I never had a chance to read it. It stayed available for a day or two after I got approved and then it went into the archives. It sounded like an exciting read though.

Tom is now living in Northern California working as a ranger in the forest. When he meets a man named Mateo he knows that there is a problem. A bigger problem comes when men come thinking that they can take him out after the night he had helped Mateo. Trying to scare him away like others have these will finally figure out that you cannot kill him. The person that is probably surprised the most is Reiko a local police officer. After she helps him take out the MS-13 gang that was in the house she knows what he is capable of. What really gets her though is when he takes out the men that were with them in an elevator she had never seen anything like it before, she had never seen anyone like Tom before either. In the end, she knew he would leave and probably never see him again. was a good book in this series and one that was a little different. I liked this one very much so much going on and will keep anyone who reads it entertained until the last paged. Good characters as well.

This story is well written, easy to read and has a very good pace. However, things aren't very logical, like why wouldn't the workers get proper food and water?

You should not let Tom Rollins live in a place in the forest. No Quarter by paul Heatley is the latest addition to this series about ex soldier Rollins trying to keep a low profile and keep to himself. Well, good luck with that. I really like this character and the troubles that he faces in each book. Heatley has created a great character that like Reacher travels around trying to stay out of trouble. This time he works as a forest ranger in northern California, but the quiet forest and small adjacent town is not a very nice place. Tom encounters people from south of the border in the woods and the state that there in tells him that they are not regular hikers. What is going on and who are the guys shooting at him? Well the book is out on August the 7th then you can have as much fun as I did reading this book. Thanks to Inkubator books and Netgalley for supplying me with this advance copy and Paul Heatley for making this stuff up.

Gripping thriller, absolute page-turned. Would love to see a movie of this! Minus one star, only for a slight lack of originality.

The latest chronicle in the saga of Tom Rollins will be released on August 7, 2022. For those who have been following Rollins' exploits in the previous five novels, you wil welcome another chapter in Rollins' life. For those new to the series, Rollins is an ex-Army sniper who is given to traveling the country, trying to find peace and quiet, something that eludes him at every juncture. Here, he is working as a forest ranger in a national forest in northern California. He finds three armed men chasing a malnourished Mexican, Mateo, through the forest and decides to get involved. In this small forest town, there is little crime, but suddenly MS-13 members are gathering in diners and folks are a bit unsettled.

From beginning to end, this novel is well-written and captivating. It is an easy read and the pages will practically turn themselves. There is plenty of action and, indeed, far more than anyone would have suspected in a small out-of-the-way mountain town. Yes, there are many action novels involving ex-Army, ex-Special Forces, etc., guys who can somehow by themselves take on an Army or two, but even in this genre, this is one of the best.

I read all day to finish this novel. and coincidentally it was the hottest day in July, I mention this because the characters involved in the novel are affected by a heatwave too. So I could relate to them. What an exciting thriller it was, it starts with Tom Rollins as the main character, and the novel is full of questions at first as any writer who is good at his craft knows they get the reader interested. Having got my interest the author kept it, and it increased towards the end of the book. I would highly recommend this book, and the others by this author.
