What a brave young girl! This book is Estela's heartbreaking story of how her family was split apart when her mother was deported back to Mexico after many years.

She teaches us that kids can use their voices to help make change. The best part of this Audiobook is Estela herself narrating her story. It was good to hear that someone finally listened, but so many more families have have gone through similar tragedies.

Thank you to MacMillan Audio and Netgalley for providing a copy of this Audiobook for my honest review.

The true story of Estela Juarez and her family. When Estela's mother is deported back to Mexico, despite being a business owner and wife of a U.S. veteran, Estela stands up and speaks out. This book is so important and will give young readers an example of how to seek justice and make your voice heard.

[Blurb] When Estela Juarez's mom is deported to Mexico, Estela knows she has to speak up for her family. Told in Estela's own words, Until Someone Listens is a true story about a young girl finding her voice and using it to make change.

[J-Rotty Review] I would rate this book 5 stars. I don't think their family should have had to have split up at all. I really like the background sounds in this book.

[Mom Review] This story broke my heart. I'm so proud of Estela for speaking up and using her voice! This book is amazing. We're also a military family, so this book makes us feel so much. Our emotions were all over the place. So much sympathy to this family! Everyone should buy this book to get Estela's story out there! What an incredible human!

The production quality on this audiobook was AMAZING!!! The sounds and background noises were phenomenal. Highly recommend.

Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio, Macmillan Young Listeners for the audio version of this book. I was able to listen to this book with my daughters. They both enjoyed the book ( ages 6 and 12) They were both able to take away good information from this audio book. They liked that a young author both wrote and read the book. When the author is able to read the audio book you really get a feel for what voice and emotion they want thier book to be heard in.

In 2018 after nearly 20 years of living in the United States Estela’s mother, Alejandra, was deported to Mexico due to a change in immigration laws. This left the military family of four heartbroken. Nine year old Estela knew she had to do something to bring her mother home. So she wrote letters. Letters to news outlets, local lawmakers, members of congress, and to the President. Her video message to the 45th president gained wide spread attention. With Estela’s hard work and determination her family has been reunited. The family is now working towards gaining a permanent legal residence for Alejandra.

Wow! What an informative and sweet and (sometimes scary) audiobook. She explains how her family came to be. This would be a wonderful book to introduce immigration to children. This book shows the importance of standing up for one's self! I really appreciated the fact that the narrator was the one sharing her own story! So brave!!

Thank you Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for providing this audiobook ARC.

Until Someone Listens is a poignant book written in the perspective of a young girl in the United States whose mother has been deported to Mexico. She explains how her family came to be and illustrates their unique personalities well. This would be a wonderful book to introduce immigration and deportation to children. Estela finds her voice and writes to the president and US Congress. This book shows the importance of standing up for one's self and family in the face of obstacles. I really appreciated Estela's story and that she narrated the audiobook herself.

Thank you Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for providing this audiobook ARC. All thoughts are my own.

“I carry hope on my wings”

I love books narrated by the author. All of our students who have been separated from their families by deportation need this book.

I love how Estela shows character strengths of persistence and determination in the way she kept perusing the government and news agencies to help her family.

The authors note at the end is essential to understand what this family (and so many others) have gone through.

Thank you to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to the ARC of this audiobook and give my honest opinion in return .
