I'm super excited to read the full version of this book. The sampler was already greater than I expected and seeing as I loved the first book I have a feeling this one will be right up there with the first installment of the series!

This sampler consists of the first six chairs chapters and made me even more excited for the book to come out. I was happy to see more of Serilda and Gild together. Can't wait to see how everything gets resolved!

Aahhhh!! As a sampler let’s just say this tasty morsel did its job- I cannot wait to devour the entire sequel to Gilded! The issues and passions from Gilded meld into Cursed and continue the story seamlessly, and just as I was totally hooked, the sampler ended! Well played, Meyer, I will be back for more!

Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Children's Publishing Group for the opportunity to read an ARC sample of this book for an honest review. (Publish Date: November 8, 2022)

Description: New York Times bestselling author Marissa Meyer concludes her young adult retelling of Rumpelstiltskin in Cursed, the sequel to Gilded.

The sample I received of “Cursed” by Marissa Meyer was so amazingly well written that I didn’t initially realize it was a sequel to the book “Gilded”! Now I definitely want to read “Gilded” before this book is released so I can be fully caught up on all the backstory before continuing to read this fascinating story.

My only small request is for the author write in a bit more detail about how the characters look. Maybe they were fully described in “Gilded” but I was having difficulties picturing them while reading this sample with so little information.

Overall, I was memorized by this sample (along with the book's cover!) and will most definitely be purchasing the full book once it’s released! I recommend it to anyone who loves retellings of old fairy tale favorites.

So excited for this book!! This sampler has me so amped. I already have the book on preorder and I’m definitely going to be rereading book 1 before reading this.

I hadn't realized that this was for the second book in the series when I started this. This sampler was a good time though! I was able to get a good understanding of what happened in the first book. I liked the spin on the Rumpelstiltskin fairytale. The romance in this series seems sweet I am an interested to see how one of the relationships plays out in the rest of this book.

This sampler is exactly what was needed to remind me why I loved the first book so much! Fun characters and this is set up to be an interesting sequel. What with the impending nuptials and all. So excited!

Thanks to Marissa Meyer, NetGalley, and Macmillan Children's Publishing Group for letting me take a peek at this sampler! Since this wasn’t the full book, I can’t give a true review, but even just the first few chapters have gotten me hooked. Marissa Meyer always puts such a creative spin on her stories and I can’t wait to see how Serilda and Gild navigate the pregnancy and the curse.

Since this was just a sampler, I don't feel like I can give it a full rating. I enjoyed it and can't wait for the full story. I would feel more comfortable reviewing it on Goodreads after I've finished the story in its entirety.

This was a great sampler! I loved reading Gilded, so I was excited to get to read a preview of Cursed. I was not disappointed. Looking forward to reading the whole book when it comes out!

Marissa has a way with descriptive language! I can see the undead children and the amazing stories Serilda weaves for them. This sampler was not enough and I cant wait to get the full version. I cant wait to see what happens with Gild and of course, Erlkonig. Gild is still unaware of the unborn child and he cant seem to remember that he is a prince.

What a tease! I knew I wanted to read this book after reading the first but I need more immediately. This is definitely one of my most anticipated releases.

Cursed begins right where Gilded left off. I loved how it immediately picked the story back up with just the right amount of review for me to not feel the need to reread Gilded. I love the relationship between Gild and Serilda, and their sneaking around behind the Erlking's back gave their relationship the perfect amount of tension. The personalities of the children are so well done, and add so much life and love to the story. I really enjoy the world this is set in, and how it is slowly unfurling as Serilda learns more and more about it along with us.

Marissa Meyer's writing, as always, is impeccable. She gives it just the right amount of old-school Bavarian fairytale vibes, while still making it feel fresh and new. I love that this story is centered on story telling. It's just always so fun to read a story about the importance and power of stories. I can't wait to finish this story and see how they (hopefully) break the curse, and find their own happily ever after.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan Children's Publishing Group for providing me with this sampler in exchange for my honest thoughts!

While I had my issues with Gilded, I still enjoyed it quite a bit. Now I'm looking forward to its sequel Cursed, especially after finishing the NetGalley sampler. The first six chapters are a bit more slowly paced than I'd expected after the cliffhanger conclusion of Gilded, but I'm invested enough in Serilda, Gild, and the Erlking's stories that I'm willing to patiently await the payoff. The stakes are high as we're all left to chew over how Serilda and Gild will escape their curses. As for the merciless and cunning Erlking, I'm curious as to how his part of the narrative will progress. He feels like the kind of villain who is fully nefarious, but there's a distinct moment towards the end of the sampler that made me wonder if he'll have a redemption arc. His tragic relationship with Perchta is an aspect that I'm interested to learn more about, too.

I'm pumped to read the full book when I get the chance!

If the first few chapters of Cursed are any indication this will be an even stronger book than Gilded was. The sampler leaves enough to pique curiosity that perhaps there may be more to this story than we've been lead to believe in the first book. I cannot wait to read the full text.

This sampler was a great sneak peek into the sequel of Gilded. Though I enjoyed the contents in the first six chapters, it did not intrigue me into counting down the days until release. Overall will definitely read the full book when it comes out, but this sampler wasn’t quite a 5-star.

I have been looking forward to this for so long, and so far, it is not disappointing. I LOVE all the Scandanavian fairytale influence, and these amazing characters. Meyer is stealing my heart every time she writes a word. Gilded and Cursed are the perfect pair.

Yet again Marissa Meyers delivers us with an outstanding fantasy. I only got to read the first 6 chapters, but I am hooked. A world filled with Gods and Demons who could ask for more. I can’t wait to see how this one ends.

Ok, first off, now I have the their of white serilda is. Next I want to read more. Also, I am so excited for the book in October. Gold and his antic was charming but now I have this theory and I want to see if I’m correct by the next book

This is the first time I have requested and read something and regretted it -- but only because this was only a sample and I want to read the rest of the book! Marissa Meyer continues to spin the tale she started in Gilded - a spin on Rumplestilskin with some paranormal thrown in for good measure. Cursed begins on the wedding day of Serilda and the Erlking where Serilda hopes that something will happen to derail the wedding. Gild, of course, is up to his old tricks, so there are of course some hijinxs involved. You see the charade that Serilda and the Erlking put on for his court, as they cannot know that this is not the wedding they think it is. It saddens me to read the parts of the story involving the dead children, who are now ghosts whom Serilda is caring for and who are there to attend to her before her wedding. It seems there is more going on with the Erlking in this story, but it is hard to see what underlies his behaviors. I am sure we will get a clearer picture as the story continues. As with Gilded, the story sucks you in, I am unhappy that I have to wait until November to read the rest of this novel. It is off to a great start!
Thank you to Netgalley and Macmillian Publishing for the opportunity to read this free sampler, in exchange for my honest review.
