Where the River Takes You is a small town romance filled with humor, sizzling chemistry and characters that you will fall in love with. After a disaster at work, Blakely takes a break, leaves the city, and finds herself in the small town of Greyson Gap. She unexpectedly ends up with a roommate who she is constantly butting heads with. Blakely and Tucker are complete opposites but over time they start to fall for each other.

Enemies to lovers is my favorite trope which made me even more excited to pick up this book. There were loads of sexual tension between Tucker and Blakely. Their banter and chemistry was fantastic. The part of the book where they were "enemies" was the perfect length for me. They are now added to my list of favorite couples.

Blakely was such a fun character. She got herself into these awkward and hilarious situations that are making me smile now just thinking about them. But she did have some things she struggled with. She showed a lot of growth throughout the book. Her journey to happiness and really living her life added a layer of depth that made this so much more than a rom-com.

There's just something about Sophie's writing and humor that I've always connected with. She's one of the few authors whose books I read that make me literally laugh out loud. After not reading any of her books for so long, the second I started this one I remembered why I enjoy her writing so much. She creates characters you care about and a fictional world you feel connected to.

This is the perfect summer rom-com read!

I read an advanced copt in exchange for an honest review.

Loved the quirky side characters. Especially Whit and Etta! I would be interested in a book from Whit’s POV.

Blakely wasn’t my favorite MC though. She was a little too much for me. She reminded me of Calla in The Simple Wild, but not as good. She kinda drove me absolutely crazy – especially when she moves back and is all “I’m unhappy and don’t know what to do about it.” Lord child. So whiny.

I did really like Tucker!! And of course Hershel, the dog. – he was the star LOL I actually loved the entire Greyson family and would love more from them! GT is the grandpa we all want.

This is good, but it isn’t GREAT. It didn’t excite me. It was over the top, but honestly sometimes just TOO over the top that it wasn’t enjoyable. I didn’t want to reach for this one. I wasn’t swept away in the story and anxious to keep reading. The Coffee Girl series from this same author swept me away – I couldn’t stop reading! I was hoping for that same kind of oomph from this story, but I was a little let down. I will still check out a second book if the author continues this series.

FYI – for a small town, wholesome story there are some spicy scenes so be aware if that’s not your thing.

"The Eluewei flows in all of us, son. It's in the quiet where the answers lie. You just have to move the boulder and your heart with beat again."
💫
Sophie Sinclair does it again! I love this small town, opposites attract love story. There's family with no boundaries, a community that claims you as their own, and enough breathing room for you to find yourself. Paired with Sophie's signature humor, "Where The River Takes You" gave me everything I want in my rom-com novels.
💫
Blakely Mayfield is out of her element in Greyson Gap. But after a disastrous work event, she's forced out of the city with the goal to regroup and let the dust settle. What she doesn't plan for is finding a place where she feels the most herself in years. The only catch is her sexy roommate with a plan of his own.
💫
Tucker Greyson, yes of those Greysons, is the complete opposite of Blakely in every way yet he is drawn to her in ways he can't understand. One moment he wants to bring chaos to her order and in the next second, he wants friends with benefits, to show her how good life could be in the Gap.
💫
"Where The River Takes You" gives you small town drama - is there anything better? - a motley crew of characters that will have you in stitches as you read, and the perfect ending that leaves you fully believing that love can work it's magic in the most unlikely of places.
💫
Honorable mention to Tucker's grandpa, GT. I love a sweet old man and he was just the perfect father figure in this novel.

It was the cover of the book that drew my attention first - and it is just gorgeous, like a beautiful watercolor painting! - and then the book kept popping up on bookstagram, so I was really happy my request on Netgalley was approved and I got to read an advanced copy. Thank you to Sophie Sinclair, Netgalley and the publisher!

This book has everything you could ask from a smalltown novel - there is our girl Blakely, who comes to Greyson Gap to stay at her friend's house after a disaster at work, there is the charming all-around nice guy Tucker, a former baseball star who has moved back to his hometown to help with the family business, and then there is the wonderful supporting cast of townspeople, friends and family who all bring their own kind of craziness to the everyday life of Greyson Gap, North California. And let's not forget Hershel, the dog!

I'm so happy that this book begins a whole series of Greyson Gap books, can't wait to go back!

I will post my reviews on Instagram and Goodreads today, on release day, July 14, 2022.

A five-star read that ebbs and flows like a lazy Sunday afternoon in the sunshine. This is number one in the Greyson Gap series and I am so, so excited to read what’s next, I adore this author and the Coffee Girl series is one of my all time faves, but this one is going from strength to strength. This author has a great way of making all of the characters strong and enough to hold your attention, you need to know more about everyone, they just feel like old friends and you can picture yourself sniffing candles or popping along to the self-help night. This whole story wraps you in a massive hug, its great, and I cant wait to hear more about Junie and her story.

If I could give this book more than five stars I would!!! I went into this book not knowing anything about it, other than Sophie (I’d read anything she writes) Sinclair wrote it. Oh my word was I surprised. I don’t know what I expected but it wasn’t this book! I haven’t laughed like I laughed while reading this book in forever!! I was hooked from the moment I started this book! I absolutely loved Tucker and Blakely! This was such a fantastic start to a new series! The story telling was so vivid that I felt like I was watching a movie in my mind! You got to know the cast of side characters and get invested in them without it taking away for Tucker and Blakely’s story. If you love small town, slow burn, enemies to lovers, and laugh out loud funny you will love this book! I absolutely recommend it and can’t wait for the next book!!!

Received a arc for a honest review.

I just fell in love with this story and all the characters! It's a sweet, charming, fun and funny story that also pulled on my heart strings a time or two.

This story had me smiling almost the whole way through! (There were a few tearful moments in there as well.) Between the banter, the crazy meddling town, and all the "uh oh" mishaps, there wasn't a dull moment!

I thoroughly enjoyed Tucker and Blakely's story and I can't wait to revisit this small town with the next story.

This book is the true definition of a small town, opposites attract romance, with an almost enemies to lover’s vibe as well, and I absolutely loved it!

This was such a sweet and quick read. I read the book in one sitting, it just flowed so well! I adored Blakely and Tucker. The push and pull between the two was perfection, and their banter, there were moments between these two that had me laughing out loud. There was no denying their chemistry, it was palpable.

I have to say, I truly loved the setting of this story. It was like I could picture the small town in my head, it was like I was transported there. Sophie Sinclair did an incredible job in all aspects of this one. And let me tell you, the secondary characters were absolutely amazing, I have a girl crush on Etta for real! I’m excited to see what’s next!

This is a sexy, opposites-attract contemporary romance set in rural North Carolina. Blakely is a highly-stung event planner, but when her most important event is ruined by batch of bad mayonnaise and the subsequent food poisoning, she retreats to her friend’s house in the Smoky Mountains. But said house is shared by all her friend’s cousins, and right now it’s also occupied by ex-baseball player Tucker, who is determined to push her out of her comfort zone. It’s written in first person from both Blakely and Tucker’s points-of-view.

There’s lots of snarky banter of the ‘being aggravating cause you’re hot when you’re annoyed with me’ variety, but unfortunately they did a good job of aggravating *me* as well as each other. At one point one of them thinks “I know I’m being a dick, but it’s all part of the master plan” which. No. Please, I am tired.

There’s also quiet a few ‘there’s an old Native American proverb’ etc bits, which felt iffy - I’m not from the US so hey, maybe that’s how rural folks talk, but considering we also get some uncritical family lore about how their ancestors came from Scotland to ‘settle’ their ranch in North Carolina… It just felt very weird to have ‘here’s the Native American story of the local river’ and ‘here’s the time our family colonised land stolen from the Native Americans’ in the same conversation.

Anyway, it’s a sweet enough small town romance, with a classic ‘uptight city lady moves to the mountains and discovers what she really wants.’ It just wasn’t quite for me.

Looking at this cover (which is beautiful, btw), I did not expect this book to be so much fun. It’s a small town, slow burn romance between unwanted roommates. I really enjoyed the chemistry between Blakely and Tucker. I loved all the quirky characters in Grayson’s Gap and I’m so happy I’ve discovered Sophie Sinclair.

Thanks to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for the chance to review this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion. #WhereTheRiverTakesYou #NetGalley

Something to always look forward to with Sophie’s books is the humor. This popped up on my kindle a few days before the weekend and I knew immediately I was going to be lounging in the sun reading this gem.

Ok a small town opposite attracts book… I’m freaking there! Also when I say small town I mean Creepy Carl, Barracuda bohdi, ecelctic Tanya … and nosy Etta… who I’m thinking I most relate too.

From the title chapters to the content I laughed, swooned and fell completely in love!

Sophie I absolutely love that brain of yours and so exited for the next Greyson Gap!

This was a cute read! The characters had lively personalities, the romance was wholesome AND spicy, and Greyson Gap and its people added that extra element to this story. The first few chapters of this story were so effective, drawing me in immediately!

Truly a fish out of water, Blakely's escape to a small town in North Carolina got off to a memorable start when she meets Tucker Grayson, a former baseball star who has since moved home to the town his family has lived in for generations. Though the two couldn't be more different, they soon find themselves sharing a home, a dog, and feelings neither expected.

Ultimately, while I enjoyed the book, it didn't excite me. Small town romances are some of my favorite stories and I read them often, leaving me feeling underwhelmed by this one. It was good, just not my favorite.

I absolutely loved this story. The banter and dialogue between Blakely and Tucker is so funny and Blakely’s interactions with all the supporting cast of characters in the town are so well written they come alive. It was a great novel that I didn’t want to finish and I am really looking forward to reading Junie’s story. Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for giving me access to an early copy. I thought Sophie couldn’t top Coffee Girl but I think she has. If I could award more than 5 stars I would.

Where The River Takes You is the start of a new series from Sophie Sinclair that takes place in Greyson Gap, a small mountain town in North Carolina. When Blakely Mayfield’s life falls apart in Atlanta, her best friend offers up her river house in Greyson Gap for her to stay in for the summer. Blakely is incredibly high-strung and anxious, so imagine her surprise when she finds out she has a roommate, her best friend’s cousin Tucker Greyson. Tucker is aggravated by Blakely’s OCD ways, but as the two learn to live alongside each other, they both start to catch feelings. Blakely then wonders if the big city where she came from is where she’s meant to be.

I loved this book! I thought the banter between Blakely and Tucker was excellent. The romance was a bit of a slow burn, but very worth the wait! I also loved the townspeople of Greyson Gap. They were hilarious and reminded me a bit of Stars Hollow in Gilmore Girls. They truly made the town feel like one big family. Blakely shows incredible character growth in this story as well. Topics such as anxiety, mental health, and panic attacks are handled with care. I can’t wait for Junie’s book, which is the next installment in the series!

Slow burn romance. They start off on the wrong foot, both making rush judgements about the other person. However, they soon get into a routine as roommates and friends, and both hope for more.

For me, secondary characters make or break a book, and I really enjoyed them in this story. Whit, Jason, Junie, Annie, Etta, Tanya, even Bhodi. Great cast of characters to add to Blakely and Tucker’s story.

If you are looking for a sweet story with some laughs thrown in as well, this is the book for you.

Blakely is a Type-A clean queen on sabbatical in the town of Greyson's Gap. She quickly meets Tucker Greyson and embarks on a journey of self-discovery all while rooming with the boy who annoys her the most, Tucker himself.

This was my first book by this author and needless to say, I will be picking up some more titles! This was a very sweet, enemies to lovers book that I couldn't put down. I really enjoyed the relationships Blakely created with all the crazy, wonderful characters in Greyson's Gap and her own personal journey as well as the romance/steamy side of things.

This is definitely a recommendation I would give to any of my fellow romance lovers!!
