There's something about the way the author writes that makes the words flow easily, and the pages turn themselves!

This was a beautiful story. It touches upon themes of love, war, loss, survival, trauma, identity, and migration/displacement. I found the writing to be lyrical and enchanting, and the characters to be strongly developed. Reading about Raissa’s journey felt incredibly intimate and personal. This is a book that I will definitely be thinking about for a while.
