I absolutely love, love, love this series!
I want to be a bookseller for a week, too, but only if it’s in this town with the great little community surrounding me!

I DNF'd this one at 13%

I couldn't get into this one, the writing style didn't work for me and I felt like I missed something by not having read book 1.

Another great read in this wonderful series. Although this had a Christmas theme it wasn’t overdone which is fine by me when I’m reading it in September and it’s warm. I loved all the characters in this book even the new ones and I look forward to reading the third in this series. One of my first Christmassy reads this year.
I loved the concept of this book- people can book a holiday and get the chance to run the bookshop and cafe. Can you just imagine being let loose in a bookshop full of books in a seaside village!!!!!!!! Sign me up.
The current holidaymaker has a failed bookshop venture in Iceland and has been gifted this holiday. He's not sure it is a great idea. But he is a very strong male character. I loved him meeting a girl. escaping from her own problems and finding that lightning bolt of attraction.

I loved the community feel surrounding the book, full of busy body characters whose hearts are in the right place. When a weather warning turns into reality the whole village draws together at the manor house and Magnus introduces them all to a wonderful Icelandic tradition that we have adopted in our own family.
It really draws you in, willing the bookshop to be busy and the magical Christmas mistletoe hitting the targets. I enjoyed the whole time at the bookshop,

Communion and blessings for donkeys, the quirky town, the quirky people, a devastating storm, a budding romance, a second chance, betrayal , loss, resillience. Oh boy i was here for it all. I devoured this book. I wanted to be part of the communitytheir daily lives. I was there through good days and bad days. I highly recommend this book.

Festive Vibes Aplenty…
Christmas is almost upon them in Clove Lore and everything is perfect. Or, is it? A festive and heartwarming tale in this next in series with a nicely crafted cast and a wonderfully pictured backdrop. Festive vibes aplenty. One to read next a roaring fire with a comfy armchair and a warming tipple.

This was the perfect cosy book and to get in the Christmas spirit. It's getting me all excited for the winter season.

What a cozy read! I really enjoyed this novel. I just sunk right into it like a favourite arm chair. I could practically see the book shop and little town and all the characters. I absolutely loved this book. I enjoyed all the different characters and I got swept away. It's the perfect Christmas read. You know what else? I LOVED the two main characters liking each other right away. I Will be reading more by this author.

Pick up a copy today if you want to forget your troubles and get swept away in a story.

This was such a cosy Christmas story! I am very quickly becoming a big fan of Kiley Dunbar books and she is now a must read author for me.

Christmas at the borrow a bookshop is book 2 in the series but can be read on its own without ruining the fun!

Absolutely perfect for the upcoming festive season, highly recommend!

My cheeks hurt from smiling through this delightful book. This one kept me hooked and entertained until the last page… The characters each have these little pieces that make them such believable characters! This fabulous book is a great festive read!

A unique concept, this series about a bookshop tourists can book and play at being a bookseller unfortunately still fell a bit flat for me. The writing was generally good, but I felt the story had some pacing issues and tried to do far too much. There were too many threads to follow, too much going on, and not enough focus and depth to the main characters or plot line. For most of the book I was either a bit bored, or a bit flummoxed. The whole thing felt a bit like the opening credits of a typical movie, where the camera pans over representative spots in whatever city the story is set in: pretty, but superficial and fleeting. As much as I wanted to love it, this one just didn’t do it for me.

My Thoughts:
3.5 ⭐️ An adorable story about a village that seems to bring people together. Be it lovers or it’s town people. No matter what disaster come it’s way.

The characters were lovable especially Minty and Jowan. The world building of the village makes me warm & fuzzy all over especially if it’s by the beach, friendly neighbors, and you live and work at the bookshop.

It’s fast paced and very tamed. If you just want a cozy read, this is it for you.

Delightful, cosy romance.

I fell in love with Clove Lore!
This holiday story of two broken souls finding each other was magical. It made me want a fire place, cookies and a big stack of romantic books.

This is the second book set in the Borrow a Bookshop but this can be read as a standalone novel. This book features a new couple of main characters- Magnus and Alex.
It was lovely to be back at Clove Lore and the Bookshop. I would love to be able to visit it if it was real.
Magnus and Alex were great characters. I really like the sound of jólabókaflóð and think that it should be celebrated everywhere. Christmas Eve and exchanging books- perfect!
This is a heartwarming read, I really enjoyed it. I hope that there are more Borrow a Bookshop books, as it is an excellent setting for a book.

Another delightful Christmassy book by Kiley. Seems strange reading this in the middle of summer, but it has been a refreshing and enjoyable read.

Christmas at the Borrow a Bookshop by Kiley Dunbar is a heartwarming seasonal tale, perfect to curl up with in front of a crackling fire while the Christmas lights twinkle in the background. This is apparently the second book in a series, which I did not know when I picked it up, but it also reads perfectly as a stand alone so don't let that put you off reading it.
Set in a Bookshop that doubles as a holiday let where guests not only stay on the property but also run the shop for the duration of their stay, this book tells the story of Icelandic ex bookseller Magnus who was gifted his trip by his brother as a tongue in cheek Christmas present booked before Magnus had to unfortunately close his own shop. Spending Christmas away from his family in a venue that highlights his failure is not doing much to improve his mood . The dramatic arrival of Alexandra Robinson might just be enough to change his perspective. Alexandra has run away from her own troubles, most notably the discovery that her boyfriend has been cheating with her best friend, but her arrival in the tiny town of Clove Lore was definitely unplanned, and she literally washes up on the shore and into Magnus's arms.
As I said this was a sweet and charming book, with plenty of romance and more drama than I was expecting. The romance was cute without being saccharine and it was easy to root for the couple's success. The setting was really brought to life by the array of village characters , they were clearly crafted with love and attention to detail.

Christmas at the Borrow a Bookshop is based in Clove Lore. Clove Lore is more than your typical small town, it is filled with love, tradition, hope, and just about everything you want where you live. I really enjoy reading books that transport me to new places and quaint towns/villages!

I absolutely adored all the characters of Clove Lore and enjoyed learning about all their quirks. The characters were well developed with depth, charisma, connection, and chemistry.

We follow the stories of Magnus and Alex. Magnus is from Iceland and has been gifted a holiday from his brother. He arrives nursing a broken heart and a failed business venture left behind in Reykjavik. Alex is escaping grief, betrayal and a broken heart when she takes her boat to set sail around the English coast. A December storm brings Magnus and Alex crashing into each other’s lives and maybe, just maybe, the chance to heal! I really enjoyed their story and you can’t help but root for them to find happiness, especially given what they have both been through!

I believe this is more than a romance, it is about community and tradition, which I adored. The characters were well developed with depth, charisma, connection, and chemistry. The author’s style of writing was complex, emotional, festive, and kept me engaged from cover to cover. This was a lovely story and I would recommend to anyone who loves Christmas or romance books! This was the second book in this series, but you definitely can read it as a stand-alone.

Christmas at the Borrow a Bookshop is such a cozy, romantic read that also really lets the community of characters shine. A fabulous Christmas read, full of romance, friendships, community and family. A Joyful Christmas escapism and I highly recommend!

Lovely feel good book to read. It was a joy to read. Lovely characters. Great plot. The book was charming. Very well written. I’d definitely recommend this book. Idyllic location that set the tone of the book to perfection. Perfect seasonal book to get you in the mood for the festive season.
