Hunted is the first book in the Marine Raiders Alpha series by Allyson Charles. This was a new-to-me author, and I was pleasantly surprised by it. It was well written and had entertaining and interesting characters. The twists and turns kept me on edge the entire book. The connection between Jake and Caroline was instant. Caroline fought the attraction but finally overcame her reluctance to date a military man. I loved watching Jake win her over slowly but surely. This was a great book, and I am so glad I discovered this author. I recommend it and look forward to reading more books by the author.
I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Really enjoyed this military romance. Jake and Caroline are very likeable characters and I enjoyed how their relationship blossomed. The Marine Raiders offered a lot of humour I really enjoyed and the friendship between Caroline and her friend was a lovely addition. Can’t wait to read more about the Marine Raiders.

This is a good book. The two main characters are Jake and Caroline. Jake is out on the ocean when he sees Caroline adrift. He comes to her rescue. Caroline has been spotted by the drug cartel and want to get her but Jake won’t let them. They each have issues but together they work them out together and fall in love.

This one wasn’t half-bad. A quick, fun read, full of suspence – even if a bit predictable.

Caroline is a rule-follower, all uptight and cautious – unti lshe decides to do something crazy and let loose for once. It doesn’t end well – as most things of this nature don’t – and she becomes a witness in a cartel murder. Now, she’s being hunted by a drug lord’s son. Enter Jake Skinner – the man who is more than willing to protect her and make her life a lot easier. But it’s hard to become dependent on someone when you’ve lived on your own for so long. Will they find a middle ground to survive and defeat Caroline’s pursuer?

I had so much fun with this one! Though it was full of cliches, and it was easy to predict what was going to happen next, it was fast paced and the steamy scenes delivered perfection. The rest of the cast was something memorable, too, and I can’t wait to read their stories (can we please get Sam with Chris next? their tension was off the charts, the ship was practically sailing all by itself!).

The only downside was Jake’s pushiness at some points. It was understandable, given the danger of the situation, but there were certain cases in which he was being a bit too demanding and hard-headed.

Still, it didn’t take too much from the book’s enjoyment, and it was a considerably small detail. All in all, a 4/5 for me on this one, and a definite recommendation, because we all like a mature man who knows what he wants and where he stands on the matter of romance!

This is a steamy military romance that leaves you swooning. The romance was fast, but the characters were well developed. The suspense involved with protecting Caroline from the cartel was pretty intense.

This book had many of the elements I look for in a romantic suspense. Military teams are my favorite version of romantic suspense, as I like meeting all the members of the team and getting their stories as well. However, I'm sensitive to the "boys will be boys" joking that sometimes goes on in the dialogue between the team and having a joke about Jake's friends being "special needs" really put me off the whole rest of the book. I did appreciate the one character saying that ALL women were deserving of their respect bc often times in military romantic suspense, the author allows the characters to be very disparaging towards the women who want to sleep with them for a night. Also, in chapter 20, Caroline is referred to as "Carolyn".

Suspense until end.
Caroline never thought picking up a guy from a bar could land her in fight of her life. After witnessing a drug cartel killing her date in front of her, she ran into the ocean away from shooters. Now she is barely hanging on the buoy. and hoping to be rescued.
Jake Skinner was known as Psychic among Marine Raider members and he could sense trouble looming near him. He felt uneasy while resting with his buddies and when he went out to the ocean for training, he found someone on a buoy. His buddies worked quick to rescue Caroline and something drew him to her.
Caroline was thankful to be rescued but she doesn't date military man. Jake wanted to be more but she wasn't ready so for right now, he would settle for keeping her safe.
Jake will keep Caroline safe and won't rest until drug cartel is caught or killed. Maybe Jake can change her mind on military man.
If you are into alpha men and suspense, this is a perfect series to start. I can't wait to get into other members. It is fast paced and keeps suspense til the end.
Thanks to Netgalley and author for ARC.

I really enjoyed this book

I thought that it had a really good storyline and it was clearly well planned out by the author

The special forces join the party and things begin to heat up

It was a romantic and sexy read with a good dose of action added for good measure!

It is 5 stars from me for this one, very highly recommended and a great story!

Marine Raiders were a new military group for me - but then I gather they are supposed to keep a lower profile than SEALs. they are clearly just as gung-ho and alpha as SEALs with similar characteristics - just they don't swim under water and are prepared to train and advise foreign organisations etc.
This was a fairly straightforward rendition of the trope - our heroine accidentally finds herself in a bad situation and is hunted by a drug cartel. Rescued by the Raiders she has quite an eventful few days.
Overall a pleasant book, nicely written and with good style.

A fantastic read!! This one pulled me in from the first chapter and held my attention the whole way through. A thrilling live story about a girl hunted and a Marine in special forces who she swore she’d never fall for! This gripping tale has plenty of spice and thrill for all but also has a good deal of sweetness too!! A must read! I cannot wait for more!

First time author read for me. Caroline and Jake meet under dire circumstances. Immediately there’s a connection. Lots of action and drama. Jake is very protective and has to work hard to earn Caroline’s heart. Steamy. HEA.

Hunted by Allyson Charles is an intense, action-packed read. From the opening scene to the hero finding the heroine and then protecting her from those who want her dead, it is a compelling story. I liked the characters, although at times, the hero was a bit heavy handed. He had a strong protective streak and tended to overwhelm the heroine. Still, his interest in her and his heart for her was evident and sweet. I enjoyed this book. It does have a higher heat level than I prefer, but the characters and action make it worth the read.

I received a copy of Hunted from the publisher and NetGalley. All opinions are my own. #Hunted #NetGalley

Not having read anything by this author, I decided to try this as the summary was so interesting. I enjoyed everything about the story and characters and plan to search for more of her books, especially the next ones in this series. During a training exercise, Marine Raider Jake Skinner notices something on a buoy in the water and realizes that it is a woman. Finding her still alive, he and his team rush her to safety. He learns that she is Caroline Carter and that she fell off of a yacht after witnessing the murder of a man. There is something about her that calls to Jake and he needs to keep her safe. Caroline swore she would never get involved with a man in the military; they are often gone for long periods of time as well as the danger they face. Enlisting the men on his squad to not only protect her but to locate and eliminate the threat is his goal. Will Caroline come to realize that loving a man in the military is worth the worry? I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)

This book was everything I love.
It had a protective male protagonist, lots of tension, and a threath throught the whole book.
Jake was a great protagonist, sometimes a little very protective, but I adored him. It was a bit of instalove but at the same time Caroline doesn’t want to date miltary men. And for a good reason. I would have like her to be a little bit more strong on that field, but well Jake was very persuasive. It had great spicy scenes too.
It also has a great friend group which I love.
Great book.

Caroline went out of her comfort zone and went with Brent on a date on a yacht. Being bored and cold she went looking for him, finding him along with seeing things she should not have she left only to see Brent killed before she runs. Getting top side once again she decides to fall off the boat instead of being shot.
Jake and his team are training PT early in the morning, after all, that they have done it is now time for their 3-mile swim. Swimming out to the buoy and back was the plan, Jake finding a woman barely alive was the unexpected part. After rescuing her he mets her in the hospital. Wanting to help her Caroline does not want his help and does not want him around. She does not want to be with a military man. Find out how she falls for one and how this all plays out. A good story with good characters.

A fast paced military romance story with twists and turns, The last thing Caroline wants is a military man, but Jake keeps coming till she final accepts him, and rescues her from the drug cartel boss.

I received an ARC copy from Netgalley for an honest review. A new author for me. I was afraid while reading the first chapters. All the relationship seemed to go so fast and Jake had this caveman behaviour. The pace slowed a little and then the chemistry between them was cute. As far as romantic suspense and military goes, this is an OK romance. Now I want to know more about Jake’s boys’ stories.

Marine Jake rescues a woman at sea Caroline after she escaped an attempt on her life after being in the wrong place at the wrong time. However, bad people are still after her and Jake takes charge in protecting her. He quickly falls for her but she wants nothing to do with military men.

A story filled with action, insta-romance and beefy military guys.

I was really enjoying this book until one of the characters referred to another character being a bother as “special needs”. I think there is a level of decorum and decency lacking in the writing and publication of such words. Did not finish. ⭐️.

I received an ARC of this title from netgalley.
