Perfect Parents had me hooked immediately. I could not put it down and read it in one sitting. It had plenty of twists, turns and emotions and the ending was anything but predictable. It was fantastic.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for my ARC.

Giving away my baby is the hardest decision I have ever had to make. But when I move into the Thorpe's stunning home so they can support me through the pregnancy, it seems like they are everything I could have hoped for. But before long, I begin to wonder if something is very wrong with the Thorpe's. I try to ignore how Travis lets his hand linger on mine a little too long, and Marcia comes to check on me during the night. But when a threatening note turns up outside my door and I begin to unravel the Thorpe's secrets, I realise I might not make it out of here alive.

This is a captivating domestic suspense thriller with a creepy feel to it. Grace agrees to be a surrogate for wealthy couple,Marcia and Travis Thorpe. We learn why Grace wanted to be a surrogate which is told in flashbacks. Marcia and Travis were a weird couple who tried to rule Grace's life while she lived with them. There's twist and turns throughout. The characters are well developed. I was pulled in after I had read a couple of chapters. This is quite a sad and selfless story that's told from Grace's point of view. The epilogue has left me wondering if there will be a follow on book as we were left with a bit of a cliffhanger.

I would like to thank #NetGalley #Bookouture and the author #LGDavis for my ARC of #PerfectParents in exchange for an honest review.

What’s the most precious gift a woman could give another woman? Grace, in a clumsy attempt to right what she perceives to be a past wrong, agrees to be a surrogate for the perfect couple. She even moves in with them, but that’s when it begins to go all wrong.
I have been fascinated with surrogacy stories since Baby M back in the 1980s. Marcia and Travis gave off creep vibes galore and what’s the deal, with both Agnes and Beatrice?
If you like to read about complicated, messy situations, this book is the right choice for you. And you’ll discover who gets the baby.

If you read one book about the complications of being a surrogate, let it be this one! Totally tense, heartbreaking and never lets up on the suspense. Read in one day as I simply could not put it down!

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC!

Perfect Parents previously known as The Surrogates Gift

This was my first book by author L.G. Davis. I just went and made sure to add the rest of her books to my TBR!

Perfect Parenrs hooked me on immediately. I started reading this book a couple days ago and when I picked it up today I just couldn’t put it down… it’s now 2am….

If your looking for your next psychological thriller read then this book is for you! There are many twists and turns and info you find out. Keeps you guessing till the end. It also has me a bit creeped out as I sit in my living room alone at 2am.

If you have ever thought of being a surrogate or have used one I’m sure you can in some ways relate to the characters in this book. I know I could in some ways after dealing with infertility and wondering if I would ever be a mom one day. The lengths you go to for those dreams some cannot fathom.

Add this book to your TBR!! It will not disappoint!!

Surrogacy has always been interesting to me and I’ve read several books about it- some realistic, others not so much..this is one that you have to suspend some realism to believe the story. The storyline was interesting and captured my attention immediately, holding it throughout.

At first, I was confused because I could've sworn I'd read this before. But I pushed through and I'm so glad I did. Lots of dark secrets resulting in unexpected twists. Totally unpredictable ending. A good domestic thriller.

This is the first book that I’ve read by this author and it most certainly will not be my last. In fact I think this author may be a new favourite of mine, and yes that’s from only reading one book. This book wasn’t just a good read it was absolutely brilliant, Talk about a book getting a grip and pulling me right in, well this happened with this book. As soon as I had finished the prologue that brilliant feeling came over me of knowing I was going to love this one. This is an utterly captivating domestic suspense thriller with a few red herrings thrown in. Once I started reading I just didn’t want to put it down. In my opinion a superb read and well worthy of 5 ⭐️.

Oh my gosh! What a gripping thriller that was. I have never read L G Davis books before and feel that I've seriously missed out! I was glued to my iPad all evening until I finished. I never expected the ending at all. Grace goes on quite a journey.... Highly recommend

I am excited to be taking part in the #BooksOnTour #BlogTour for L.G. Davis' tense domestic suspense tale PERFECT PARENTS (formerly known as "The Surrogate's Gift" ).

This is just the second book I've read by L.G. Davis and I quite like her easy style of domestic suspense. It doesn't matter if they are sometimes predictable as it's the thrill of the ride I enjoy most. And yet while you may think what direction the story is going in BAM! then you are hit with a twist that changes everything. That's kind of how it was with PERFECT PARENTS. I thought I knew in which direction it was headed...and I was partly right. But it was the driver that fooled me.

The story opens with an explosive prologue that leaves the reader wondering in what direction we are going with this...and then we meet Grace. She's a woman who feels she needs to make amends for the mistakes of her past and the losses which she now bears. It's her heartache and her guilt which leads her to a momentous decision - to become a surrogate. She has just one condition - they must be happy and able to provide the child with a stable environment.

After relentless searching, Grace decides the lucky couple will be Marcia and Travis Thorpe after befriending Marcia in an online forum then meeting her and thus making her decision. The Thorpes have been married for several years but remain childless whilst it is Marcia's greatest wish to become a mother. And Grace, through selfless divinity, wants to give them that gift.

But why? That is the question the reader asks themselves throughout half of the book. It's not until we get about halfway through that the reason becomes clear and then we understand, but Grace declines any monetary compensation when she clearly has barely a cent to her name. She says she isn't doing it for the money so why is she? And then there are the Thorpes, when after Grace is successfully declared pregnant, offer their guesthouse on the grounds of their vast property for the duration of the pregnancy. This solves numerous problems Grace has and she gratefully accepts. But...are the Thorpes as kind as they seem?

It soon becomes clear Grace feels she has made an error of judgement but it's too late as she has no place to return to - no house, no money and no one to go to (except for Sydney who already has a busy home/family life). She feels stifled with no room to breathe as the Thorpes continually pop up offering platitudes, help and annoyingly touching her pregnant belly. Invasion of personal space MUCH! It doesn't matter that the space belongs to the Thorpes, it is Grace's for the duration.

And then she meets Clayton, who runs the local coffee shop in he small town. Without wanting to, Grace lets her guard down with him and for the first time in a long time, is able to be herself. Throughout the ensuing months, he becomes her saving grace (pun intended).

The twist, when it comes, is unexpected, twisted and delicious. It is so disturbing and paranoid and completely senseless but it is so good. I said the story doesn't have to brilliant or unpredictable...it just have to give me a good ride for the duration...and it did. And then, that ending. Those final words... A clever touch. Leave readers guessing but looking over their shoulders.

Despite my thorough enjoyment of this twisted little tale, there was a couple of random things that just came out of left field which was just senseless with no real explanation. Really, if you don't want know the gender of the baby, why would you paint the exterior of your house pink? And purchase various items in hues of pink. And the behaviour of the Thorpes throughout was completely suspect. They were truly a weird couple, I wonder why Grace didn't pick up on that before making her lifechanging decision. And despite me feeling as though they were suspect, what did the rest of the town have against them? It seemed everyone spoke in whispers about Grace being their surrogate and they didn't seem to agree with the whole idea. Why? That was never really explained.

By the end of the book, although I enjoyed the ride I was taken on, the whole thing just felt so incredibly sad. It's not a thriller, more of a suspense, but it just feels so so sad.

The story unfolds through Grace's narrative throughout in both the past and present, revealing just enough at the right time. And it is just so tragic. And I guess when the truth of her past is revealed, the reader can understand why Grace chose to become a surrogate without ever having being pregnant before. It truly was meant to be a selfless gift and yet its truth is just so incredibly sad.

Although the title has been changed to PERFECT PARENTS, I do feel the previous one "The Surrogate's Gift" is far more apt. Because it is essentially about Grace's gift to a childless couple as well as the weirdness of the so-called "perfect parents".

PERFECT PARENTS is not really what I was expecting, though I wasn't sure what I expected, but it was an enjoyable and addictive read that may be a tad far fetched but a thrilling ride that is deliciously twisted all the same. It doesn't have to make sense nor does it have to believable. It just has to be enjoyable. And it was.

Although I have only read two tales of domestic suspense by L.G. Davis I actually quite like her simple yet complex style. I look forward to reading more from her and expect they will be just as twisted, addictive and even a little far fetched (maybe?). But I don't care. As long as they are entertaining and keep me engaged throughout.

I would like to thank #LGDavis, #NetGalley and #Bookouture for an ARC of #PerfectParents in exchange for an honest review.

Grace is really struggling after the death of her sister. Grace’s way of coping is to give the gift of a baby to a struggling couple. She meets Marcia and Travis and thinks they are wonderful. Graces moves in with them and starts to hear the whispers and rumors around town. Everyone has secrets and Grace is becoming worried for her life.

This book definitely gets better the farther you get into it. I had my suspicions on what was going to happen and who the villain was but ultimately I was wrong. This was a pretty fast paced read for me as well as it kept my attention. I loved the ending!

Thank you to L.G Davis, Bookouture, and the Netgalley for a copy of this book to read.

Firstly thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC in return for an honest review.
This book captured my interest very early on and I believe it was the character of Grace that kept me turning the pages and unwilling to put it down. We first meet her when she agrees to be a surrogate for Marcia and Travis, they seem a nice enough couple, but from the off there is obviously more to Grace and why she is really doing this, seemingly selfless act. She is a very likeable character, even though at times she annoyed me, especially when the book would go back in time to Graces life before and the reason behind it all became clear. I did enjoy the back in time parts as well, it led the story right up to the point in present time and explained a lot.

I really enjoyed the projection of the plot and wondering were it would go next and rooting for Grace the whole time. The behaviour of Marcia and Travis was weird and so overbearing, I just wanted her to cut ties and run.
I loved the ending, though that end ending!!!! Will there be a sequel or perhaps we the reader are just left to wonder.
A fast paced, captivating read and I highly recommend it.

The Surrogate’s Gift L G Davis

5 stars

I absolutely love it when I read a book like this one and then realise that the author has already written lots of books before. L G Davis is now one of the authors that I will put on my list and try to read her previous novels.

I started this book and was so engrossed in the story that I finished it in 3 days. The story starts in 2018 when Grace Cooper has decided to have a surrogate baby for Travis and Marcia Thorpe, a happily married couple who appear to have everything in life except the child that Marcia cannot have. Grace has found this couple on the internet, exchanged emails and then finally met them and finds them the perfect potential parents for her child. She wants no financial reward but just wants to make them happy.

We found out later on in the book Grace’s back story, how, back in 2013, she had a high-flying job, a strong relationship and a wonderful bond with her twin sister Rachel. Everything changed for Grace when her sister asks her to be a surrogate for her after losing so many babies. Grace agrees but her boyfriend, Chad, is totally against this idea and makes her decide between him and her sister. The tragedy that ensues from this is why Grace now wants to be a surrogate.

However as the story progresses so many other events happen and I was flying through the pages wanting to know what happens. There are so many twists and turns which I will not reveal, as that would spoil the book for the reader. Even better for me is that there is a strong chance that this story will continue in a further book. I will certainly be requesting this book if it does appear.

This ARC was provided to me via Kindle, from Bookouture and #NetGalley. Thank you for the opportunity to preview and review. Opinions expressed are completely my own.

Lively, suspenseful, entertaining, full of twists and turns. You won’t want to put it down.

I had a really hard time getting into this book, I think mostly due to the obvious lack of experience/research into surrogacy and pregnancy. As a former surrogate, the inaccuracies concerning surrogacy really bothered me. The story did get interesting in the end and it became pretty obvious that all parties involved in this “surrogacy” would never have passed the psychological evaluation. For a thriller, it was pretty predictable.

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to review this book.

This is a foray into a new author for me, but I couldn’t resist after reading the premise.
It’s a new concept for me in regards to the plot as well, it’s not the run of the mill thriller concept that is prevalent in a lot of books in this genre.
So, does this stand out synopsis provide me with a stand out read? On the whole….yes.
The story is definitely an uncomfortable one to read and get to grips with, but I like that. I enjoy being challenged and taken out of my comfort zone.
The characters were written well, but that doesn’t mean I liked them. Some were really hard to feel anything for but again, in the context of the story, I didn’t mind.
This is a book that I would recommend to people in the future.
Thank you to the author, the publisher and Netgalley for my arc.

Uncomfortable, claustrophic, intricate and engrossing.

Grace’s story of giving her child to a family is a immersive read, with twists and turns and eventually a good end.

I felt the emotions in this were so well written it was a little tiring so I recommend this for when you have time to really engage.
