I was fortunate enough to receive an audio ARC of Lizzie Blake's Best Mistake via netgalley. I found this book to be a cheesy, adorable, and light hearted read. Overall, I enjoyed the book -- it was slightly predictable but in a good way. I enjoyed listening to how Lizzie and Rake take on everything that happens causing their lives to spiral out of control. I like how the author didn't shy away from Lizzie's ADHD but also provided a good representation of it.

I really liked this book. It talks about real life and real life decisions. I love how their friends stick together no matter what. I love how the characters step up and handle the situations that arise.

Lizzie Blakeโ€™s Best Mistake by Mazey Eddings

As soon as I started seeing reviews for this one come in I knew I had to read it! Thanks to @macmillan.audio for the audiobook. Knowing that the main character, Lizzie, has ADHD I was cautiously optimistic about how her character would be portrayed. My son has ADHD and Iโ€™ve learned a ton about it over the last 3 years. Itโ€™s a part of our daily life, and I am always looking for new perspectives to help me learn more.

I am so happy with this book! Lizzieโ€™s ADHD was described so well. It was realistic and factual while also describing the pros and cons of living with it. I absolutely loved when she was trying to decide her ice cream flavour and completely panicked. Those are the kinds of moments I see every day. It also echoed my frustration with trying to fit a neurodivergent individual into a world built for neurotypical people. I wanted to clap at many of Lizzieโ€™s statements. Thank you for this character @mazeyeddings ๐Ÿ‘

Okay now about the other parts of the book! I loved it all. It was so charming and fun (and very steamy). Basically Lizzie has a two night stand with a hunk from Australia, and finds out sheโ€™s pregnant. Her and Rake deal with navigating this new challenge in life as they continue to get to know each other and navigate huge life changes. This made a great audiobook, I flew through it and was rooting for Lizzie from page 1.

My only problem with the audio was that Rakeโ€™s perspective didnโ€™t have an Australian accent! His speaking voice did but not his thoughts. This was so distracting!

Read this if you:
โ€ขare looking for a new book boyfriend
โ€ขwant some good mental health representation
โ€ขlove an unapologetic badass female lead
โ€ขwant to feel all the feels

This is hands down one of my top books this year! I listened to this one on audio and was hooked from the beginning. I went into it blind and would recommend you do too! This book had me laughing out loud, blushing at the steam, and feeling very swoony. Eddings did an amazing job of giving us a brave, messy, complicated, and all-around sweet female lead. I love how Eddings portrayed ADHD in such an authentic way. I also loved how sex-positive this book was! I appreciated Lizzie's comfort and acceptance of herself, her body, and her sexuality.

Now let's talk about the best part... the love interest was a hot Australian. Rake was the absolute sweetest and checked off all the book boyfriend boxes. I loved how gentle and kind he was with Lizzie and how much he
wanted to understand her. Plus on audio, we get that Australian accent which was a nice
touch!

This was everything I was looking for in a summer romance read and Eddings is now an auto-buy author for me!

Thank you NetGalley, Macmillan Audio and St. Martin's Press for this ALC in exchange for an honest review!

I received this audiobook from Netgalley for an honest review.

Let me tell you, I loved this book. I thought the narrators were great. I enjoyed the dual voices, both were well done. I love me some Aussies. It takes a lot for an audiobook to give me butterflies. Print and ebooks tend to do that more for me, but audiobooks I am usually doing something else. This one managed to do it once, maybe twice. I loved the female lead. I found some similarities to myself, recently I had joked about having ADHD. I also thought it was interesting to see the way she thought, to help normalize how some people just have a brain wired another way than what is considered normal, and how easily that can be misinterpreted. I loved the unending patience the male lead had, even when he got frustrated it wasn't that he was upset with her, just that he couldn't articulate how he felt. This book will definitely have me searching out her other works. I was pleasantly surprises. It was a fast and fun read.

"I wish I wasn't like this...this wrecking ball of a person. I wish I didn't act on impulse...do stupid things and break any relationship I'm never lucky enough to ever build."

"I don't think you break things Lizzie...
I'm thinking that I adore you...that I want to murder every person that's ever hurt you; get my knuckles bloody on anyone that ever tried and dim your shine. ..and I'm thinking that I value you on a deep and terrifying level and it makes me scared to lose you because my life would never be the same without you."

How do you hug an audiobook?! After listening to the pure perfection of Lizzie Blake's Best Mistake by the so gets me romantic comedy author Mazey Eddings I just wanted to cuddle with it.

Lizzie has ADHD. She often can't concentrate, is easily distracted and gets extremely frustrated with herself. Despite stuck up parents who thinks she's just inconsiderate, Lizzie knows her self and she tries hard to live by everybody else's standards.

Rake is an Australian businessman who has a two day steamy fling with Lizzie while visiting the U.S. Though he is extremely attracted to her, he wasn't in a place to even try long distance. Then Lizzie calls. She's pregnant and...he shows up. I loved him from that moment. As his past heartbreak unfolds, I learned the meaning of swooning listening to narrator Will Peters portray the epitome of vulnerability and sweetness.

Narrator Summer Morton embodied Lizzie from her hilarious antics as an erotic baker to her hurt from parents whose cruelty is borderline abusive. As these two navigate learning about each other, an unexpected pregnancy, Lizzie's neurodiversity, Rake's fears and living in their own emotions they fall in love and so will you.

I received a free copy of this audiobook from MacMillan Audio via #netgalley for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.

What a fun read with massive steamy parts! Lizzie finds herself on another one-night stand after losing another job due to her ADHD. No one seems to understand the way she works because they donโ€™t stick around long enough. That is, until Rake, her not one but two-night stand which resulted in a pregnancy. Lizzie was very relatable. I love how she sees what others fail to see. This book had me smiling, laughing, and even wincing at parts. So many emotions kept going through me. Lizzie and Rakeโ€™s relationship felt real at times through the ups and downs. It was a pleasure to read about the two of them. I would love to see a sequel to this. The message at the end of the book โ€“ I donโ€™t want to ruin it for you! โ€“ was amazing and everyone can take away something from it. I definitely recommend this one!

Lizzie Blakeโ€™s Best Mistake by Mazey Eddings

โ€ขswipe for synopsis

A โ€œtwo-night-stand that changes everything.โ€

I am not a fan of the โ€œsurprise pregnancyโ€ trope BUT, this book is really centered around the pregnancy (not a hidden surprise at all) and I just loved it! The nature of the story brings the steam right off the bat and WOWZER! It was SO good!!!

My wish for the world is that every woman who encounters an unexpected pregnancy has a supportive man like Rake in their life. Because this guy was a freakin Australian dreamboat! *major swoon*

I loved Lizzieโ€™s journey, the ADHD rep, and how she found healthy ways to manage her symptoms throughout the story.

A sweet romcom full of heart, laughs, and chemistry - I donโ€™t know how you couldnโ€™t enjoy it!

I enjoyed the audio and both sides of the narration! It was well paced and kept my attention throughout!

This book is very steamy (a 5-flame rating) and starts important conversations while highlighting ADHD. I also love how it points out how siblings grow up differently in a family.

I enjoyed this audible book. The plot to the love story was spot on. Love the hook up to friends to lovers trope.

Mazey Eddings does it again! Lizzie Blakeโ€™s Best Mistake gives us an amazing story about relationships: friendships, romantic relationships, and loving yourself. Through Lizzie we learn what itโ€™s like for an adult with ADHD to navigate this world and struggle with people perceiving her as lazy, unmotivated, and outright stupid when in reality she tries very hard at everything she does. I really loved seeing this representation and the way that Eddingsโ€™ explains adult ADHD to the audience.

Of course the romance was also very well written and I personally enjoyed it very much. It had the right amount of spice and emotional relationship struggles that made it feel very realistic and relatable. I will always recommend and auto-buy anything that Mazey puts out into the world!

Thank you to Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for letting me take an early listen to Mazey Eddingโ€™s wonderful new book (published today!) Lizzie Blakeโ€™s Best Mistake!

I havenโ€™t read the first book in this series, A Brush With Love, and I felt that was perfectly fine. I will go back and read it, but this book worked nicely as a stand-alone, IMO.

Lizzie is a Philadelphia-loving woman who is โ€˜disastrously prone to impulsivityโ€. She does indeed make mistakes. She has a one (or two) night stand with an Australian man named Rake and things HAPPEN. I mean, they really do. Are these things a mistake? Judge for yourself!

I really like Lizzie, and I appreciate how nicely the author wove ADHD, Sensory Processing issues and Rejection Sensitive Dysmorphia within the book. I often think of these in terms of children, and I really appreciated learning about an adultโ€™s experience. Speaking of, this is one book where you will not want to miss the dedication.

Lizzie is body-positive and she introduced me to a term that had me laughing- chub rub (when thighs rub together). I also like her mentioning the โ€œ10 Commandments of Womanhoodโ€ and of course she taught me about erotic bakery items.

Rake is not used to sharing himself, although he SHOULD because he is amazing. Heโ€™s a lovable love interest.

The narrators, Summer Morton and Will Peters, are incredible. They voices work really well together and they both have great Australian accents. They sound like they are each speaking for the same person when they switch character parts- they sound like they studied each otherโ€™s voices, which I think is the highest compliment I can give to a dual POV narration!

Lizzie is on the Hot Mess Express ๐Ÿš‚ when she meets the irresistible Rake from Australia -- but for good reason, Lizzie's ADHD is currently uncontrolled and she's struggling to hold it all together. Rake is still healing from some trauma in his life.

After a two-night-stand, they find themselves in an.... interesting situation. Due to their own baggage, neither Lizzie nor Rake are interested in an a relationship, so they agree to keep things platonic. Yet their chemistry is beyond palpable, and they have a hard time keeping their hands (or their feelings) to themselves. This forced proximity, third-person-narrative, laugh-out-loud romantic comedy is sheer joy!! I haven't laughed this much from a book in ages.

THIS is how rom com is done!! The narration was perfection. I'm a huge Summer Morton fan, and Will Peters played the male POV fabulously. ๐Ÿ‘ Lizzie and Rake's personalities really came through in the audiobook.

I probably looked goofy AF walking around with my ear buds in, laughing to myself. ๐Ÿ˜‚ But this book managed to be heartfelt, MEGA steamy, and super funny, all rolled up in one perfect package. It also touched on some heavy and important topics, like living with ADHD as an adult, while not making it too heavy that it veered outside the rom com lane.

I highly recommend to anyone who reads romance and doesn't mind a LOT of spice!๐ŸŒถ๏ธ

Thank you @macmillan.audio and @netgalley for my ALC in exchange for my honest feedback. ๐Ÿ’•

I loved the ADHD rep, and Mazey's Weddings writing is beautiful. Lizzie is such a great character, but Rake isn't as fully realized, and because of that, the romance doesn't always ring true.

This book is everything a romcom is supposed to be. Lizzie is charming, witty, and funny. Rake is everything youโ€™d ever want in a man, emotionally unavailable and Australian. Heโ€™s one of those book boyfriends thatโ€™s going to be hard to forget.

I admit I was a bit hesitant going into this one as the pregnancy trope isnโ€™t my favorite. This book is the exception. I was so excited to see open conversations about a womanโ€™s choice and that Lizzieโ€™s choice was completely her own.

My real favorite part of this book was the mental health representation. I do not have ADHD, but I feel like there can be similar symptoms between my anxiety disorder and ADHD at times. This was handled so eloquently and in Lizzieโ€™s POV we really understand how pervasive racing thoughts can be or self doubt. This is the type of representation Iโ€™ve been searching for and Mazzy absolutely crushed it.

I loved this book so much. I can not recommend enough. Thank you NetGalley & St. Martins Press for access to the audiobook!

I wasnโ€™t able to read the first book off this standalone series, but this one looked super cute. I had the pleasure of reading the e-ARC of it as well as the audio format!

I enjoyed the narration in the audio with dual POVs. However, I wasnโ€™t the biggest fan of the male narrator because i found it odd that he was changing accents between narrations and Rakeโ€™s dialogue. Was it just me?๐Ÿ˜‚

Thank you so much to Netgalley, SMP Romance , St. Martinโ€™s Press and Macmillan Audiofor my e-ARC and ALC.

๐๐ฅ๐ฎ๐ซ๐›๐Ÿ“:
Lizzie has ADHD and lives a very chaotic life. One thing thatโ€™s never gotten her in a mess is her promise to never be close to anyone, hence, her one night stand rule. Until she meets Rake, a tourist from Australia. She breaks her rule but this gets her the biggest surprise of her life, pregnant.

๐‘๐š๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐ : โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ.๐Ÿ’ซ/5. Iโ€™m pretty sure itโ€™s a me problem of not loving this one as much because of the accidental pregnancy and instalove trope. Iโ€™m not the biggest fan of these, and I may have gotten into this blind and should have read the synopsis better prior to diving in. In any case, i did find myself laughing out loud to both the MCโ€™s quirks. Rake is a cinnamon roll and Lizzie is a hot mess. But I am a firm believer of opposites attract, so together they were perfect. I liked the character development in Lizzie, which made me want to finish this book. Her neurodivergence was a great rep and i liked how this book tackled it. If you donโ€™t mind any of the tropes mentioned, Iโ€™d say give this one a go! Itโ€™s a cute rom-com you might enjoy.

This was SO much fun!
I love the neurodiverse character and her friends who love her as she is! I love Rake's personality! I love that the relationship with her mother didn't wrap up super neatly in the end. Absolutely reading her other work!
