morally grey characters and Emily was the perfect depiction of that. She was hilarious and for the most part, believed what she was doing was the right thing to do. I won't spoil anything but the ending broke my heart for her.

Melinda was also an amazing character who didn't seem to ever get a break. I kind of wanted her to just pack up and run away so all of the crazy things going on couldn't impact her life!

Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a fast paced thriller to keep you occupied and thoroughly interested!

I was enthralled by the first chapter with Emily and her drive for vengeance. There was a lot of action while the sisters were trying to find the killers and unexpected twists. Very much enjoyed the story and the ending. Would like to read more of this authors work.

This was a great book. I loved every paragraph, every sentence and every word of this masterpiece! I read it in 12 hours, which is a lot for me to do! It had everything and more laid out in the novel! I sure hope she writes more! I am totally hooked!

No Home for Killers by E.A. Aymar is a masterfully written thriller.
Aymar offers up a compelling and twisty plotline that had me flipping the pages till 1am.
With very well fleshed out characters and a story that was gripping from the very first page.
The characters and story are both vividly written.
The mystery and suspense were so intense it felt like I was right there within the pages.
Chapter after charter, I was unable to put it down!

Thomas & Mercer,
Thank You for your generosity and gifting me a copy of this amazing eARC!

Thanks to Netgalley for allowing me to read this pre release book: No home for Killers by F.E.Aymer with Thomas &Merser.
A gripping read, full of action with some really mixed up characters!! Psychopaths ( they are always worse in pairs!), fantasist ( a very intelligent person with ADHD) an obsessive sadist (what a mixed up boy!!!), a father in denial, a sister who had an emotional breakdown, because she was unable to save the world , unrequited love all over the place! and total dispear for those left. I was totally exhausted by the end. Would definitely recommend it 👌

I had a hard time getting into this one. Just wasn't for me. I found it a little confusing and unrealistic. I didn't much care for the main character.

No Home for Killers is about sisters Emily and Melinda who are trying to figure out who killed their brother Markus. Both sisters had a falling out with their brother after their mother's funeral but are still focused on finding out who his killer is.

I enjoyed how short the chapters were and how fast paced the story was. However I did feel like some of the details in this book were confusing.

Overall I enjoyed this book and was able to read it in 2 days. I'm giving it only 3 stars due to the fact that there were some things that could have been done better.

Thanks to NetGalley for giving me the chance to read this book before it is released in February of 2023.

E.A. Aymar (also published as E.A. Barres for THEY'RE GONE) has written his best book yet with NO HOME FOR KILLERS, a thriller with heart. The novel follows the Pena sisters, one an activist, one a masked vigilante known as Three Strikes, as they deal with the aftermath of their estranged brother's death and search for the truth about his life and his death. It's an involving and emotional journey for them both, but also full of twists and turns for thriller fans. Fans of his previous work will be in for a treat, but it should also appeal to fans of writers like Owen Laukkanen, Chris Holm, and Lisa Regan.

Thank you NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for the copy of No Home For Killers. This was a hard read for me. I liked how we learned about Melinda’s past job and how it affected her. I liked and understood why Emily was doing what she was doing. How it all came together was a little confusing to me because of how the book was written because it jumped around so much. The story was interesting, but the execution of it didn’t grab me.

I really wanted to like this book but I found it hard to follow along, and kind of confusing. It felt like it was all over the place, which made it hard for me to want to keep reading. It also didn't grab my attention and keep me invested. I need books to pull me in and not let go. I really wanted to like this book as the description was so promising. However, I unfortunately just couldn't.

This book was intense and fast paced. The characters were compelling and well developed. I could not put it down and was finished in two sittings. Powerful family story full of secrets and mystery. Highly recommend!!

The pace of this book was everything. Short, fast paced chapters that worked well to convey the point.
Although at times it seemed as though the depth of certain characters wasn't being fully explored, I think that added to the whole point of the book.
Emily is a wonderful character

"People could rarely hide being born into wealth or poverty. Upbringing clung like a stubborn accent." Well that's a hopeful opinion for those of us that would like to change our lot in life or distance ourselves from those who raised us. No Home for Killers is my first novel by E. A. Aymar. It centres upon the story of a trio of siblings, Markus, Melinda and Emily Peña, who have a troubled relationship. The novel starts with musician Markus dead, Melinda cheating on her partner with her boss, and Emily passing her evenings as a "DC-based vigilante" beating up men who are violent with their wives and don't get convicted for their actions. Guessing the siblings' upbringing might not have been ideal either...

"That was Markus, but with emotions. Bathed in emotions, like a weary warrior bathed in blood. And they informed his music, broke his voice into glinting shards others longed to gather."
As the sisters renew contact with each other at the death of their brother, they are drawn into the backstory of his less than savoury life and troubled relationship with women, including his former lover, Rebecca.

"Rebecca reminded Melinda of those women. Those women who had tried and failed to understand why violence was done to them." Melinda isn't particularly likeable or deep, with primitive insights into herself and her own actions, and a bit of a saviour complex with the sex workers she used to work with in a social work capacity: "Melinda had seen this before in her work with broken women. So much in their lives was emotionally compartmentalised that their thoughts were broken into fragments, as if different people assumed different roles."

I found both the thinking, and the writing a bit pedestrian, the character development was lacking and unbelievable, particularly for the female characters, and it made reading the whole book a bit of a chore. I couldn't imagine this story ever happening.
