"A Streetcar Named Murder" is a fun mystery. Although I didn't think that there were enough clues for the average mystery buff to solve before it was revealed. The story was enjoyable and interesting enough to keep reading until the end.
When Valerie Cooper is pondering how to cope with some financial difficulties, a local realtor offers to sell her house for a very nice sum, over a million dollars. However, this realtor is also someone whom she has had difficulties with as part of a parents group when her sons were in High School.
Then, Valerie receives a surprise in the form of an inheritance that should solve her financial woes. The problem is that she has never heard of the deceased although he was apparently the uncle of her late husband. Part of that inheritance is 75% ownership of an antique store.
As Valerie is trying to sort out this mystery, she finds yet another mystery and with it a dead body. The body has a jeweled knife from the antique store she works at and co-owns.
Just who is this killer and why is she now the target?

When Valerie Cooper, a widower and empty nester receives a letter saying she has inherited quite a bit of estate and part ownership of a business her life becomes much more busy. And when she discovers a body much more interesting. Will she find out why her husbands estranged uncle left everything to her and her sons when she didn’t even know he existed? Will she be able to find out who the killer is before suspicion is cast on her? I love that this book is based in New Orleans and the author does a fantastic job of setting the scene. A little slow start on the story line and some parts were frustrating but overall a fun quick mystery read. Thank you #NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review

This ARC was provided to me via Kindle, from Crooked Lane and #NetGalley. Thank you for the opportunity to preview and review. Opinions expressed are completely my own.

Another perfectly done cozy mystery. This new series is a boon to the already well established Crooked Lane Books catalog. T.G. Herren writes about charming characters, lovely settings, spellbinding mysteries.

NOLA, widow, amateur-sleuth, family, family-drama, family-dynamics, famous-author, inheritance, murder, murder-investigation, krewe, law-enforcement, business-partners, secrets, vengeance, soap-opera****

A convoluted and suspenseful tale with vivid imagery. The setting is the great and wonderful city of NOLA with all of its quirks and delights which kind of makes it into a character itself. The people characters are engaging (even if one is just an awful person), but sometimes I do wonder about the main character. The investigating at first regards a hitherto unknown relative of her deceased fireman husband and the will he left, and then it gets really bizarre. But I liked it a lot and as it is the first in series, I just know it will keep getting better!
I requested and received a free e-book copy from Crooked Lane Books via NetGalley. Thank you!
