Stephanie has enjoyed a good life. She is married to a college professor and has two adorable children. She lives in a lovely house surrounded by beautiful things. But it hasn’t always been like this. However, it wasn't always this way.

Nine years ago, Alison, Stephanie's flatmate, vanished, presumed murdered. It was a horrible time, and Stephanie tries hard not to think about it.In spite of her best efforts, Stephanie cannot forget those horrible days.

However, when a TV researcher wants to interview her about the case, Stephanie is forced to confront the past and recognize that she has a deep wish to know what happened to Alison.

She soon realizes someone is trying to hide a shocking web of lies from her and doesn't want her digging for the truth.

I give What She Knew five out of five stars!

Happy Reading!

Interesting characters. A pleasant read. No unnecessary words. This story was a decent enough thriller. Told in dual timelines, this is the story of Stephanie, whose school flatmate Alison went missing nine years earlier.

The story moves at a fast clip and the author drops both real clues and red herrings throughout. When all was said and done, the ending definitely threw me for a loop, but the breadcrumbs had been laid. I didn’t really connect with Steph- she seemed naive, insecure, and a bit catty and I found myself irritated with her at times.

The past haunts the present in this intense thriller that is shrouded with guilt, betrayal and deception. A guilty conscience is an unwanted companion of Stephanie, living with the mystery of her missing friend, Alison. What happened to Stephanie nine years ago? Was it an unfortunate accident, or was something more malicious at play? So many suspects, so little time. Who can you trust when everyone is under suspicion, even your own reflection? Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for my audiobook.

This one had me on the edge of my seat. It was a slow go at first but once the story picked up it was a story I couldn't put down. Mid-way through the book I was dying to know what happened to Alison and how it was all connected to what was going on with Stephanie. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and the ending had my jaw on the floor

I had this figured out right from the beginning, well, at least I thought I did. Stephanie and Alison are college flatmates, and, as different as they are, they become friends. College is exactly what they thought it would be, until it isn’t and Alison disappears. Time goes by and Stephanie marries and has children with the love of her life, Oliver. When a reporter comes around asking questions about Alison, the nightmares start again and Stephanie feels like she needs to know what happened to Alison if she is going to get through this. The truth comes with a cost. I really liked the narrator and found this audiobook difficult to put down once I got invested in the story. I will be reading more by Miranda Rijks.

What She Knew was a creepy and twisted thriller. The audiobook was fantastic - loved the narrator! The story itself had me hooked from page one and kept my interest through to the end. Lots of little twists, some predictable, but very entertaining. Loved the ending!

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with the opportunity to read and review this book.

Enjoyment: 4
Total rating: 4.21

Another great thriller from Rijks. While I didn't quite enjoy the roommate's storyline, the "present," where Stephanie is looking into the past and starting to reevaluate her life, is everything I wanted from this book - tense, infuriating characters and a great redemption arc. The audiobook was phenomenal; Ella Lynch kept me interested throughout and helped me get through the parts of the story I couldn't get into.

What She Knew was another great read by Miranda Rijks. Stephanie's best friend, Alison, vanished nine years ago. Even though her life has been good, her best friend's now back to haunt her. She's married to a college professor, has two children, lives in a lovely house, and is surrounded by beautiful things. Stephanie tries to not think about when Alison vanished and was resumed murdered. A TV researcher who works on a true crime series, wants to interview her about Alison's case. She is forced to admit that she wants to know what happened to Alison. Someone makes it evident that they don't want her digging for the truth and will do anything to conceal the lies. I enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to read more by the author.

** spoiler alert ** This book was my 1st by this author and I liked it a lot! I was sucked in right from the beginning and the book went by quickly. I just KNEW it was going to be the husband & his brother. But his SIL was truly the deranged one! Oliver was a predator and knew exactly how to rope her into his life. I love a happy ending so the ending made me smile! I will definitely be reading more of her books!

I kept changing my star count rating for this book as I was trying to arrange my thoughts on what to write. I’ll admit that I’m quite generous with five star reviews and it’s what I was going to give this one. Then I thought about how utterly predictable it was and dropped it to 4. Then I finally settled on giving it 3 stars. While I did finish it and am happy enough with the ending, it is really hard to believe. WHAT SHE KNEW by Miranda Rijks, narrated by Ella Lynch.

Stephanie is spending her life as a housewife with two beautiful children and is married to her former college professor. She is mostly happy but she’s starting to realize how controlling and overbearing her husband is. She studies in secret to become a solicitor because she knows her husband doesn’t want her to be anything more than wife and mother. She’s also hiding a few more new things from him. Like a TV researcher that’s contacted her about her college flatmate that went missing while they were in university nearly a decade ago. In helping him find answers about that girl she’s uncovering a lot of other secrets someone is ready to kill over to keep them buried. And it’s becoming obvious her husband knows a lot more than he’s telling.

The character Stephanie is a little too naive and gullible to seem real. Some of her decisions are beyond frustrating but I did like that she didn’t always meekly do whatever her husband demanded even if she did do them in secret. The ending was just a bit too perfect and sweet. 3 stars for an enjoyable read and a pleasant narrator.

Thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the gift of this audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

This was a great book full of suspense. It’s well written and such a fun thriller to get absorbed in. It’s a bit hard to put down though once you start so be warned
Stephanie has a pretty good life. She’s married to a college professor named Oliver, has two children, and lives in a beautiful house where she has beautiful things all around her.
Right when everything seems nearly perfect, a TV researcher who is working on a true crime series wants to interview her about what happened. Stephanie is then forced to take a good look at the past and realize she needs the answer to the questions “What happened to Alison?”.
Very quickly it becomes apparent that someone out there doesn’t want her to go digging around and is willing to do anything to make sure she doesn’t. Her perfect little life begins to unravel and Stephanie realizes that by looking into the past she has awoken a sleeping monster. Now, her own life seems to be on the line.
I can’t really tell you more. It’s a definite thriller so if I tell you too much I’ll ruin every twist and turn. I think some things are quite apparent from the near beginning but other things just sort of slap you in the face when they happen!
This is definitely worth the read!

Readers who pick up What She Knew should be ready for some fun! A Psychological and suspenseful read taking place on a university campus. With so many young students finding themselves in interesting and sometimes unethical ways it’s hard to tell who’s telling the truth and who’s trying to keep something under wraps. While even the most unexperienced crime readers will unravel some of the twists Rijks adds some fun unexpected turns to keep readers on their toes.

I’d recommend this one to anyone interested in dipping their toes into the crime genera or for experienced crime readers looking for something lighter but still intriguing.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Four fun stars for this well written suspense.

Another formula story. Someone goes missing and the wrong person is targeted and blamed. What’s interesting though and I read all the way through good book, great author. A bit predictable. Thank you Nageli for providing an advanced copy to me I enjoyed it

“What She Knew” should be titled “What She DIDN’T Know”! Stephanie is married to her college professor Oliver, but is haunted by the disappearance of her roommate Alison when they were in college. This was an engaging thriller that kept me listening. It was told through flashbacks and with the current story.
I like Miranda Rijks’s stories, they always keep me guessing until the end. The narrator has a pleasant voice and I enjoyed listening to her. I want to thank the author, Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for a complimentary copy of the book. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.
