I can always count on Paige to suck me in from the first paragraph and it will not be an easy ride, but it will be raw, honest, emotional, heartbreaking, real slap in the face of reality.

When a book evokes every emotion than in my book its a 5 star.

I can't wait for the next book in this series.

This was one of those books that you just can't put down. My heart was in constant turmoil over the neglect and abuse Rainey had to go through. Raging against the so called parents that neglected and abused her over the years. What an emotional ride.. I might just be calm again by the time the second book releases next week.. I hope.
An outstanding read.

The abuse and trauma in this book is unrelenting. I immediately felt bad for Rainey but in the end couldn’t understand why it was so hard for her to tell the truth to someone. Anyone. Her fear of being separated from Ivy was palpable but isn’t that better than allowing their abuse to continue? I was hoping for a joyous ending and was disappointed by the long drawn out story with no real end except that there is another book.

Another gripping true to reality book by Paige Dearth. The story of Rainey, born addicted to heroin and brought up in the most harrowing circumstances by the most selfish parents. It is a story of neglect, friendships, betrayal and courage. Above all it brings home the abuse and neglect that some children endure every day.
What Rainey lives through is devasating. The book devours you into a world of drugs, hardship and survival. It is hard to read and heartbreaking. Definitely not a book for anyone who is easily shocked.
I am hoping that the follow-up "A Little High" will bring a little light into Rainey's life.

Ok, so this book is so well written that I was so angry at points, I had to put it down for a bit. The child abuse and drug abuse was rampant. I felt every pain Rainey and then Ivy felt. As usual Paige Dearth makes you feel it all, like dirt under your nails. Very well done, although I hate that it’s finished kind of open ended. I hadn’t realized it was the beginning of a series. Thank you for the Netgalley early read.

I have read most everything by this author and I truly adore her. She writes from the heart, the stories are raw yet beautiful. Rainey was born an addict because her mother was a drug user. She lived in poverty because her parents only wanted to party and get high. Yet Rainey knew that was not the life for her. She tried to look after her baby sister the best she could. She loved her Aunt Sophie who was the only person who had time for her. But Sophie had been having symptoms of Huntingdon’s for a while and had to go into a care facility. Rainey was heartbroken . But Rainey has a core of strength in her and remains a loving, gentle and caring girl. I cannot wait for the second book in this series and follow Rainey’s journey through life.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A little pinprick by. Paige Dearth is not for the faint hearted, It is traumatizing reading and I've read alot of books of all genre's and at times I wasn't sure that I wanted to continue but with morbid curiosity I ploughed on.
The story starts from the moment Rainey is born to her drug addicted parents, from that moment on she has to fight for her life as she has no one to depend on and it is amazing she has the will to do so, her only shining light in her grim world is her little sister Ivy and she will do what ever it takes to keep her safe.
This novel will stay with you for a long time and as you are reading along you just hope Rainey can find away to leave her truly terrible life behind and save her Sister. I'm looking forward to part two.

Once again Paige Dearth writes a masterpiece.

If you like a book that tells it like it is and keeps the story real than this is an author for you.

A Little Pinprick is a story of family, drugs, abuse and gangs.
It’s about a baby girl who was born addicted to heroin and to two young people who cared more about their next high than about their baby daughter. It’s a story of what living in a home with drug addicts can be like and the reality of what an addict will do to get their next fix.

It’s a sad tale of the reality we live in today……..a tale of the love between a girl and her aunt……..a tale of a girl and the love she has for her sibling……..a tale of a young girl with a huge heart.

I started reading Paige Dearth when she released her first book and have not been able to put one of her books down since. I know some people will say these books are disturbing and you will be right. But the thing about Paige is she knows what the things she writes about feels like. She’s been thru a lot of it herself. So before any of you judge understand who this author is.

Love ya Paige. Can not wait for A Little High.

Thank you to the author and publisher for allowing me to read this in advance. Once again Paige Dearth has written an amazing book that I couldn’t put down. I felt so many emotions reading this book. Rainey has had a hard life and this book starts at her birth and describes what it was like for her growing up with drug addicted parents . Her aunt was the one shining light in her life and when she can’t see Rainey anymore due to illness , she no longer has a reprieve from the dark world she is being raised in. Most days she has to scrounge for food and things go from bad to worse for her as she gets older and her parents use her to pay their debts to their dealers. When Rainey’s mother has a baby Rainey becomes responsible for her life and well being as well . And then she spends time in a juvenile detention center for something she didn’t even do . This book was absolutely heart wrenching but also hopeful because Rainey is a fighter . I cannot wait to read the next book!,

I’ve read several books by author Paige Dearth and each and every one is an enlightening and educational read. Although they are very heartbreaking as they deal with life’s most tragic and disgusting circumstances, they are eye-opening and really give the reader a look at how some people have to live and the tragic experiences they go through. A Little Pinprick is the story of Rainey Paxton. She is born addicted to drugs because her parents are both heroin addicts along with every other drug that’s out there. Their whole world is all about getting their next high. Rainey is left to take care of herself, she is starved for food, and lives in deplorable conditions. Once a week she gets a break by spending time with her aunt until the aunt becomes ill with Huntington’s Disease and is no longer able to be there for her. Then a few years later, Rainey’s mother gives birth to her little sister Ivy. Rainey’s new purpose in life is to take care of Ivy. Everything she does is out of concern for her baby sister. Rainey soon ends up in Juvenile Detention for something she didn’t do and this is where she learns to toughen up. After 3 years away, she is released back out into the world, back to the ugliness she grew up with. What will become of her now? I’m anxiously waiting to read A Little High, which is book 2 in the Rainey Paxton series to see where she goes from here. Will her life experiences and knowledge lead her to a better, fulfilling life or will she fall between the cracks and end up like her parents? I’d like to thank Paige Dearth for reaching out and inviting me to read her new book and NetGalley for the arc. I always learn so much from reading this authors work, most of it being sad and heartbreaking but very educational since I was fortunate to not have experienced this lifestyle. I recommend everyone read her books as we can all gain in learning how life is for the less fortunate and grow compassion for them instead of turning a blind eye. This I feel is another 5 star read by a great author!

It was a wonderful story about Rainey, her parents drug addicts, bringing up her sister which the mother wouldn't do and spending 3 years in juvenile prison. Its telling the story about what it's like to be abused and also no food and clothes. The author has done an excellent job. Can't wait till story 2 to come out.
Thank you for letting me read it.

Another incredible story by Paige Dearth. It all seemed to real and heartbreaking too. Unfortunately things like this do happen which makes you want to gather up all the abused and neglected children and prevent any harm to them, Can't wait until Part 2 to see if my expectations are fulfilled.

This book was another hit from the author. Good storyline which holds the reader’s attention. As usual the author does not candycoat serious situations but let’s her writing take over. Will be awaiting the next book in this series.
