I was lucky to receive an advance copy of Perfect Parents by L.G. Davis from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review and opinion. WOW - this is one of those books that you will finish in a day as you will not be able to put it down. Loved it and the suspense. Can't wait to read many more books by this author!

I kept waiting and hoping for this book to pick up, I thought at least at the end we would get some action. This fell so flat for me. There was no big reveal or anything to keep me interested. The author could do more with the back story

So this is my second read from this author and that is because they really know how to construct a great story. It is tightly written and the characters were very relatable. I loved it. Don't hesitate to grab this book.

Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture, and the author for sharing this free ARC in exchange for my honest feedback!

Travis and Marcia Thorpe have it all - well, except for the one thing they can't have - a baby. Grace Cooper comes into their lives with an offer that they cannot refuse: she will carry their baby at no charge AND move into the guest house on their property so that they can be a part of the pregnancy. Is this all too good to be true? Why would a stranger offer to give up her life and her body for nine months to help them have a baby for free?!

Grace moves into the guest house and tensions immediately surface between the three adults. The Thorpes want to be involved in every single tiny detail down to what maternity clothes Grace wears, what she eats every day, and how much sleep she gets. Grace is completely overwhelmed as the Thorpes take advantage of the situation and her boundary lines are crossed. What has she gotten herself into?

Can Grace trust Marcia and Travis with this precious life she is about to give over to them? What secrets is Grace hiding and why is she so determined to have this baby? And most importantly, why are multiple women disappearing around town that have direct connections to this couple?

I really enjoyed reading Perfect Parents by L.G. Davis. I don't know if I would really consider it a thriller because I wasn't necessarily scared. But I definitely did not see the plot twists coming in the end, and I can't say that for most mystery books!

Thank you again to NetGalley, Bookouture, and L.G. Davis for sharing this book with me!

🌟📖My Review 📖🌟

This truly is an edge of your seat thriller. An engaging and unpredictable storyline and although I didn't like any of the characters I was still intrigued by their parts in the story. I loved the writing style and the short chapters kept the book flowing easily. I couldn't put this one down as I just had to find out what would happen next. Now I am really looking forward to reading the next book by this author. Thank you netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC, all opinions are solely my own.

I gave them my baby… but can I trust them?
Giving away my child is the hardest decision I have ever had to make. But when I move into the Thorpes’ stunning home so they can support me through the pregnancy, it seems like they are everything I could have hoped for. They cook me delicious, healthy meals and make sure I’m getting the best medical care. They never question my background, or why I am giving them my child.
But before long, I begin to wonder if something is very wrong with the Thorpes. I try to ignore how Travis lets his hand linger on mine for a little too long, and how Marcia comes to check on me during the night. I tell myself that when they control and monitor my movements, it’s just because they care.
Keeping my baby safe and making sure they are going to the perfect family means everything to me. But when a threatening note turns up outside my door and I begin to unravel the Thorpes’ secrets, I realise I may not make it out of here alive.
After everything I’ve been through, I’m not going to give up without a fight. And I’ll do anything to keep my baby safe…

I enjoyed this book. It was a good story, at times very gripping.
I wasn’t particularly keen on the writing style, it seemed a little simple. But that did not detract from the overall enjoyment of the story!

TRIGGER WARNING: miscarriage, surrogacy
Grace agrees to act as a surrogate to Marcia and Travis but begins to feel uncomfortable at their intensity. She then becomes fearful when she receives notes warning her she is making a mistake...
Perfect Parents is a psychological thriller set in America. It centres around miscarriage, infertility and surrogacy which some readers may find upsetting.
The book is written from Grace's first person perspective in the present day but also some chapters show her devastating past. She is selflessly acting as a surrogate but is haunted by the sadness of her past. Meanwhile, the new parents are overbearing and possessive. This creates a huge tension and claustrophobic atmosphere. Grace wants her own space especially when someone starts to warn her off going through with the surrogacy.
There was a huge amount of emotion in this book and I felt able to empathise with every character. The past and present events are captivating thanks to the strong narration from Grace but it is easy to understand how the other characters feel. The thriller elements develop gradually as the tension and perceived danger increase and Grace feels more intimidated by the couple and others.
Perfect Parents was an entralling thriller with a good central plot, skilfully narrated.

Grace Cooper makes the decision to be a surrogate for Marcia and Travis Thorpe. She hoping that this gift to them can help her overcome a past tragedy. The Thorpe's offer to let Grace stay in their home while she is pregnant. During that time, she begins to feel the couple is overbearing. Things start to unravel, and you just don't know who you can trust. You get bits and pieces of the characters pasta, and everyone has secrets to keep hidden. I thought this was a pretty clever read and did not see the twist coming. Definitely kept me on the edge of me seat.

Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for the gifted copy. All opinions are my own.

4.5 stars!!!

THis was just TOO good.

THe eerie feeling stayed throughout the book even though, realistically speaking, the first couple of chapters were more than fine.

But it was just amazing. LG Davis is a new favorite now. Hands down. Too good for words.

Another gem from L G Davis. This thriller is a well woven tale of Grace, whose one decision took a life changing path for her family. To make amends with her tragic past, Grace is now a surrogate for Marcia and Travis. But some secrets are more well hidden than others and one day the skeletons come tumbling out.

Fast and page turner. Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC

Perfect Parents by L.G. Davis

KKECReads Rating: 4/5
I received a copy of this book for free, and I leave my review voluntarily.

L.G. Davis writes novels that will send chills down your spine and keep you up at night.
She also writes in other genres under the name Liz Grace Davis.

“Something doesn’t feel right. “

Grace is trying to work through her trauma, and when she thinks she has a plan figured out, she leaps. Marcia and Travis want a baby, and after years of trying, they decide to use a surrogate. Enter Grace. What should be a beautiful arrangement suddenly becomes a fight to survive.

I did not see the twist coming. Wow! I found the use of time in this novel really interesting. You feel like you’re going through a nine-month pregnancy. I enjoyed how this story was told; the alternating timelines were good.

The characters were well developed. Everyone is mysterious, so you don’t know who you can trust, and everyone seems to have something in their past they want to keep hidden. I enjoyed the character arch throughout.

This was a dark story, with a lot of scary situations. I did enjoy the backstory everyone had and how they all worked through their traumas. That was handled well.

This was a slower burn until the last half of the book, then the plot took off at a breakneck speed and didn’t slow down. The way this novel ends will give you goosebumps!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this book.

Grace’s life is a mess, she has lost a high powered career as a magazine editor and now works in a florist. She decides to become a surrogate for Marcia and Trevor, expecting no payment in return. As her pregnancy progresses the couple ask her to move in with them in their guest house. This is where things start to go wrong. They appear to be obsessed with her, and then bad things start to happen.

This book has chapters from the past mixed in explaining Grace’s previous life and her reasons for becoming a surrogate.

After a slow start this book had me booked. While Marcia and Trevor weren’t likeable characters they were very real and you could really feel Grace’s discomfort and fear.

An unexpected ending with perhaps a predictable post climax addition!
