I really liked the idea of this book and had no issues with the sex scenes. But I found the background characters weren't fleshed out enough and the resolution/ twists we're not so much twists as nonsensical. It all felt a bit forced.

It definitely isn’t the best book I’ve ever read and it is quite ordinary but a good read nonetheless.
Great writing, good plot

I know this was a dark book and a dark retelling of Peter Pan. That puts the villain Hook in the spotlight. And I loved it. It is a dark book not for the faint of heart.. While its not a villain redemption story as Hook stays the same. To this reader it is a happy ending for Hook. But then even as a child I thought Peter was the true villain of the story. And Hook was just misunderstood.

I think this series is not for me. I could not get past the writing style. I would still recommend this series to people who enjoy this style of romance, however it was not for me.

"Hooked" by Emily McIntire, where Neverland gets a dark and smexy makeover! This wickedly enticing story serves up scorching chemistry hot between the main characters that'll leave you fanning yourself like a bonfire. Captain Hook's got nothing on this captivating anti-hero and the heroine will steal your heart faster than a mermaid snatches sailors!

This dark erotic romance is haunting. If you love mobster romance with dominant men with a lust for violence and revenge, you will enjoy this read. Emily McIntire pulls you into the story and keeps you turning the page. I found the plot fairly predictable but not less enjoyable.

I really wanted to like this book alright? But sadly, that did not happen. And whose fault is that? Obviously the characters. I need them to get some personality other than plainly being rebelling and think it makes you look powerful.

The smut was good. I read it for smut. Otherwise I wouldn't have gotten past first 10% of it.

If it weren't for the DUMB, INFURIATING characters, I would have liked it. And I am not bending my morals for stupid characters. So yes, the mmc was lowkey problematic. Maybe my judgment is clouded because I am annoyed with the characters. But anyways, rest of the book was ok. I am

Book 3 was better than book 1 and 2.

Oh I absolutely LOVED this book. I may be a bit obsessed with Peter Pan and Disney in general so odd retelling that become spicier, oof I love.

This was a great reimagining, I am a fan of the reimaginings where the Villain gets the girl. I also think if you're someone who wants a gateway to dark romance this is your book, it's not too dark but enough to dip your toes into the water. I loved James/Hook the entire book, he was a great hero that you get to know so quickly and you root for pretty quickly from the start. Wendy is a bit naive and never really "grows up", ironically, and I wish she had a more growth in her character ARC. Overall a great book and worth the read!

I am loving the trend of *spicy* interpretations of fairy tales. This isn't my absolute favorite, but it scratches a necessary itch

I kept hearing about this book so I was curious to read it.

Unfortunately this book just wasn’t for me. I found the story to be meh and the ending was kinda messy in my opinion.

I do not recommend this book.

This isn't something I would recommend to everyone. I think if you know what you're getting into before starting this book and take it for what it is, it's a more entertaining read.
It's very unrealistic and at times quite corny, but sometimes that's what people look for when they want an easy read that can be read in one sitting and escape from everyday reality for a while.
I don't think this was necessarily as dark as some reviews make it out to be, but just be aware there is some scenes of torture and bodily harm.

This book is a Peter Pan retelling. This book just was not it for me. I found it to be kind of slow.

My first book by this author and I wasn’t prepare for the ride it was going to take me on! This is a very dark romance where the villain is truly dark not just morally gray. This story finds the heroine faced with questionable decisions and what she is willing to accept. I would say all the characters in this story need intensive therapy. I feel like i need therapy after finishing this. While this type of BDSM romance is not my cup of team I can appreciate the originality to the Peter Pan Captain Hook rivalry. I will say this story kept me curious on what was going to happen next. I do feel like the ending was rushed and did not like how everything was revealed in the last 50 pages. I assumed this was going to be a continued story into book 2 and think it would have been good to see more of a development with the other characters story lines.

I really enjoyed this novel! James “Hook” wants revenge on the man who ruined his life — Peter Michael. When he meets Peter’s daughter Wendy, he sees an opportunity… but he doesn’t expect to fall in love with her,

I absolutely loved how the character and phrases of Peter Pan are woven into the book. It was cleaver and made me pause (and smile!).

This is definitely a 4+ star book for me and I am looking forward to the rest in the series.

Thanks to NetGalley for an e-ARC. Hooked by Emily McIntire is an interesting read. If you like dark romance than here is one for you. I don't normally do these types of books but I love an reimaged book based on fairytales. I will just say this book is too dark for my taste, but Emily did do a good job in writing it. I'm giving this book a 2 out of 5 stars. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Hooked is a contemporary fiction novel which is inspired-by Peter Pan. It isn’t a re-telling and only very loosely follows the plot of Peter Pan, while using character names and some plot elements. The romance is dark, spicy and erotic, not for the faint hearted. I alternated between the book and audiobook and some scenes made me glad I was alone in the car! Overall, this was a fun, easy to read novel, full of escapism, and perfect to spend an afternoon. This is the first book in a series but each are standalone and focus on a different story (e.g. The Little Mermaid, The Lion King).

Thank you to the author, Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC.

I have really mixed feelings on this book. Some parts of this book were really good and some parts were really bad. The beginning of the book really grabbed my attention and I was really into it but then when James and Wendy actually started having their first interactions alone it went downhill for me. I felt the dialogue was really weird and forced and the scenes were very thought out. The details and follow through were lacking, it was really jumpy and rushed. Then further along it was good again. I don’t know, I didn’t hate it, but I think there should definitely room for improvement here. I liked the idea behind it though.

I wasn't sure what to expect with this book when I received it. Not necessarily a retelling but definitely using the bones of the classic Peter Pan tale, I wasn't sure I'd enjoy a Hook x Wendy story.

However, I had a lot of fun with Hooked. It started off very strong. It was dark and interesting. The romance was something twisted and I couldn't wait to see how it turned out, especially when all the secrets get spilled. I loved Hook as a character.

Towards the end of the story, it did become predictable and cheesy. I saw the twist coming really early on and that ruined some of the fun. I still enjoyed it and gave it 3 stars. I'm unsure if I'll continue with the series in the future.
