I am so glad I listened to this audiobook. The narrator was excellent and the story kept me on the edge of my seat! The author did a fantastic job of sprinkling in little things to make you not know what is going on and questioning everyone.

this is going to be a pass for me. I wanted to like it and I really tried. I ended up finishing it but the ending just didn't do it for me.

Hannah’s doctor husband Daniel is often away from their isolated property, leaving Hannah lonely. So, Hannah decides to renovate the barn on their property into a holiday rental cottage. The extra money and company are nice until the Jones family arrives. The Jones family is boisterous, messy, and downright disrespectful. However, Hannah doesn’t want to upset them because she needs good reviews to keep her cottage up and running. Will the Jones family ever leave or is Hannah stuck with them forever?

This was my first book by Miranda Rijks and it definitely won’t be my last. The narration was great and kept me listening to find out what would happen next. The book was a wild ride with unpredictable twists; I couldn’t put it down. I highly recommend it to anyone that enjoys fast-paced thrillers! I give it 4/5 stars.

Another winner for this author!

Kept my attention the entire time, and was an interesting concept to this mystery, one I haven’t heard before! With the eta of air b & b’s! Vrbo, this storyline will definitely make the top ten list of disaster tenants!

I have always enjoyed this authors stories and can’t wait to listen/read more!

The narration was great! Hannah had me on edge for most of the story. There are some unlikeable characters and tired tropes used, so beware. The twists were pretty predictable for me, But the journey was still a fun and lively ride that I enjoyed!

In true Miranda Rijks style this thriller will grab your attention from page one! Well written with interesting characters this story kept me engaged. The twists and turns keep you guessing until the very end.

I couldn't get into this book and I think it's b/c I really, really hated the couple and their kid. For some reason, my intense hatred of them made me not want to finish the book. This is a mean problem and not an author or plot problem, I think. I will definitely be picking up more books by this author.

This mystery/thriller had a few unexpected twist and turns. I found the main characters Hannah and her husband to not be very likable. Hannah was very naive and at times she seemed to be way too passive. Her husband appeared to be too domineering but also for a surgeon not very intelligent. I appreciated the way the author tried to show the guests as being “peculiar”. The book held my interest. and although at times was predictable, there were also elements of surprise. I would read another by this author and would recommend it to others who enjoy books that have a bit of suspense in them.

Who doesn’t like a good dose of cray-cray? And these guests from hell were just that! Yikes!! The first half of this book was riveting and suspenseful. I could feel my skin prickling with foreboding. As the plot picked up, however, I was left a bit disappointed in the direction it turned. Thank goodness the very ending salvaged it for me. There were a couple of decent twists.

Hannah is a stay home mother of two, married to Daniel, a successful cardiologist. To keep herself busy, she renovates a barn on their property and decides to run a short term rental business. Her first guests are Nadia, Michael and their daughter. Although the guests initially seem friendly enough, they become increasingly annoying and intrusive. Hannah can’t wait for them to leave. But as their checkout date comes and goes and they remain in the property, Hannah starts to wonder if there’s something bigger going on.

This is one of those books in which none of the characters are likeable. I found Hannah’s character to be weak through much of the story and this sometimes bothered me. However, her transformation made the ending a success. Great concept! And fairly well executed. The audiobook performance was average. Only one narrator and told from Hannah’s perspective.

This book was well written and narrated wonderfully. I really thought I knew how the book would end, but I was so very wrong, and I'm glad. What a wild ride from beginning to end!

Miranda Rijks is a new author for me and I’m happy to add her to my “must read” authors list! The Visitors was creepy and fun, and the narrator for the audiobook is fantastic! This was a very fast paced and satisfying thriller.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with the opportunity to read and review this book.

Well, this wasn’t a bad story by any means. It definitely kept you entertained until the very end where it felt like it drug on and on.

The ending also didn’t have any real twists. It was a bit disappointing.

The beginning was definitely a wild ride and made you want to continue through the ending. Definitely a lot of unlikeable characters including, Hannah. Very naive.

The Visitors was a rollercoaster ride of pure tension. Mike and Nadia came straight from hell into Hannah's life, and I loved every second of their stay. Sorry, Hannah. The Visitors has a perfectly balanced mix of the narrator's unreliability, gaslighting, and well-paced escalation. Perfect for those looking for a quick, intense read with a satisfying end.

Penelope Rawlins brought the story to life in the most compelling and addicting way possible. Her pitch, tone, and pacing were spotless and immersed me entirely in the story.

Predictable mystery/thriller. The first half was good, but the thread was dropped and seemed rushed at the end. Some may like this and it is a perfectly good mystery novel if you're not as picky as I am.

If you are someone who is considering starting a bed-and-breakfast (AKA holiday rental), this book will scare you away from that idea! It is totally believable! For the rest of you, I'd highly recommend this thriller!
Hannah is a mother of two who has restored a building on their property to be a holiday rental. She takes this business seriously and knows it's all about the ratings her renters post on social media. Her husband, a cardiologist who is frequently away from home, thinks it's just a hobby for her.

Her second set of renters are noisy, demanding and messy. I won't spoil the story line, but it gets much worse each day, to the point that Hanna wonders how she and her business are going to survive the experience. And, she gets little support from her husband.

I was riveted to the story, enhanced by the excellent narration that gave each character a voice that matched their personality. You'll be amazed at how this big dilemma resolves. I just recommended it to my friend who rents two properties as a "must read."

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for sending this audiobook for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

This is an entirely serviceable thriller, full of complex plot devices and beautiful English countryside. Unfortunately, it also features a heroine with Jennifer-Weiner-level wimpiness who drowns in a glass of water!

Hannah, a former music teacher, is a mom to two young children, wife to thoracic cardiac surgeon Daniel, and the proud proprietress of a brand new vacation cottage that's just been renovated. Her new guests show up for their weeklong rental and they are clearly low-class (the horror!), but Hannah grits her teeth and welcomes them. Her fears are soon realized when Mike and Nadia take extreme liberties with the property, having wild parties and asking Hannah to mind their young daughter. Hannah just sucks it up instead of putting her foot down, so it's a bit difficult to feel too bad for her.

Mike is boorish and unattractive, while "Nads" is younger, petite and pretty; I assumed that this would be a case of a long con, wherein these two players were pretending to be married for the sake of the big payoff, but that isn't where the story takes us. The week's visit stretches into 2 after Mike injures himself on a loose flagstone on the cottage porch. Again, Hannah allows herself to be walked all over in the face of a threatened lawsuit (why didn't she have them sign a hold harmless agreement?), canceling the next booking and paying for the canceled couple's stay in a 5 star hotel nearby. This incurs the wrath of Hannah's increasingly absent husband, who only deigns to grace the family with his presence a few nights a week, usually only calling after the kids are in bed. Hannah rolls over for Daniel, also, meekly doing his bidding on the odd occasions he is home.

At a certain point in the story, it almost seems like Daniel is in cahoots with Mike and Nadia, but his behaviors are never explained. It all leads up to the allegedly "nerve shredding" climax: after showing up late to their son's birthday party (Daniel ran off after he and Hannah fought), he proceeds to drink too much wine and pushes the injured Mike off a patio after they argue. Later, he continues drinking, retiring to the guest room. Hannah awakes to the sound of Nadia screaming - Mike is dead, his head bashed in with a wine bottle. Daniel attempts resuscitation, but it's too late. Mike is dead -- and Daniel is arrested for his murder.

Of course, it's up to Hannah to save the day. She fends off one of the townsfolk who's after blackmailing her over a story about Daniel having a road rage incident that would make him look like a man with a temper (which he is), navigates her social circle while being shunned, and sets out to track down Nadia, finding out a terrible secret in the process (it shocks her, but anyone paying attention saw the writing on the wall).

The ending is fairly ridiculous, but that seems to be the trend these days. It's not exactly the satisfying ending I was hoping for, with Hannah growing a spine, although it sews the story up nicely, I suppose.

I thought it was a good read. Very predictable and somewhat repetitive. I would recommend because storyline is decent but just not my cup of tea

First half was good, but the ending disappointed me. Felt like it was written to just wrap everything up in a package. Its a domestic thriller with a dum dum of a wife

This book was fantastic. It did seem to go a little slow here and there but it was totally worth it for the payoff.
Hannah has what most would consider a perfect life. She is married to a highly successful cardiologist, Daniel, and is a full time mom to two children. The only thing that seems to be missing is something all her own. A project of sorts. So she puts everything she has into converting their barn into a stunning holiday/vacation rental.
Soon, she gets her second visitors and things take a terribly dark turn. Nadia and Mike (and their daughter). They are loud, dirty, and incredibly disrespectful. Hannah is absolutely infuriated with the way they behave and worries they will damage her beloved barn. However, that should be the least of her worries.
Nadia and Mike aren’t just here for the week, they have a deeper and much darker purpose to their stay and Hannah’s entire life is at risk of being destroyed.
I don’t want to tell you more about this because I would possibly give something away and I would hate to do that!
This is one of those books that is just really well written and one that keeps hooked because you just can’t wait to see what happens next. I definitely recommend giving this one a bit of a read. It’s so much fun!
If you get the chance to grab the audio book for this title, go for it. The narrator is absolutely fantastic.
