I absolutely loved this book. Young is one of my favorite authors. With many twists and turns, it will keep you guessing

I loved In Nightfall. A female version of Lost Boys was so much fun. When I started reading this, I was immediately pulled into the eerie town of Nightfall, Oregon. Mysterious, thrilling, and just so much fun!

In Nightfall is a mash up of Buffy, The Lost Boys, and Twilight--Theo moves from Arizona to Oregon for the summer with her newly divorced dad and brother, living with the grandmother she's never met, who is very weird, about as weird as the town of Nightfall. Immediately things aren't quite normal, with grandma insisting Theo can't stay out after dark and the town's inhabitants disappearing when the sun goes down, leaving behind a rowdy group of beautiful teens who glom on to the siblings. Meanwhile, the town slowly reveals its secrets as Theo gets closer and closer to the annual Midnight Dive.

I really enjoyed In Nightfall. The characters are lovable and the setting is very Twilight with a touristy twist. I was eager to see how Theo was going to unravel the mysteries of the town and how everything was going to shake out. The dialogue is snappy, and Theo was never a frustrating narrator. The book moves along at a quick clip and I felt the ending was satisfying.

There are a few moments of confusion about the world building--some of the rules seem a little nebulous or easily broken--and I was not quite sure it helped the narrative to keep Theo in the dark about the town for as long as she is, but I still really enjoyed the ride.

Thank you so much NetGalley for this advanced copy. I have never read a book by Suzanne Young before but this book had me hooked from the beginning. In Nightfall is compare to being similar to Lost Boys and Buffy. I have never seen the Lost Boys but after looking it up I agree. This would be a great book to read around Halloween time

This book sucks. Sucks you in that is. In Nightfall is a thrilling vampire novel that you won't be able to put down. When Theo & Marco's dad drag them to spend a summer in Nightfall, Oregon with their grandma, they assume it will be a bore...especially since they've never even met Nonna or visited before.

Something is off from the second they arrive. Nonna is obsessed with them being home after dark. Many locals are mysterious and drop-dead gorgeous. There's a really creepy mural. And everything seems a little off.

From page one, author Suzanne Young establishes an eerie tone. As the reader, you know what everything is building to through the vampire tropes the characters don't quite pick up on, but that won't stop you from being HUNGRY to keep reading. The best horror isn't revolutionary - it's in the execution of the vibe. And Young is an executioner.

Only downside of the work is the minimal diversity. Majority of the characters are white and cishet except for a gay couple and Minnow, the lead vamp who is a black teen.

I read this entire book in one three hour sitting in the bathtub while trying to stave off a mental breakdown. This was not a conducive setting to writing a review. I have no coherent thoughts regarding this book, but it was fun, and it did indeed stave off the mental breakdown, and the vampire babes seem fun. Although there seem to be enough books with girls from Arizona moving to the “rainiest place in the continental US” and then meeting hot vampires and being called Arizona as a nickname (“Sup Arizona! How you liking the rain girl?” -Mike Wheeler, Twilight) but I will never complain about more twilight-esque stories. Also the romance in this had a very satisfying ending and I was pleased with it. So. That’s about all the thoughts I have.

This book was a RIOT! Almost impossibly cool and super scary to boot. A hip mashup of BUFFY, TWILIGHT, and THE LOST BOYS, this book will grab your attention from start to finish.
