The Beach Escape, by Rachel Magee, is the story of the new life found by Dr. Molly Lawrence, DVM, when she begins her short stint as interim veterinarian while the actual veterinarian is out on maternity leave. After having discovered that her former fiancé and business partner was cheating with her former best friend, Molly felt working with this organization would get her away from an unendurable position. So with little notice when the expected baby makes an unexpected early appearance, Molly finds herself in a small beachfront condo in Emerald Cove, Florida, and figuring out the ropes of the new office.

The last patient of her first day is listed as Chompers with no other information. When she calls the patient and person to the exam room, Molly finds only the person, Grant Torres, and an offer for a ride to the Emerald Cove Turtle Rehab Center in the adapted turtle ambulance. It seems the vet she is substituting for also works with the rehab center and Chompers needs a final exam in order to be ready for release. Upon her first visit to the center, Molly is reluctantly on board, unsure of her own skills, to be their on call vet while she is in Emerald Cove.

The center is a family affair with Grant as the director, his sister Claire in charge of the rehab, and his cousin Mateo in charge of operations. Plus, Grant lives right out back on his large sailboat tied to the dock. The Rehab Center was created by Grant’s parents and when they had both passed, Grant returned from the university where he was a PhD candidate in ocean studies. At that time his sister was a teen and he could always pick up where he left off, right?

When Grant meets Molly somehow that seems less important until he gets an offer that would be insanity to ignore. Besides, Molly is putting up road blocks even after the many local adventures they share. Plus, she will be leaving anyway, right?

This is a delightful story with understandably flawed characters set in a background of a seaside rescue. I very much enjoyed this book and I do recommend it!

This is a cute sweet turtle filled beach romance. Great for summer. If you enjoy these low angst - Hallmark romances with great characters- this is perfect for your beach read. Molly is a vet that learns all about a small town beach town life and turtles. Grant is trying to figure out his future with animals. Great friends with this one for Molly.

The narrators did a great job with this one with the two POV.

This is the cutest little summer romance book! I especially loved that they were saving sea turtles, such amazing animals!

After a failed engagement Molly is looking for something new. She decides to take a temporary vet job in a beach town while the normal vet is on maternity leave. She immediately meets Grant and he helps her get involved with their turtle rescue. In return for her services she requests Grant takes her on some excursions to get to know the area.

What she wasn’t planning on was getting to know Grant. When it’s time for them both to leave town they come to some realizations about their relationship with each other.

After an engagement gone wrong, Molly Lawrence decides to take a job as a mobile vet and ends up in Emerald Cove covering for a maternity leave. One her first day, she meets Grant Torres, a marine biologist, with a patient she’s not sure she’ll know how to treat, a large sea turtle. With the normal vet out, the Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Grant runs needs Molly’s help. She reluctantly agrees and in return, Grant will show her the sights of Emerald Cove. Molly knows that she’s not ready for anything more than friendship, but Grant sees forever with her and is determined to make her his.

I haven’t needed tissues for a book in a long time. The Beach Escape was so very sweet, romantic, and sad. I felt all the feels and cried all the tears, both happy and sad! There couldn’t be a more perfect beach romance!

This was a cute summer read!

The story follows Kansas native Molly as she embarks on her new adventure in Florida after her fiancé dumps her at their rehearsal dinner. Molly only intends on staying in Emerald Cove for 3 months while she works a contract for work, however things have her second guessing the length of her stay after she meets Grant. The two instantly hit it off, and the next three months are a whirlwind.

For me, I absolutely loved the Hallmark movie feel of this book (as I should, since it is a Hallmark book). There were a lot of funny and feel good moments, and also a few romantic scenes that were described so perfectly that I clearly had an image of the scenes in my head.

An aspect that I really enjoyed from this book was the turtle rescue side. I really liked reading about all of the turtles, and I felt like I was being brought along for Hope’s recovery.

Where I felt like the story was lacking a bit was in the ending. I felt like the conclusion was a little rushed at the end, and I was hoping to get a bit more of Molly and Grant’s story before the epilogue started.

Overall, I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a clean romance read, and who enjoys Hallmark movies and stories.

I loved this book. This is one of those books I had a hard time putting down to do any chores. The ending was so cute.

The Beach Escape is Summer reading, or in my case, listening at it’s best. It is about Molly, who is a traveling vet reinventing herself after a failed engagement. She becomes involved with Emerald Cove Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center. Here she meets Grant with whom she experiences all kinds of adventures. As you would expect, these adventures lead to feelings of friendship and of course love. But what will happen when her contract is over, and Grant goes for the job of his dreams??
I received an ARC audio copy of this book from NetGallery. While I enjoyed the book, the 2 narrators, Kristin Price and Tim Campbell, distracted me and I found it difficult to feel immersed in the story. I would suggest reading this book instead. Pretty sure this one will be made into a movie.

A great beach read! I really enjoyed listening to THE BEACH ESCAPE by Rachel Magee, narrated by Kristin Price and Tim Campbell.

The story is charming and the narrators did a great job and made the listening experience very pleasant.

The book is about a young veterinarian with a broken heart who decides to start over somewhere else. She ends up signing up for a 3 months replacement in a vet office in the Florida panhandle. She will meet interesting people, discover new interests, face challenges and learn to face her feelings in a beautiful setting.

Thank you NetGalley and Hallmark Publishing for this ARC of the audiobook THE BEACH ESCAPE in exchange for my honest opinion.

This is an easy book that probably could be read in one day as a beach read. Traveling Veterinarian Molly Lawrence finds herself in the gorgeous beach town of Emerald Cove, Florida where she’ll fill in for the local vet who’s on maternity leave. Freshly hurt from a bad relationship, Molly has no plans for romance. Then she meets Grant Torres, director of the local Turtle Rescue and Rehab Center. The turtles steal her heart, and her developing friendship with Grant is nice. Gavin has a chance to work at his dream job, and Molly has a chance to love again. The story is underlain with hope and trust that loving again is possible. The characters are easy to relate to and are likable. I would recommend this as a contemporary story for an easy read.

As a fan of Hallmark movies and escapist romance novels, I really enjoyed this story, especially how nature and animals (specifically turtles) brought Molly and Grant together.

There were fun instances of humor and teasing between them as their relationship developed, the expected misunderstandings of most romance stories, encouraging friends, and a lot of soul searching by two people, each trying to find their own way, only to realize that finding a way together might actually be better.

The setting of Emerald Cove was nicely presented to us, and I loved imagining the various places in it.

The only real drawbacks for me were that the audio quality of the female narrator's voice was not very good. It almost sounded computer generated at points. And for both narrators, I often wasn't certain if they were saying "Grant" or "Brad." So it took me a while to figure out what the male romantic lead's name actually was.

But despite those flaws, the story carried itself well. I loved how both Grant and Molly accepted each other for who they were without trying to change the other.

Overall, very enjoyable story if you like clean HEA romances.

Thanks to Rachel Magee, Hallmark Publishing and NetGalley for the advance review copy.

This is a sweet story about turtles, love , heartbreak and nature. Sadly , this book did not live up to what I hoped it would be.

I felt like the story between Grant and Molly was not developed enough before we were supposed to believe they had feelings for each other. It felt like 'Hi... oh I have feelings for you' . I would have much preferred a bit transpired between them first. There was an element missing from this story - a few plot points were thrown in there without any details about them before or after. It lead to those plots feeling empty.

If this had been a movie on the Hallmark channel - I would have watched it. It ended how a Hallmark movie should .... but I felt like there could be more.

The Beach Escape is a very sweet romance from Rachel Magee and Hallmark Publishing. This is my first book by this author and publisher. The story is about Molly, who moved to Emerald Cove, Florida after a heartbreak as a visiting veterinarian, and Grant, a sea turtle rescuer, who is super kind and thoughtful. The story reminded me a bit of the incredibly popular Virgin River series by Robyn Carr. Similarities: interesting locals who are overwhelmingly welcoming to a newcomer; and the single, hot guy in town falls for the new girl. Differences: No steamy sex scenes, the conflict does not involve crime or anything morally bad, and lots of sea turtle rescue talk. I used the word "sweet" before to describe the story, and that is what this is, which is totally fine. However, sweet can sadly be boring for some of us (like me). If you are looking for an incredibly easy, light read, with happy and sweet characters, this is for you!

I honestly reviewed an arc provided by NetGalley and Hallmark Publishing. All opinions are my own.

I will preface by saying this is not something I'd typically read, so I am not the target audience. I tend to find Hallmark cloyingly sweet and avoid anything branded Hallmark. But.... turtles. I am here for the turtles.

Molly arrives at Emerald Cove for a new start- she is a veterinarian covering the local vet's maternity leave. Grant runs the local turtle rescue. Molly agrees to work at the rescue and in lieu of monetary compensation, she wants Grant to take her on adventures. They both find they enjoy each other, but Molly is here temporarily and Grant has an opportunity of a lifetime.

So, again, not the target audience. I enjoyed the non-turtle stuff more than I expected. For the most part. There were times where it dragged- especially when Molly interacted with her neighbors. Most of that was superfluous to the story. The turtle stuff was wonderful.

I listened to the audiobook and was not familiar with either narrator. Kristin Price narrated Molly's chapters and Tim Campbell narrated Grant's. Both, but especially Kristin Price, were kind of robotic and flat. It was especially noticeable when I would pick the book back up- after a while you kind of got used to it and it was less noticeable. Also, Kristin Price pronounced Torres like Taurus and it got on my nerves.

Anyway, if Hallmark stories are your thing, you will love this. You may want to stick to the print/ebook edition though. The audio isn't awful, simply mediocre at best.

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Rachel Magee opens up in a small town in Florida where her main character, Molly, is the new veterinarian in town temporarily. When an odd patient arrives on her first day of work, she finds herself catapulted into adventure and romance that she had not expected.

This is the classic Hallmark, heartwarming story that leaves you saying "Awww", with its witty dialogue and sweet love story. The author does a fantastic job at describing the scenic beauty that a beachside town in Florida has to offer and it makes it possible to immerse yourself into the story with these descriptions. Not only that, I found myself learning about loggerhead turtles along the way!

This book may have its predictabilities but that is the charm of Hallmark, it is the comfy read that makes it great for the beach. Or even for those bitterly cold winter months where you can pretend you are on the beach as you sit in front of the fireplace.

After Molly's fiance left her for her best friend, she decides she needs a change and lots of adventure. She becomes a short-term, traveling veterinarian and has her first placement in Emerald Cove, Florida. She plans to go in just for change and a different scenery, but she ends up forming friendships and connects that she was not expecting. Molly meets Grant who manages the turtle rescue in Emerald Cove and she definitely notices that he is attractive. They spend more time together as one of her assignments is to take care of the turtles at the rescue, but will it be enough to make her stay? Grant also deals with his potential change and of course it comes at a time when he is not sure what he wants.

I thought it was really cute and I loved how they stayed friends while working together while teetering on the verge of dating.

A sweet romance. I could see this being turned into a movie. I loved the setting. Who doesn’t love turtles and paradise.

This book wasn't for me. On a positive note, it was well written and the characters were well developed. You feel like you actually know these characters. The story itself was just a bit slow. Nothing seemed to really happened. I felt like I was just reading the mundane day to day details of someone's day. I almost threw in the towel a few times but did actually finish it. Although it was pretty predictable and I knew how it would end from the beginning. I did like the narrators, they felt realistic and believable as the characters. I didn't hate the book, I just didn't love it and felt a little bored.

The Beach Escape is a cute story with lessons in moving on, following your dreams and learning to move on after heartbreak. The character development in the story is so good that it kept me wanting more and more of their stories. This is for all lovers of light romance reads with a deeper message. Rachel MaGee is a new author for me however I will definitely be working to read more of her works!

The Beach Escape is the perfect light-hearted, feel-good beach read! Nothing in this story felt rushed, forced, or fake. Holly is a down to earth vet who accepts a traveling assignment in an effort to get away from home and increase her adventurous side. I love that she fits right in and is willing to admit her limitations and celebrate her strengths. Grant is just as endearing and quickly drew me in with his charm and dedication to the turtles. I love the focus on family and friendship. Holly’s quick love and admiration for the turtles kind of made me re-evaluate how I have always thought of them. I really enjoyed the friendships that were forged along the way (morning coffee on the balcony) and the sense of true community.
I had the added bonus of listening to an audiobook narrated by Kristin Price and Tim Campbell. I loved the dual narrators as the two perspectives were shared along the course of the story. Both voices fit the character, the pace, and the emotions being expressed. Both narrators have a calm and soothing tone, perfect for a beach story.
I received a complimentary audiobook from the publisher via NetGalley and all opinions expressed are solely my own, freely given.

This story is very “Hallmark”. It’s a sweet, touching, clean romance about two individuals whose past has them making plans for a future in which their lives in Emerald Cove, FL is just a stepping stone.
Molly Lawrence’s dreams of marriage, a white picket fence, kids and a veterinarian clinic with her fiancee come tumbling down when he decides his dreams are with someone else.
She’s left her hometown in Kansas and now has become a traveling veterinarian. Her latest job is in Emerald Cove, FL .
She never expected to either meet Grant Torres who is in charge of the local turtle rehab center, or to have a loggerhead turtle as a patient.
From that moment on, Molly’s life changes and so does Grant’s.
This is a feel good story , with delightful characters . It’s a story about hope, new friendships, and second chances in life and love.
I was entrusted a copy of this audiobook by Netgalley and Dreamscape Media.
