Oh this is one adorably, fun, goosie filled high school love story! They are such great characters. Their friendship was so beautiful. I thoroughly enjoyed reading their coming of age awareness/adventures. It felt real and it felt believable. It’s a well developed story that doesn’t rush the plot but moves it along at the same time. Absolutely loved it!

Final Rating: 4.75 stars.

This books was so fluffy and adorable. A Friends to lovers story with a "Bachelor" like twist. Both main characters were nerdy and very likeable. AND OH MAN THE CLIMAX OF THIS BOOK WAS SOMETHING ELSE, my jaw was on the floor. I read this in one sitting and have zero regrets. 100% gonna be reccomending this one to friends who love a good fluffy YA romance.

A cute swoon YA version of Bachelorette meets Cyrano De Bergerac romance with sweetest friends to lovers trope!

Sloane McKinney is so excited to land in LaLa Land to spend her summer with her best childhood friend Liam Daniels’ family mansion he lives with his TV producer father.

She already formed a list of places to explore with Liam, planning to binge watch her favorite series with him at night times and reconnecting after two years long FaceTiming long distance friendship!

She realizes her friend turned into a very hot man, still sharpening craftsmanship skills at the basement of his house that turned into a small atelier. But one thing she didn’t know Liam is already booked by his father as PA for his latest highly anticipated reality show : “Aspen Wood’s Future Leading Lady” which is popular TV series’ Cove’s spinoff. As you see its acronym AWFLL , it’s a little awful concept similar to the bachelorette ; Aspen Woods who is the leading actor of Cove series is gonna chose his future leading lady: 25 attendants will be compete at beachfront mansion. You may sense there will be cat fight, scandals, lots of dramas, betrayal, jealousy!

Poor Sloane finds herself as one of the 25 girls when the production company is short of one girl and Liam’s father has great negotiation skills, promising her he’ll use connections for Sloane to pursue her future screenwriter career in the industry!

But Liam is not happy with Sloane’s decision to be part of his father’s scheme because he might have unresolved feelings about her and now he finds himself Cyrano Bergerac-ing to Aspen who wants to win Sloane’s heart!

He has to come clean with his feelings before it’s too late and Sloane also feels like something is fishy about Aspen’s motives! She has to find a way to team up with the girls and let them know she has no interest in Aspen.

Overall: I love the fair and well done ending! Such a sweet-swoon YA romance read I highly enjoyed!

Many thanks to NetGalley and Random House Children’s / Delacorte Press for sharing this amazing digital reviewer copy with me in exchange my honest opinions.

Liam and Sloane have been best friends since they were children, but 2 years ago he moved from Tennessee to California due to his father's production business' success. Sloane is set to visit Liam for the Summer and both are shocked by how much the other has changed physically in the last 2 years. When a reality show spin off of their favorite scripted show (that Liam's father is an EP on), is down a contestant to date the show's leading man.

This book had no business being so cute! Loved this romantic comedy, I loved Liam and Sloane as main characters and even them as just friends was gold. For anybody who is a fan of the bachelor or ever watched it, this is a play on the show, but for teens.

- Friends to Lovers
- Young adult = sweet (not steamy) rom com
- Reality Show/ Celebrity aspects

YA isn't my normal category, but I had to request this book when I read that it's a bachelor spinoff. I'm so glad I did! Not Here to Stay Friends brought all the drama I was dreaming of and more.

What I loved:
-friends to lovers, dual POV
-Bachelor/reality tv show similarities but with teenagers. There's drama, laughs, and a whole lot of emotion
-I really enjoyed Kaitlyn's writing style. You could literally feel the yearning between Sloane and Liam while keep the plot light and fun.

I truly didn't think I would enjoy this one as much as I did! This book is a feel good rom com that will absolutely leave you smiling!

I enjoyed this book! It has a good plot and I enjoyed the characters. Liam and Sloane both seemed so sweet. The book kept me engaged in the story and there wasn't unnecessay fluff to make the book longer. Read the book in two sittings over two days.

It is was cute friends to lovers troupe. Sloane and Liam have been friends for years. They are finally reuniting in Los Angeles. Where they realize maybe they are just typically friends. It is a light hearted book with a teen focused Bachelor style show. Thank you for the arc!

This book was so entertaining! I loved the dynamic of showing the behind-the-scenes realities of reality television! I loved the writing of this novel, it was funny and engaging and a perfect book to read and truly enter another world!

What an absolute delight of a book. Apart from the fact that I could read a romance based in reality TV approximately every week for forever, the leads here were very funny, appropriately awkward, and the right amount of grown-up for a late-teens YA romance. Great concept, great setting, loved it.

This is a behind the scenes, and in front of the scenes, fun and romantic book about a reality show. I was really impressed that the author diverged from the standard trope and wrote a story that empowers people while still keeping it light.
The families in the book were barely mentioned but they had a powerful effect on the main characters. In fact, they really drove the stories.
All in all, a great fun read.
Enjoy!

This was an adorable story. I loved that the characters were best friends who fall in love. I also liked how they advocated for each other. I liked that there was personal growth as well.

This book was such a fun, light read. Sloane and Liam are childhood best friends who have drifted away, and when Sloane comes to spend the summer in LA with Liam, sparks start to fly. Meanwhile, Liam's dad is producing a bachelorette-style reality TV spin-off of a Dawson's Creek-like show that both Liam and Sloane loves. When Sloane steps in to compete for the leading man's heart, chaos follows. I loved it, and I'm going to look at all the other things Kaitlyn Hill has written now.

I love a neglected heroine, and Kaitlyn Hill writes in a zippy and funny way that reminds me of all the YA I read back in the day. Def a recommend for my students who read!

This was a really pleasant and charming romcom. I thought the storyline was so cute. This was the first I’ve read of this author, and I’ll definitely look forward to more work from them

I love a good friends to lovers trope so this was exactly what I was looking for in this YA romance. This second novel by Hill was just as fun (if not more) to read than her first book. Sloane and Liam are best friends since they were little and are finally getting the chance to spend the summer together in LA. When they are reunited in person, they realize that maybe this friendship is changing in a way that they didn't expect. Add in a YA bachelorette reality show, a difficult actor and many stolen glance and passing notes, and you have all the makings for a fun YA read. Thank you netgalley for this arc in exchange for my honest opinion.

Kaitlynn has quickly become one of my favorite YA contemporary romance authors (and favorite people cause she rocks), and Not Here To Stay Friends only confirms that.

The yearning, the romantic tension, its so on point that I felt the tug in my stomach when Solane and Liam so much as looked at each other. There is such an earnestness to them with the chaotic, authentic teenage humor and messy, confusing feelings, and it only adds to the pure swoon thats present throughout the entire book.

Also, the plot is just a freaking blast, and I’ve learned I’m a sucker for reality TV based books. And when there’s assholeish men to be brought down, sometimes even multiple, all the better. Throw in some confusing friends to lovers angst and you’ve got me completely hooked. And Kaitlyn does all of this so well, entwining high emotional stakes with jokes that had me cackling out loud. Its brilliant.

(Also, some of the female side characters are so pretty and I am so gay.)

"Not Here to Stay Friends" by Kaitlyn Hill offers a fun and light-hearted Young Adult read. This spin on "The Bachelor" for teens is a familiar read for anyone who watches the show; the excitement, the drama, and the betrayal are real. The "friends to lovers" trope is spot-on in this quick read! Recommend!

This book was a lot of fun! For a moment there, I thought it was going to go a more epistolary modern-day Cyrano de Bergerac route, but I didn't see the actual twist coming. For fans of The Charm Offensive, Never Ever Getting Back Together, or tv shows like The Bachelor or The OC.

Another reality television show themed novel from Hill. Sloane’s bestie from way back, Liam, moved from Tennessee to Hollywood when his parents got divorced, and the two friends have kept in touch over the passing years and finally get to spend some time together again and bond over stuff like their favorite teen dramas when he invites her to visit for the summer. It turns out that Liam is going to be interning on his dad’s latest project: a Bachelor-style show to find the next leading lady for heartthrob Aspen Wood, and the only way to hope to spend some time together is for Sloane to participate in the show by filling in the abandoned slot left by a no show contestant. An aspiring writer, Liam’s dad sweetens the pot by promising connections if Sloane can make it to the final four. Sloane’s parents are disappointingly quick to sign her over to this TV gig without even a check in, much to her chagrin.

The instant attraction at the airport pickup that neither Sloane or Liam has the guts to discuss, much less act on, throws a monkey wrench into the plot when Aspen asks Liam to help him win Sloane over–her low opinion of his shallowness is no secret. He agrees, and when Sloane finds out, she’s pretty upset. Will they work things out?

Lots of drama ensues, but it’s pretty watered down for tween readers. Like in Love from Scratch, the romantic parts are mostly longing, a sweet kiss or two, and overall pretty tame. The title is a very clever play on words–does it refer to Liam and Sloane’s relationship, or her spot on AWFLL (Aspen Woods Future Leading Lady)? Liam’s woodworking hobby that he wants to turn into a career is a nice side story that allows him to confront his dad, find a mentor, and make a beautiful grand gesture to Sloane.
