I liked the characters. It was good to see how her life changed over time. but was upsetting at times.
Major life changes can sometimes be exciting and other times harsh on the main characters.
Was a slow burn, took a lot of time to know the background of the male and female protagonists.
Too slow paced for me. I usually read medium to fast paced books depending on the genre or what mood I am in.
I am a mood reader so my ratings change all the time.. I am too a picky reader and make impulsive decisions before delving into the synopsis of a story. Reading summaries and background of the book before hand is something I need to work on as a reader and reviewer.

This was the first book I have read by Andrea Johnston, and it certainly proved I needed to read future books by the author. It started off full of suspense and keeps you on the edge until the end. Gage and Sophia’s relationship is slow burning and you can’t help but cheer them on. I enjoyed the book and cannot wait for more books from her.

Thanks to Netgalley for a copy of this book for an honest review.

Sophia meets policeman Gage whilst she is at college after she reports an incident. Years pass and she meets him again under very different circumstances. Both are damaged by their pasts and are living in a small town in Idaho. Will their pasts let them find happiness in the future? A great suspenseful romance!

PURSUED: An ABCs of Love Novel
by Andrea Johnston was a haunting mystery romance. I was initially drawn to the cover. I loved their closeness in it.
I’m giving it a 3 ⭐️ because I just found it alright. It felt like it took forever to really start the story. I almost didn’t finish it and at the ending had hoped for more of a story. More stuff to actually take place. I feel like I’m on the minority here but these are my honest thoughts.

Flove the cover and blurb! Yes the story had a slow build and I still found it easy to get into! Gage and Sophia had quite the story to be told!

What did I like? It’s a coincidence that these two people met at different places in life before falling in love with each other. I enjoyed the flow of the story from Sophia’s experience with a stalker until she met Gage again. Both seemed traumatized and found a healing place. My first by this author but I would definitely read more by her.

Would I buy or recommend? This story was more about healing than romance. I never guessed the stalker but enjoyed the comeuppance. If you like suspense you should enjoy this. Four stars!

I received a complimentary copy from the publisher to read and voluntarily left this opinion! Kudos to the author!

Ok, this started slow. Lots of build up and then life happened and I had to put down Sophia's story. Then there was finally a lul and it became Gage and Sophia's story.

Honestly one minute I was at 15% and then suddenly I was at 75%. That slow start kicked into drive when Sophia suddenly needed a safe harbor.

I've never read Andrea Johnston. I had zero expectations, but hope to at least enjoy the story and I did. More than I though I was going to and I will absolutely be looking for Blake and Aubrey's book this fall.

A well written and emotional story, dealing with a stalker issue that keeps you guessing, and feeling for Sophia as she has had to put her life on hold for three years, and Gage who is dealing with his own issues come together to heal each other, ending each other’s nightmares.

All the early reviews are 5* so I’m going to assume it’s me not the book.

I liked (but didn’t love) the characters. We first meet Sophia in her final semester of college before she gains a stalker. It was good to see how she was and how her life changed. But devastating to witness the complete change in her. This is where she first briefly crosses paths with Gage.
Not only do we spend time getting to know Sophia but Gage as well. His career takes an unexpected change which has a life altering effect on him as well.
They meet again and this is where the romantic part of the story begins. As they both try to find their way trough the trauma and out the other side.

This is a slow build as time is spent getting to know both characters. The problem for me was it was too slow. I’d guessed out who the stalker was and just wanted Sophia and Gage together. I was also jealous that we didn’t follow Gage into his undercover work. I know it wasn’t that kind of book but I did feel I’d missed out.

Anyway like I said it’s most likely me not the book since everyone else loves it. I can be too picky at times.

I voluntarily read a review copy kindly provided by the Publisher and NetGalley.

This was my first book from Andrea Johnston. She had me completely entranced by the story and the characters were so well written. This story is amazing!
I loved the relatable situations that make you second guess and shiver, besides that I just loved real and flawed.

I loved Sophia and Gage’s story. It is a hot suspenseful romance that keeps you enthralled from the first sentence to the last. It’s filled with all the emotions, the danger, the connections and the love. Sophia and Gage are portrayed as real, relatable people who have flaws, but are really trying to just do their best as messy damaged humans. Sophia has been stalked for three years since she was a senior in college. When the stalker escalates his behavior, Sophia travels to Starlight Ridge, a small town that is off the grid. Gage is a police officer who interacted with Sophia briefly early on in the stalking but has spent the last three years undercover swimming in the worst of humanity. Gage is also staying in Starlight Ridge to try to heal from his UC work. As Gage and Sophia spend more and more time together, secrets are shared and wounds are exposed. The feels that result from watching the closeness develop between these two guarded but lonely people will make you love the story more. This book has a little bit of everything just like you would expect from a good romantic suspense story - sweet moments, sexy times, real life issues, imperfect characters, painful pasts, dangerous high stress situations, mystery, surprises, and some chuckles. The story included witty dialogue, three dimensional characters who grow, and an engaging storyline. The pacing on this story was romantic suspense perfection. I especially enjoy when romantic suspense keeps me guessing who the bad guy is like this one did. I willingly reviewed an early copy of this book.

So this is such an awesome concept for a series. 26 authors, 26 stand-alone stories for each letter of the alphabet, released once a week over 26 weeks. Here’s the current list on Amazon for the ABC’s of Love Novels. This review is for P - Pursued. So if you’re an avid reader who is looking to fill some titles for your alphabet challenge, look no further! This is the only series you need! Now, full disclosure, Pursued is the only book I’ve read of the series, but I’m anxiously waiting for X Y Z to complete my own alphabet challenge. Pursued will be available July 21, 2022 and I fully intend to go back and check out some of the other stories.

Sophia Brooks is a senior at Drummond University in Washington State, anxiously making plans for her future after college. She suddenly becomes the interest of a stalker who makes it clear quite quickly that he is watching her but he’s made no advances to reveal who he is or why she’s the target of his obsession. She gotten rid of all technology and becomes a complete slave to the safety of her home. Suddenly her stalker makes it clear that her home isn’t as safe as she thought it was and he can see what she’s wearing. The local detective on the case has suggested she go off grid for a while. She abruptly moves to a tiny town called Starlight Ridge in Idaho. Here she meets Gage Castillo who has also made his way to Starlight Ridge to also escape his past. Together they start on a path of healing and move beyond their past and start living again.

This is just the absolutely sweetest small-town/stalker romance. It’s a quick easy read. The author Andrea Johnston packs such a great story in such few pages. She quickly makes me feel worried for Sophia and fall in love with Gage. It’s a great palette cleanser book. If you’re like me, and you read dark intense books, I often feel like I just need a sweet feel good to bring me down and this is exactly what this was. Just a fun, sweet, romance. Thank you to Net Galley and Author Collective 20 for the ARC of this book. This is my honest review for the book Pursued: An ABC’s of Love Novel.

This was my first book from Andrea Johnston and she did not disappoint! The characters were so well written and she had me completely entranced that I finished this book in one sitting. I absolutely love that Andrea did a dual point-of-view, especially to really feel how each of them were feeling in their moments. This was the first actual romantic suspense that kept me on my toes and wanting to figure out what was happening.

We follow Sophia and Gage and it’s hard not to just love both of them as individual characters. The book starts with Sophia in her final semester of college when she starts to be pursued. After an incident, she finds herself in the hospital, where she meets Office Gage Castillo. They part ways as the investigation has gone unsolved, and while Sophia still struggles with her stalker, Gage finds himself going undercover.

In the time jump, they both find themselves in a small town, Starlight Ridge. Both trying to escape their current situations; Sophia and her stalker, and Gage his own demons. This book kept me on my toes trying to figure out who was stalking Sophia. I was mentally keeping a list of suspects of who it could be and my mind was BLOWN at the ending.
