Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book. I have chosen to write this honest review voluntarily and it reflects my personal opinion.
From the first few pages this novel had me hooked: the child Karolis was 'different' from the start, solitary to the point of not even fitting in at home and once he retired to the isolated French village he became almost hermit apart from a few close friends. The descriptions of the village were poetic, from the smell of the woodsmoke to the panoramic views from the wall. The details of rich food and drink almost had me licking my lips although I'm not sure I fancied the Farmer's blood wine! The characters were completely engaging - I don't want to give away anything but my emotions were on a rollercoaster with them as they went through events until the final, amazing conclusion.
This book is different to anything I've read before, it would be difficult to categorise it but it as so good that it is a tale that I would read again in the future - a rarity for me! I'm sorry to see there are so few reviews, probably indicating a low number of readers, please give it time, I promise it's worth it!

I received this in exchange for an honest review. I will be buying this - it was a good book and well written.
Vivid, expansive and richly imagined….. An absolutely heartbreaking and unforgettable read, perfect for fans of gripping family dramas, and for those who enjoy great storytelling.

I absolutely loved The Interloper by B. A. Cibulskas. The characters were so well-written, that I came to really care for them, the writing is just that good. The whole cast, from the Russian puppetmaker, the beautiful Clementine, the mayor, the doctor, to the priest, are all so unique, yet all looking for something similar. The setting is spectacular, the village a character in itself. I loved how they all interact, and how they care for one another. I was heartbroken by events, I can't say anymore without ruining it. This is a story you won't forget anytime soon. I look forward to reading more by this author.

From the description of The Interloper - “ The Interloper gives a vivid portrayal of human frailty, the complexity of friendships and relationships, the interconnectedness of all things, and the delicate balance held by love, fate, and an ever-ticking clock.

HAUNTING… ONCE READ, NEVER FORGOTTEN!”. This story stayed with me long after I finished reading it. This is a book I will have to go back and read again because of how this story made me think.

This is the first book I’ve read by B.A. Cibulskas and I will definitely be going back are reading the other 5 she has written. Her background as a psychotherapist shines through in this story.

Thank you to #netgalley and #matador for allowing me to read the eARC of this book. All opinions expressed above are my own.
