Many thanks to NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for the ARC of the book in exchange for an honest review.

I love everything Sarah Andersen draws, and after "Sarah's Scribbles", Andersen once again offers us an amazingly fun, new comics book. "Cryptid Club" is full of monsters and cryptids, such as Mothman, ghosts, Bigfoot, extra-terrestrials, Fresno Nightcrawlers, Kraken, Flatwoods Monster, Loch Ness Monster (Nessie), sirens, and many others, all of which are creatures that are supposed to be horrifying, but instead are adorable, funny, full of emotions, and cute under Andersen's pen. I learned about various cryptids that I didn't know about before thanks to this book and really enjoyed its colorful illustrations. Be ready for some heartwarming, good old fun!

To sum up this entire book: it is the cutest thing you will ever read, highly recommend, I loved every second. Made my night and it made me smile. Sarah Anderson knows exactly what to do to make something stupidly relatable and stupidly cute.

This comics collection is delightfully weird and silly. I love how it showcases all those scary monsters and turns them into socially awkward beings. Their interactions with each other as they try to get better at socializing (with humans or not) are both cute and funny, and I laughed a lot at the way Sara Andersen subverts creepy legends into awkward misunderstandings.
I loved everyone of these quirky monsters, but the strips with the aliens were consistently my favorite ones by far. If you have a thing for legend rewritings and you’re looking for a cute, quick and easy read that is funnily relatable, Cryptid Club is definitely for you.

Such a unique and fun read for all ages. It was very much along the art vein of Strange Planet with episodic page panels and fun art.

Occasionally funny but not in the normal bibliography of Sarah Andersen. I could not connect much with the characters or lack of plot of this one.

Sarah Anderson never fails to please with her signature style of humour and art. From laugh-out-loud to just adorable and heartwarming, each of these comics is honey to my soul. A perfect dose for the more creepy-loving fan of her Sarah Scribbles comics.

This book is adorable! The cryptids are laugh out loud funny, strangely relatable and just charming. Sarah Andersen is a marvel as always.

just a cute little book with a bunch of 1-4 panel comics starting hilariously cute Cryptids.

truly laughed out loud at many of these. I've seen a few of them floating around the internet already but i can easily see a lot of these becoming memes in the future. They're incredibly relatable at times.

I’m a huge fan of everything Sarah Andersen and I really enjoy weird humour, so I suppose it does not as a surprise that this collection was just what I was looking for. I think I can say, with the proper use of the word, that I literary laughed at almost everything that was on screen. I will admit, however, that some laughs were louder than others, and I am looking directly at you, Call of Cthulhu, my absolute favourite of the whole collection.
Are they silly strips related to cryptids, is the humour ‘easy’ in some occasions (those blurry photographs, I’m still laughing), am I know looking for ways of adopting Cthulhu, Mothman and Sam? Yes, yes, and oh, you can bet it: YES.
I honestly think we have reached the point (after Sarah’s Scribbles, Fangs and now this), that Ms Andersen can very easily make a comic book, put a potato as the main character, and it will still be funny somehow.

And I will be here, ready to read and recommend, for when it happens.

These comics are unsurprisingly excellent. If you you have a friend who loves cryptids and goofy humor, this would be a lovely gift to make them smile. It kept me company when I couldn't sleep during a thunderstorm and it was the perfect mood-lifter.

as a big cryptids geek, the title just drew me in. the cover being as cute as it is is just a bonus! i thought the one with the aliens and the cows was particularly darling. and the one with the mothman lurking by the window of the girl cutting her bangs... GLORIOUS. all in all, this was fun story that is sure to charm readers of all ages. i thought the illustrations were charming and cute, without being sickeningly sweet. sarah andersen's work is endearingly silly, with a touch of warmth.

This was funny and relatable in parts! My favorite strip probably had to be when one of the cryptids complimented another one of the cryptids on their dress and they were like IT HAS POCKETS 😂

Cryptids and humor, everything I needed today. Thank yeeeeew.

(I could write a longer review, but honestly, if you don't know Sarah Andersen and her art by now, where have you been?)

I am a big fan of Sarah Andersen's comics, especially Fangs. This time she has chosen Cryptids as her next stars and it works exceptionally well.

All of the comics are drawn with love; they are funny, cute, and sweet. (Not to spoil anything, but the date of the Siren was hilarious.)

There's a glossary in the back of the book, which explains the origins of the Cryptids. While you can absolutely understand each comic without it, I'd maybe even recommend looking at it first to get a feel for the characters you'll meet along the way.

I think this is perfect for any fans of her comics, Halloween, or as a gift for anybody who enjoys such comics. I had a great time reading it.

**Disclaimer: I recieved a free early access copy of Cryptid Club by Sarah Anderson through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.  Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this opportunity.

Cryptid Club by Sarah Anderson is a collection of comics about various cryptids interacting in humorous situations.  It is set to be published on September 20th, 2022.  I rated it 4 stars on Goodreads.

Here's the summary from Goodreads:

The latest from New York Times bestselling, Goodread's Choice Award-winning, Eisner Award-nominated and Ringo Award-winning author Sarah Andersen is a delightful peek into the secret social lives of some of the world's most fascinating, monstrous, and mysterious creatures.
Do you hate social gatherings? Dodge cameras? Enjoy staying up just a little too late at night? You might have more in common with your local cryptid than you think! Enter the world of Cryptid Club, a look inside the adventures of elusive creatures ranging from Mothman to the Loch Ness Monster. This humorous new series celebrates the unique qualities that make cryptids so desperately sought after by mankind (to no avail). After all, it's what makes us different that also makes us beautiful.

This was a super cute collection of comics.  It reminded me of Strange Planet in that the panels didn't necessarily relate to eachother, but they did have similar characters going through the whole course of the book.

I really enjoyed the art style. Each cryptid had a good design, and it was clear who they were.  The panel design was also really good.  She clearly put a lot of effort into her design thought.

There was a lot of good humour in the collection.  She made some really good jokes between the different cryptids and i found myself laughing aloud quite a bit.  They are decently relatable as characters despite being fictional beasts.  I also really liked how at the end she had a small compendium of all the cryptids featured in the book because it helped me to learn about the different cryptids that I wasn't familiar with.

If you like Strange Planet, then I definitely suggest you read this collection when it comes out in September.

Anderson is always a delight - and these comics are no exception. For Mothman fans everywhere, and a wonderful gift for fans of the spooky who know that the truth is out there.

I loved this funny, charming, and clever book so much. Who knew that monsters also dealt with real life problems like fitting into high-wasted jeans and not being photogenic. I laughed at almost every single page.

THANK YOU to Webtoon & Netgalley for sending me this ARC. All reviews are honest reflections of my own opinions, always.

Mysterious denizens of haunted woods, lochs & mansions, or simply misunderstood monsters with a relatable touch of social awkwardness & camera anxiety???

Welcome to the Cryptid Club, where Anderson draws out in her signature style some pretty funny & often understandable situations our common cryptids find themselves in. From the woes of being so unphotogenic (I mean, all those blurry Big Foot pics, am I right?), to the struggles of simply fitting in with the crowd, Anderson pulls out a few laugh out loud parallels between cryptozoology & humankind. Perhaps we aren't so different after all...

While I am usually a huge fan of Sarah Anderson's comics, in which we introverted animal loving book nerds find both relatability & the value of being seen, this one didn't quite hit that level of fun for me. The comics are unmistakably Anderson style, quirky & giggle worthy, but none that I found myself truly in stiches over or wanting to pass on to others in a 'hey, check this out, so relatable' kind of way that her other books seem to do. 3.5 stars & a thankful heart that got to read what one of my favorite cartoonists has been up to lately.

Title: Cryptid Club
Written by: Sarah Andersen
Pub Date: 20 Sep 2022
Publisher: Andrews McMeel Publishing
Genre: Comics, Graphic Novels, Manga

If you have ever wanted to know how monsters and aliens would react in a situations that happen daily (and not so daily) to us humans, this is the answer.

Panel after panel of painfully funny incidents. The humor and art work are beautifully matched.

Though this is clearly a different topic from Andersen's Sarah Scribbles work, the humor we love is very much present.

I was grateful that Andersen added a glossary of monsters. Whether it was due to my age or location, there were a few monsters I didn't know so the glossary helped. In fact the word Cryptid was new too, which just goes to show who educational this comic is.

News up date : No longer scared of the monster under the bed :D, sleep paralyzes demon is another story :D
4/5

I don't have it in me to give a Sarah Andersen less than 3 stars, but I didn't really think this was that funny :\ The art was adorable but what I loved about Andersen's previous comics is how relatable they are. These are all about cryptids, so not so relatable, and for me, not so funny :(
