Every Good Gift was such a compelling story! I liked that the author was able to show that the two main characters, Maisy and Joshua, were deep thinkers, who struggled with things that had happened or choices they had made. The way Joshua was drawn to Maisy, even knowing that she was pregnant by an English boy, showed what a kind man he was. Maisy definitely knew her actions during her rumspringa were foolish, and she had to deal with a lot in this story. Her friendship with Joshua was something that ended up being a precious thing to her.

The way Maisy’s parents and the community that she traveled to treated her situation seemed very realistic. I found myself frequently frustrated with the bishop’s suggestions regarding Maisy and Joshua, even though I think that his heart was in the right place.

Joshua had a lot to work through in this book. Grief had taken hold of him for ten years and pulled him away from trusting God. His journey back to leaning on God in all things and taking his place in the Amish community was a touching one.

An unplanned pregnancy for a young Amish woman forces a change of home for Maisy. She needs a breath of air and chooses to move to her cousin's house which is a train ride away from home. Though not yet baptized, Maisy is still burdened with her very visible mistake. The Englisch boy father wants no part of the baby and Maisy is relieved as they have such different beliefs.

Although the new Amish community knows of her situation, Maisy does move more freely there. She is able to assist her cousin with her household and asked to find a job.

Maisy Glick wanted to experience her rumspringa as Amish teens were allowed prior to joining the church. Maisy never doubted that she'd join the faith of her family. She just wanted to experience the Englisch world first. And she did. What she didn't expect was to fall so hard for an Englisch boy (Nate) and find herself throwing up each day after their relationship ended.
Nate is headed off to college and doesn't want a wife and baby at this time in his life. Maisy wants to remain Amish, join the church and raise her child Amish. She knows this news of hers will devastate her family. And, it did.
In her shame, she ran away to her cousin, Ruth's home where Ruth greets her with open arms. Ruth's husband, Amos, not so much.
Ruth and Amos' community is not allowed to speak to her. She is not allowed to attend their church services. They fear the younger ones will see her condition and sin as acceptable. An example must be made of her.
Joshua Lapp, whom she met when she arrived in town, gave her a ride out to Ruth and Amos' home where he is employed by Amos. Joshua became her friend. He has yet to join the church as he is dealing with anger towards God for a huge loss he suffered as a boy. He asks the age-old question of why a good God would allow this to happen.
The bishop has warned him to stay away from Maisy, but he doesn't. They become friends. Maisy has learned her lesson and wants to do nothing to bring more shame upon herself or family. Joshua has genuine respect for Maisy and does not judge her as many others do.
This is such a well written story. Great characters. You feel as though you're there with them.

I love Amish fiction, and Kelly Irvin continues to do it well as evidenced by this third book in her Amish Blessings series. This touching return to Haven, Kansas, is my favorite of the series. Although carryover characters from previous books make an appearance, this book can easily be read as a standalone. The plot, with some unexpected twists, drew me in from the beginning and kept me engaged to the end. The characters are well crafted, and Ms. Irvin does an excellent job of tapping into their emotions. I could feel Maisy’s remorse over her sin and Joseph’s anguish over the loss of his brother. I appreciate the strong faith thread with themes of forgiveness, redemption, and God’s will. I think other fans of Amish fiction will like this compelling, inspiring read as much as I did, and I highly recommend it and the series.

Just because you are Amish doesn’t mean it can’t happen to you. Maisy gave her heart and more to an 'Englisch' boy during 'rumspringa'. Now that is at an end and he is off to college and Maisy is pregnant. To lessen the talk, Maisy goes to Haven, Kansas to quietly live with her cousin.

Living in Haven does help but there is Joshua who isn’t bothered to be seen with her despite the local bishop’s “guidance”. There is a reason why Joshua ignores the warning and it’s linked to the death of his twin brother.

My review …
Ever been on a trip — a wonderful trip but as you pull into the driveway, you sigh and say, “It’s good to be home.” Maisy longs for that feeling of being home. Loved. Safe. Welcoming. Home. But her pregnancy causes the house and community she grew up in could no longer be home.

Okay, I’ll admit it. When Nate Taylor, father of Maisy’s baby, sees Jamesport in his rearview mirror — I HAD to read this book. You see I know Jamesport and those back roads. His family went to church in Gallatin on Sunday. We didn’t shop in Gallatin often but did on occasion.

Nate wasn’t a bad kid. But he was immature and used the “love” word too easily. Thus an unwanted pregnancy.

In this story, the author shows that whether Amish or 'Englisch', the same questions are there. Does the young mother give up her baby? Does the baby’s father accept responsibility or say terminate it? Do the strict Amish parents truly forgive her? Do his parents accept their son’s decision or try to intervene? All of this and more are interwoven into this story.

The other interesting plot concerns Joshua who finds it hard to accept his twin brother’s death with the kind of acceptance that is expected by the Amish. His friendship with Maisy grows as they spend time together. Maisy tells him he is angry at God. His explanation is thought-provoking. He says that he can’t “feel” God. Hmmmmmm…

A truly enjoyable read and one I recommend although I wondered about Maisy working in an 'Englisch' store and Amos, her cousin’s husband requiring her to “get a job”. She was certainly sequestered in the Amish community yet the bishop did not object to her working among Englischers.

Every Good Gift, Book 3 in the Amish Blessings series was beautiful. The author took a difficult topic and instead of handling it the way one would think, she made the reader think outside the box and created a beautiful tapestry of words, thoughts, emotions and feelings all woven together. I was able to see the pain, emotion and heartbreak from all sides and in the end realize there is beauty and brokenness, joy and pain in each decision we make. God has a way of turning even what seems to be a negative situation in this sinful world we live in into something absolutely beautiful.

Every Good Gift by Kelly Irvin, book three in the Amish Blessings series, is a sweet story of forgiveness, especially of oneself, generosity, grief, and faith. Maisy and Joshua's story is one of love, faith, overcoming hurts, new beginnings and hope. It’s also about repentance, accepting G-d's forgiveness, and seeking G-d's will.

Maisy Glick, a young Amish girl, who become pregnant while on her Rumspringa and seeing a non-Amish boy, Nate Taylor. Nate has plans for his life and those plans do not include a baby; leaving Maisy alone. After confessing her situation to her parents, and wanting to save them from the shame and humiliation she has caused, Maisy runs away, to live with her cousin in Haven Kansas. Maisy is young and she considers putting her baby up for adoption. She wants her baby to be raised Amish with a mother and father. However, when the time comes for her child to be born she will have to face whether to give her child to an Amish couple, unable to have children of their own, or break their hearts by keeping the baby as her own.

Joshua Lapp has struggled with his Amish faith and angry at G-d since he suffered a terrible loss when he was twelve; the loss of his twin brother. Since then he has been questioning why G-d allowed such a terrible thing was allowed to happen. His family and the bishop want him to confront his anger, forgive himself, and join the church. Joshua never planned on getting married or having a family. That is, until he meets Maisy and finds himself drawn to her and her situation.

Ms. Irvin wrote a wonderfully sweet and moving story that had me feeling all the emotions; shame, grief, embarrassment, forgiveness, acceptance, and love. The message of love, faith, and forgiveness stood strong; making this sweet and inspirational read one I could not put down, drawing me in, making me forget it was fiction. This inspiring and touching story will stay with you long after you finish reading it. I highly recommend Every Good Gift to other readers.

This is a Clean Amish Romance, and this is the third book in the Amish Blessings series. This book does cover some hard hitting topics that could trigger some people, so please look into the triggers before reading this book if you get triggered by things you read. This book shows some of the bad things about the Amish, but it also shows that the Amish are just people. I really love the slow moving romance in this book. The story in this book hit my heart so hard, and I love it so much. The characters in this book were so great. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Zondervan) or author (Kelly Irvin) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

Every Good Gift was such a beautiful and tender story of redemption and forgiveness. I read the last several chapters with tears in my eyes and believe me when I say it was really hard to read while constantly having to wipe away the tears!! I really felt for Maisy and even though I knew she'd get her happy ending it was still bittersweet. Joshua was such a sweet support for her and I couldn't help but root for them the whole way through.

Kelly Irvin really knows how to write a beautiful love story and this has become my new favorite by her!

Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review. All opinions are my own,

Welcome back to Haven! This is the third book in the “Amish Blessings” series. You can read this as a stand alone book. However, I do recommend reading the other books in the series because they are so great! This is Maisy’s story. Marist gets pregnant with an Englisher’s baby during her rumspringa. She leaves her family and goes to her cousin's house to avoid embarrassing her family. We see her possibly getting a second chance with Joshua, a young man who is fighting his own heartache. Once I started reading, I couldn’t wait to see how the story turned out! Get the tissues ready for this one.

Kelly Irvin never disappoints and she went above my expectations in her new novel. I have loved this series, but this one is my favorite in the trilogy. I thought the author penned an emotional storyline, leaving me feel nothing by compassion for her characters.

Maisy and Joshua Lapp are sweet, kind people who are each struggling with very different challenges in their lives but to their credit they do the best they can. I enjoyed watching their friendship strengthen and how caring Joshua was to Maisy.

One of the many things I absolutely loved is the character driven story which captured my attention from the very beginning. This clean Amish romance can be read as a standalone and added to your TBR stack as soon as possible. Filled with memorable characters, love, forgiveness and faith this novel is one of my favorite books I have recently read.

My thanks to the publisher for providing a copy through Netgalley. Opinions are my own.

I really have enjoyed every Kelly Irvin book I've read and this one has been no exception.
The author has a way with words, penning such a realistic book.
There are some very tough subjects dealt with here. It's not a light easy read, it's actually a rather emotional one.
A young plain woman, a young plain man and an Amish couple all have things they are dealing with, things that are not easy at all. Through God's love, redemption, forgiveness and lots of talking it out they are able to get through.
Sometimes the way that is the best way is not the easiest way.
This is a clean Amish romance and the third book in the Amish Blessings series but can be read as a stand-alone.
I found this to be an emotionally story written full of acceptance, hope, redemption, love, faith and finally accepting God's forgiveness.

Every Good Gift by Kelly Irvin is the third novel in the Amish Blessings series. It can be read as a standalone for those new to the series. I was eager to read this story (I moved it ahead of other books on my TBR list). I like Kelly Irvin’s writing style. It is friendly and engaging. I was easily drawn into the story. Maisy Glick is on her rumspringa and has an English boyfriend. When Maisy discovers she is pregnant, she makes a decision. Maisy does not want her family to be embarrassed by her actions. She departs for Haven, Kansas to stay with her cousin. Joshua Lapp is at the bus station sending his family off on their trip. He sees an exhausted Maisy and offers her transportation to her cousin’s farm. Joshua is not a baptized member of the church despite being in his early twenties. Joshua misses his twin brother who died when they were twelve. He is angry at God and does not understand how God can allow a child to die. Joshua befriends Maisy despite warnings from the bishop. Maisy has some tough decisions to make. What does God have in store for these two lost souls? Every Good Gift is a touching story. I thought the characters were realistic and relatable. The author did a wonderful job of describing the emotions the characters were feeling. Maisy and Joshua learn some valuable life lessons. Maisy needs to find a way to forgive herself so she can move forward while Joshua needs to let go of his grief and anger towards God. I like that we are reminded that “Every one of us has sinned and fallen short of the glory of Gott.” We only have to seek forgiveness and He will give it. I was sorry when Every Good Gift came to an end. I enjoyed getting to know the characters and going on their journey with them. I like that we get to catch up with the characters from Love’s Dwelling and The Warmth of Sunshine. Every Good Gift is a story about love, compassion, faith, family, forgiveness, and hope.

Knowing life with her baby's father is not an option, Maisy decides to leave town and stay with her cousin. Maisy wants to avoid shaming her family since she is an unwed Amish mother. Her cousin welcomes her with open arms, but her cousin's husband Amos isn't so welcoming. Maisy slowly develops a friendship with Joshua who works for Amos. While Maisy is strong her faith, Joshua has been struggling with his since he lost his twin in a fire. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. I really like reading this series dealing with different family issues. I like that both Maisy and Joshua haven't been baptized yet, which allows them the freedom to develop a relationship. I also like that they are both strong people who are trying to do the right thing. I have really enjoyed reading this book and this series.

Kelly Irvin’s latest book, Every Good Gift, is another example of why she is one of my favorite authors. Full of moments that make you giggle and make you want to cry, this book will keep you up so you can finish it! Maisy is a young Amish woman who becomes pregnant by an English boy. She leaves home and goes to her cousin Ruth’s house so as not to drag her family into her shame. She is alone and sad and desperate to find hope. Joshua is a young man who lost his twin brother in a house fire ten years ago. He is angry and hurt and not sure how to move forward. When maisy moves in with her cousin, she and Joshua develop and unlikely friendship. As she struggles to make the best choice for her new baby, he seeks answers to help heal his heart. Together, they will discover that God has a plan that they could never have imagined. I wish the series wasn’t at an end. I’d love to keep reading about all the people in Haven!
