This was a really great read, and I love the aspect of doing what needs to be done to reignite the flame in a marriage. I will definitely be reading more of Wibberley in the future!

YOU GUUUUUUUYS. If you’ve been around for any length of time, you’re well aware of my obsession with Emily and Austin. I am an OG #Wibbroka fan, and have been reading these two since the days when they only had two YA novels out. When they announced they were releasing their first adult romance, I SCREAMED. And it did NOT disappoint. The Roughest Draft is one of my all-time favorites, not simply because of the romance, but because Emily and Austin made me feel more seen as a writer than anything else I’ve ever read in my entire life. I had high hopes for their sophomore adult, and it MORE than lived up to the hype. Only these two could take something we see often in romance—a marriage in trouble—and flip it on its head, creating a story that’s so uniquand raw and real, but funny, sweet, and full of passion. It’s a reminder that even marriages require work, and just because you’ve vowed to spend your life loving someone doesn’t always mean you know HOW to love them. This story is one of a marriage in trouble that turns into a fun spin on fake dating your spouse when Graham and Eliza find themselves on a romantic anniversary vacation together, the week looming like the daunting cliffs of Big Sur ahead of them. When Eliza comes up with this insane idea that they pretend to be strangers, Graham goes along, willing to do anything to make her happy. The role play game they’ve concocted is certainly working, the spark returning to their marriage in an explosive way. But they have to find a way to keep that going when they return to the real world. Overall, this book was SO raw and powerful.

Everyone suffers from insecurities, even those in long term, committed relationships, and I thoroughly enjoyed witnessing the care Emily and Austin put into Graham and Eliza’s. I loved every single word of Emily and Austin’s magical prose, and the pay-off of the HEA was well worth the angsty, gut-wrenching back and forth between these two. I cannot recommend this one enough.

At this point I will read any book that these authors put out, but this one was especially delicious. The premise is that Eliza and Graham were gifted a trip to a romantic resort for their 5-year anniversary, but unbeknownst to the gift giver their marriage is on the rocks and they ultimately plan to spend the trip in different rooms. When someone mistakes them for strangers, they decide to play along and adopt alter egos who are meeting for the first time. Though I wasn’t sure about this concept at first, the authors ended up pulling it off in a very cute way. I loved seeing them re-fall in love with each other, and to learn that after all these years you can still learn new things about your partner, can be surprised anew by things you might have once taken for granted.

This didn't work for me. I just didn't connect with the characters and the story was not compelling. This was a DNF for me

Emily Wibberley and Austin Siegemund-Broka have a knack for writing romances featuring the marriage-in-trouble trope! Truthfully, it's a trope that's highly underrated and under-used, but these two nail it every time. I can't wait to read more from them!

This book was such a cute read. I loved The Roughest Draft and this was another amazing book by Emily and Austin. Second chance romances always put the biggest smile on my face.

My favorite duo does it again! I don’t know how to explain it but I always fly through every book of them I read! Their way of writing is just captivating. Looking forward to read anything and everything they write in the future.

I listened to this audiobook and while I enjoyed the narration, I didn't love the story. I found Eliza to be somewhat hot and cold in the relationship and that led me to not really feeling the chemistry between Eliza and Graham. Graham seemed to be trying hard to please Eliza, but I wasn't sure it was worth the effort. It's an interesting take on trying to save a marriage, but counseling may have been a better choice.

This was my second by the husband-wife author duo! I always enjoy their beautiful prose, and really loved the alternating his and her chapters in this second chance romance. I thought their take on fake dating within their own marriage was unique. However, I did find the measures in which they took to save their marriage, a bit hard to understand and relate to. Only 5 years into their marriage and they were unable to communicate, be vulnerable or voice concerns regarding very normal topics (her family drama and his career). It made me a little worried for their future but you could tell that they deeply loved each other despite having to pretend to date and share separate rooms during their entire anniversary. I found their banter well written, loved the supporting character of David, and really enjoyed the California resort setting! Overall, while I struggled with some of the plot points of this book, I’d still recommend others try it out for themselves!

Thank you so much to Netgalley and Berkley Romance for this gifted eARC!

After five years of marriage, Eliza and Graham are in a rut. The closeness they felt in their early years together, the spark – it’s all gone.

So when a simple mistake by a stranger leads the couple to play a game of pretend while on a weeklong getaway, they go with it. Soon, Eliza and Graham find themselves flirting like strangers and going on a second first date. It’s fun, sexy, and exciting.

Until it isn’t. It’s like any good thing, I suppose – sometimes you get too much of it.

"Do I Know You?" is my first romance by the husband and wife writing team of Emily Wibberley and Austin Siegemund-Broka, and I couldn’t have enjoyed it more. To find a novel about a failing marriage that’s written in such a lighthearted way is unexpected. Usually, I only come across broken married couples in heavy, oh-so-serious literary fiction.

Though lighthearted it may be, the book is still thick with emotion. My heart hurt for both Eliza and Graham, two people who feel so apart from one another, unsure of how they’ve gotten to where they are. It’s quite sad, really.

Definitely give "Do I Know You?" a try if you’re in the mood for a love story that’s a bit more mature but doesn’t skimp on the fun. A very enthusiastic thumbs up from me.

My sincerest appreciation to Emily Wibberley, Austin Siegemund-Broka, Berkley, and NetGalley for the digital review copy. All opinions included herein are my own.

This was such a fun second chance romance/marriage in trouble love story. The resort setting was entertaining to read and I really enjoyed the alternating POV from the main characters. It was such a creative premise and I loved the growth the characters experienced throughout.

Thank you Berkley and Netgalley for my copy.

I had high expectations for this one and this author duo did not disappoint. We often don't see romances like this one between people who are already together, but even more than that, we don't often talk about what it takes to rekindle that initial spark years into a relationship. It was a treat to watch these two come back to each other and explore themselves outside of the relationship at the same time. I can't recommend this to friends enough!

Eliza and Graham are celebrating their fift wedding anniversary, is it? Or are they looking for lost love between them?

They were gifted a romantic getaway which neither were expecting to be good. An introduction with a stranger leads them to role playing and igniting the spark again.

POVs of both Eliza and Graham were good thing to have, showcasing their feelings which made it easy to relate.

This was an uncommon romance book. It was about a couple working through their marriage. This second chance romance was different as this is with own husband rather than one who got away.

Miscommunications trope was okay in this one and I felt Graham a bit annoying. I understand that the miscommunications are the reason where things fall apart but I found this tad bit down the mark.

The writing was real, raw, vulnerable and good. This was creative, original, genuine and emotional read. It was how instead of giving up the couple explored new ideas also appreciating the daily life and partner with flaws.

Overall this was a good read!

A book with an interesting concept that just ran out of steam midway through. Looking back at The Rough Draft, that could have happened to that one too but The Rough Draft had the past scenes to add suspense and a bit of mystery as to why they went their separate ways. In Do I Know You? You only have the present; at the beginning it is full of tension and the narration is pretty spot on in asking the questions of why the couple is so adrift. However, by the midpoint the conflict felt like it was going around in circles and it ran out of tension/interesting things to say. I would have DNFd at the 60% mark and not lost much of what happened after since it was all pretty obvious and did not deviate.

I wish more had been done, but it is what it is. 2.5-3 stars, the inner dialogue felt very real, even though it kept going around in circles. The conflict with the sister could have been a bigger contention point, by handling at the end it felt like just adding something for which Graham could be disappointed at his wife. Some past scenes would have been good to show how Eliza would not open up to Graham, instead we are mainly told.

Instead of romantic weeklong getaway for their fifth wedding anniversary, Eliza and Graham pretend they’ve never met in hopes of reconnecting.

Typically, I’m not a fan of the married couples reconnecting trope, but I wanted to give this a chance AND it was just a no for me. I didn’t really like Eliza - and I could have done without Graham. I just needed them to act like adults and have a conversation.

Do I Know You was a fun, quick read. I'm not typically a fan of marriage in trouble romances, but I enjoyed this one and thought it was well done. And of course I am a huge fan of Emily and Austin. I love their writing style!

Eliza and Graham are anticipating an anything-but-sexy, weeklong getaway to celebrate their five-year anniversary. Nestled on the Northern California coastline, the resort prides itself on being a destination for those in love and those looking to find it. For Eliza and Graham, it might as well be a vacation with a roommate.

When a well-meaning guest mistakes Eliza and Graham for being single and introduces them at the hotel bar, they don’t correct him. Suddenly, they’re pretending to be perfect strangers and it’s unexpectedly…fun? Eliza and Graham find themselves flirting like it’s their first date, and waiting with butterflies in their stomach for the other to text back.

Everyone at the retreat can sense the electric chemistry between Eliza and Graham’s alter egos. But when their scintillating game of roleplaying ends, will they still feel the heat?

This is a different type of romance. It's about a married couple trying to rekindle their love for each other.

Eliza and Graham are about to celebrate their 5th anniversary. Graham's mother has gifted them a week at a resort in northern California. However, if their ride over there is any indication, their marriage is doomed.

Graham is an attorney and Eliza is a voice-over actor. They are successful in their professional life but not in their personal. It seems that the couple doesn't know how to talk to each other any longer.

Due to a new acquaintance, an unexpected circumstance arises. David mistakes them as single and introduces Graham to Eliza. The couple takes this chance and begins the role-play of being strangers. For the next few days, they treat their relationship as new, including staying in separate rooms and only seeing each other by chance.

This definitely was not Two For the Road but the writing was witty. I did get invested in Eliza and Graham. I was rooting for them to be able to find each other again.

I enjoyed both narrators, Dan Bittner and Brittany Pressley. They grab the characters and made them their own.

Cliffhanger: No

3.5/5 Fangs
