A page turner that will keep you reading until the end. Lots of twists that will have you second guessing who is guilty. The characters are believable and well developed. Great read

Hidden Pieces is filled with twists and turns. Those twists and turns are what kept me tethered. Small town, sheriff who has his own demons, rookie deputy sheriffs, some shady characters, characters who suffered tragedies, some drug involvement, and it all revolves around an abducted 14 year old girl. I’m in the minority with the few reviews I’ve read that have been published. Those were all 4 and 5 stars. I’m giving it 3 stars. At the risk of creating spoilers, I must refrain from specifics. I found too much implausible. I kept thinking about many parts and characters long after I finished reading and found myself saying “what?” Read the book……it’s fast paced. Try and figure out who the abductor is whilst having fun in the process. #NetGalley, #HiddenPieces.

A very well written book.
Small town Sheriff Jax has lost everything, his beautiful daughter to cancer then his wife, to a broken marriage after the loss of their little girl. Jax is on the brink of ending it all, when he gets a call from The station to pleases pick up he phone. He wants to ignore it but picks up. That phone call saves his life.
After a young 14 year old girl is missing, he has to find her. There are a lot of similarities to a case he never sold 25 years ago, is the killer back? Jax won’t stop until he finds her.
This is a slow burn thriller, well worth reading. Can you put all the pieces together to solve it.

Absolutely loved every bit of this book. This author has a new fan, I am in love with her writing. The book starts off strong and has you hooked immediately. I enjoyed each character and how they evolve and develop based on their individual loses and traumas. Very suspenseful and highly thrilling trying to find out who kidnapped Allison, yet they are all guilty in some way. A must read from this author.

In Hidden Pieces, author Mary Keliikoa has written an incredibly deep and troubled character in Jax Turner. As Sheriff, he's pretty much coasting through his job after the death of his daughter and subsequent divorce... he's close to rock bottom. Then, a local girl disappears which ties back to a case Jax investigated as a detective. WOW WOW WOW... the twists and plotlines are incredible! There's so much in this book to absolutely love - and stay up well past your bed time to just read one more chapter! I certainly hope to read more Jax Turner adventures! I have not read previous books by Mary Keliikoa, but after Hidden Pieces, she's definitely on my list to read more of! Thank you to Level Best Books for the ARC of this book. All the expressed opinions are my own.

I really enjoyed reading this mystery novel, it was what I wanted when I read the description. This had a great premise and I enjoyed the start of the Misty Pines Mystery series. The story had a great mystery in it and I was trying to solve it with the characters, there was a tense atmosphere and that was a great joy. The characters themselves were well-written and they felt like real people. I can't wait to see more in this series.

"Which meant he was not only old enough to have committed the original crimes against Madeline and Elena twenty-five years ago, but he’d resided in the state and in close enough proximity to do so."

“Sleepy Misty Pines had woken up and not in a good way.”
Allison is a freshman in high school and has gone missing one morning while waiting the school bus. She is thought to have ran away after a fight with her mother Emily.

Elena Massey is Allison’s (ex)stepmother who was abducted with her sister. She was lucky to get away but unfortunately her sister Madeline did not. On the 25 year anniversary of her sister’s death her stepdaughter is now missing. The case is a copycat of what happened to her and her sister.

Jax Turner is the Sheriff of Misty Pines and has been a on a downhill spiral since his daughter died five years ago and his wife left him. He is ready to end it all when he gets the call about Allison. He was on the Massey case all those years ago. As time is running out he is determined to find Allison and solve the cold case from all those years ago.

The story Hidden Pieces was such a fun read with a medium pace. It had so many twist and turns. The ending had me on the edge of my seat!! I was shocked!! It was a fun mystery.

Sheriff Jax Turner lost his daughter to cancer and lost his marriage because he could not a
handle the grief. With nothing left for him to carry on, he is thinking of ending his life. Because no one needs him now.

But then a schoolgirl, Allison, vanishes and with all the rookies in the department, he's the only one who can help. Allison's backpack is found in a neighbor's backseat who later they come to know is a sex offender.

Is this case so easy to solve and will Jax be able to find Allison before it's too late?

The epilogue didn't pull me as much as the impeccable first chapter of the book. Even though the way the story starts to open with casting suspicions from one character to other was amazing, the most beautiful part of the book was character development. I loved how author depicted grief and trauma through the characters. And the plus points are the twists that you don’t see coming.

I thank NetGalley and the publisher for giving me the ARC copy for my honest review.

The introduction had me wide eyed and hooked and desperate to read more.
This book has it all from missing girls, drugs, abduction, murder to illegal immigrants!

Just as you think you figured it all out there's a brand new twist and each surprising reveal had me on the edge of my seat with a fast pulse rate!
With a serial killer, a kidnapper, a missing brother, the past and present colliding and culminating in the ultimate shocking ending.
Jax' s raw pain had me tearing up a few times, and the storyline was so surprising I never would have guessed the ending. I loved it!
