Latest in a series, but could easily be read as a stand-alone. Carly gets tangled in another murder investigation after she helps cater a bridal shower. As always, the writing is good and the mystery well-developed. I felt, though, that with this book Carly’s reasons for getting so involved in the investigation were thinner than in previous books in the series, making it harder to understand why she would go to all the effort she does to help uncover the truth. It also makes it feel like a stretch when other characters answer her probing questions despite the fact she has only a tenuous connection to the people involved. I will continue with the series and hope the next book doesn’t have the same issue. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy in exchange for an honest opinion.

I enjoyed this latest addition to this new series.
Carly is a strong character and getting to know her has been fun. I live grilled cheese sandwiches and this series is quickly becoming my favorite.
Things take a turn for the worst when a dead body wreaks havoc at a bridal shower.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for selecting me to read an advanced copy of this book.

When Carly runs into two old high school classmates, she saves the day by agreeing ti cater the bridal shower for one of them. Not what Carly had planned for her business, but a friend in need and all that.

At the shower, Carly’s grilled donut sandwiches are a hit. Unfortunately the shower ends on a down note when the fiancé falls down the stairs to his death. Carly can’t stand to see one of her friends so heartbroken and the other being the prime suspect, so she finds herself looking into things. Is she long about her friends being innocent? Who would want to kill the groom? Turns out there were a few people who had some issues with the groom, but are any of them enough to kill for? Carly better watch her step, because if the killer would kill someone they were close to, Carly would be an easy next target if she gets too close.

Another solid entry in this series. Filled with well developed characters, a cute Morkie, solid whodunits each time and plenty of red herrings to keep you guessing until the final reveal. A good cozy series worth investing your time in as you won’t be disappointed. And the recipes are an added plus.

I missed the second book, but it didn't matter. (I have requested it from the library though.)

I like the characters and setting. The story was complex enough to keep me guessing though I knew whodunnit, if not 100% why, a little before Carly. I also like the realism, Carly actually has to work and just doesn't take off at will to investigate.

Another hit in a fun series. When Carly meets up with some old school friends, she gets talked into catering for one of their bridal showers. When the groom ends up dead it becomes complicated. Carly can't help herself when she gets asked to help and starts questioning others. Pushing a murderer is never a good sign though, and she gets into trouble for it. Like this one, and also like the recipes at the end. Highly recommend.
