In Nightfall is like a love letter to the Lost Boys. That right there was enough for me to love it. Give me anything with vampires and I’m happy honestly.
This was a fun book with so many fun characters. Even the vampires were so fun.

Such a creepy atmospheric read. Ok really enjoyed the setting and how the plot played out. Good read!

I decided to read this after watching the Lost Boys again, which definitely helped me power through. Some of the larger story can't hold up to today's technology though, and the general explanation just fell a bit flat. I needed some more to it to really make this today's update.

One of the BEST YA horror books I have read this year. I may sound like a broken record but this was the best themed mash up of Lost Boys/Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Salem’s Lot all wrapped up in one story. I did NOT want it to end! I read this in one shot.Totally cliche but Suzanne Young SLAYED with this book and if you are a fan of creepy towns and vampires, this is for you!

This was the best paranormal horror book I’ve read in a while! @authorsuzanneyoung SLAYED (get it?) this novel I couldn’t put it down and found myself immersed in this world. And the cover? Come on! So good—I highly recommend it!

I ended up not getting through this one. It just isn't my type of book. There wasn't anything wrong with the writing or the story, I just couldn't get into it because the vibe was just not something I gravitate toward. I'm am looking forward to what she writes next, though!

When Theo and Marco's parents divorce, their dad takes them to spend the summer with the grandmother they've never met in a spooky town in the Pacific Northwest. Coming from sunny Arizona, the teens are shocked by the darkness of Nightfall and its creepy residents.

I wanted to love this because it seemed so much like something I would but it fell flat. And to be frank, if you've seen the 80s movie, The Lost Boys, you don't really need to read this. It's the same thing except the MCs are women and it doesn't have the same ridiculous 80s movie appeal.

If I didn't have a nostalgic feel for that movie I probably wouldn't have liked this or maybe even finished it. It mostly seemed like a sad regurgitation of that script.

This book was a fun twist on The Lost Boys and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It had some laugh out loud and darker moments which was an entertaining combination! The world building was also interesting and well done. Fun YA horror novel that would be great for spooky season!

As everyone around here knows, I'm a huge fan of Suzanne Young and all of her books. She's such a talented writer and her prose is so accessible (definitely mean that as a compliment - I read her stories SO quickly!). IN NIGHTFALL is a bit different for her in some ways, and different for my reading tastes as well... which I loved!

The story follows Theo and her brother Marco as they head to Nightfall, Oregon with their father for the summer as punishment for a big party they threw. Her dad is originally from there and his mom lives there, so they stay with her. She's been an enigma in the kids' lives and they're basically meeting her for the first time. She's prickly and has a lot of weird rules, like don't stay out after dark and don't talk with the locals. Naturally both of them ignore these rules and immediately fall in with some local teens.

The town (and most people there) are really creepy and mysterious. There are some upcoming traditions that they want Theo and Marco to partake in, as well as their nightly parties on the beach. Theo starts to feel like something weird is in the air in Nightfall and these two podcasters in town for the Midnight Dive event are investigating it as well.

The book is a little creepy but breezy and easy to read as well. I really liked the tension being slowly turned up throughout the book as Theo kind of pieces together what's going on. This book is compared to Buffy and The Lost Boys (neither of which I've seen), so you can likely assume what happens next.

I don't have too much to say about this one for some reason but I just enjoyed the experience of reading it! The characters were interesting to follow along (if a little shallow in some ways) and the ending was a bit of an info-dump in spots, but I really liked reading it. I blazed through most of the book in a morning on the beach. I'd recommend it if you enjoy any of the comp titles/shows I mentioned or Suzanne Young's books in general!

In Nightfall by Suzanne Young is a good YA gender swapped Lost Boys with some Buffy the Vampire Slayer elements as well. I loved the atmosphere and the setting of the story the most. It took a little too long for the story to get going especially in terms of the main character. Otherwise, I think my expectations might have simply been a little too high.

Did I know what Nightfalls' big secret was almost immediately? Yep.
Did it prevent me from enjoying this creepy town, family secret, toss in some podcasters, romance and danger riot of a story? Absolutely not!

Also, Nona was the best grandmother in the history of monster fighter grandmothers. Seriously- what a delightful badass!

Anyone who knows me knows I LOVE The Lost Boys - it's one of my very favorite horror movies. As soon as I saw this one being compared to it, I had to read it! But unfortunately, this was a let-down. The plot was messy and choppy, not to mention boring at parts, and I never truly felt for any of the characters. It felt like reading a cheesy teen drama, but with none of the emotional connections. The ending also wrapped things up too conveniently...and didn't have any of the expected action or horror I was waiting for. I'd skip this one, unless you want a mindless read.

I enjoyed reading In Nightfall. It is very much The Lost Boys, but with girls. I love that movie and it was fun to read this book with it being so similar.

Even though I don't particularly enjoy horror, this title was well-written and interesting enough to be a page-turner.

i had a lot of fun with this one! it wasn't anything incredible or mind-blowing, but it was a super quick, compelling read.

Not for me... the comps made me excited to read, but it ended up falling flat in terms of the overarching story and character development. Reminiscent of too many existing things, I think, and it didn't get legs for me until it was almost over.

Such a fun gender-flip of The Lost Boys! I thought this novel was fast-paced and highly readable, and it has the best ass-kicking grandma ever.
