Lying Beside You by Michael Robotham is another great book by this author. As part of the series, this book continues the story of Evie and Cryus. I've yet to read the previous books and now I desperately want to because this one was so good. Michael Robotham is a master at writing compelling mysteries mixed with a police procedural slant. I have read most of his books. The characters here are well developed with tragic pasts. Evie stands out in particular as quirky, and off-the-charts damaged. Mixed in with that is the release of Cryus' brother Elias, who murdered his family, and you have a story with a wealth of dark undertone and dread. I love this book and will likely read it again to fully grab on to every word again. Highly recommend.

Once again, my man Robotham hits it out of the park! Lying Beside You is a glorious addition to the Cyrus and Evie world. I love the characters and the build-up of conflicts and mystery. I would say that this book cements Cyrus as a solid member of the Robotham family and puts him equal with Joe. Evie is a character all unto herself. She is amazing and wonderful and as a reader I only want her to find love and understanding and who she is in the world in these books. I can't wait for the next one and am 100% a Robotham reader. One of my favorite thriller/suspense writers.

Michael Robotham is the writer that I most look forward to finding a new book from each year. When library patrons ask me for a mystery/suspense author this is who I turn them to and each time I'm thrilled to see them bring back book after book by Robotham.

Lying Beside You continues the story of Cyrus and Evie. This time Cyrus is dealing with the release of his brother from prison. His brother who brutally murdered their entire family. At the same time there is the case of a woman who has gone missing, with similarities to another case.

I really enjoyed this book and most all of Robotham's works because of the characters he creates. Cyrus and Evie have a complex relationship that can't be defined as simply as we like to look at most relationships.

I look forward to the next book and I hope to see more about Cyrus and Evie. Will we see more about her past? The people looking for her...? Can Cyrus continue to protect her? How will their relationship evolve??
