This just wasn't as good as the first anthology. I really liked trying to read it during an arctic blast in the South, but I couldn't get into it after a few attempts.

This was a creative idea, but it wasn't quite my style. This was an ensemble story with different chapters written by different authors, all centered around Stevie's story.

I was expecting this to be an ensemble story, but I didn't quite realize that it was basically going to be an ensemble story that consisted mostly of short stories, since there's not much continuity chapter-to-chapter, other than Stevie's story. Because of this, everything feels very quick and I didn't feel like I got to know most of the characters and their stories.

I did really like the overall snowy Atlanta setting. I liked some chapters more than others. This will probably appeal more to people who like short story collections. I appreciated what this was, but the format was just not for me. Lots of cute stories though- I think a lot of people will really enjoy this!

#netgalleyarc I really loved this book. I love the authors of it individually and am enjoying these co-authored books they have created. The characters in this one were super relatable and fun. As someone who lives in MA, the storyline of the snowstorm was great because I’m used to this weather and the characters were spot on for people who don’t normally get all the snow that we do in MA. I hope these authors continue to write these great collective stories!

I read this while stuck inside during a blizzard the day before Christmas, so this book was practically designed for my situation. That said, it was really cute.
I would rate each love story separately, because some felt much more developed than others. This made a few of the stories feel pretty boring and dragged at times. A few of them also felt like they wrapped up a little too nicely. Despite this, the adorableness of the other relationships overcame the problems of the other stories.
Overall, this is a great YA romance to read while inside surrounded by a White Christmas.

Honestly, even better than the first one. I really enjoyed that the stories in this one we're more connected from the beginning. I feel like there's a lot of great lessons for teens in this one. And it was just the perfect holiday read.

✨Book Review✨
Whiteout by Dhonielle Clayton, Tiffany D. Jackson, Nic Stone, Angie Thomas, Ashley Woodfolk, Nicola Yoon
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book was a puzzle romance with multiple intersecting storylines. It was a very sweet read and I loved all of the Queer Black love. I still LOVE that this book was written by six incredible authors who came together to create this interconnected story. I did like Blackout better, but this book was still a lovely read that I would recommend to anyone looking for a story centered around love.

Did not disappoint. I enjoyed this book just as much as the first. All the story’s are written well and put a smile on my face. I love that the stories connect and put me in the holiday spirit. Perfect for young readers.

Thanks to NetGalley for a copy to review. BlackOut was one of my favorite reads of 2021 so when I saw this was coming, I was so excited. It’s hard to live up to having such a strong first book. I love the concept of 6 writers writing entwined stories. This one wasn’t quite as good as Black Out. I do like the setting (Georgia, rare snowstorm) but I wasn’t completely sold on all of the storylines. I still enjoyed White Out, just not as much as the first.

Thanks to Netgalley and Harper Collins for the ARC of this!

Perfect for the season and I loved the changing authors/perspectives! Lots of love happening, in all kinds of ways, and it was most of all just heartwarming and sweet. Plus, I love the cover!

DNF @ 21%. What I have read thus far is cute enough...for someone much younger than me. I didn't realize this was a YA book. There's nothing inherently wrong with that, but there are so many characters and there is so much going on that I found my attention waning. I have no doubt this will be a good read for someone younger than 21.

Thanks to NetGalley, HarperCollins Children's Books, and Quill Tree Books for the ARC!

As I sit in the window of a Minnesota whiteout, I am already craving a re-read of this book! What a charming collection of intertwined short stories, told flawlessly by the brilliant heavyweights of modern YA. I particularly appreciated the diversity of identities! Absolutely recommend, great for all ages.

I was charmed by this story, in part because I lived through (survived!) a similar "snowmageddon" situation in the South and found the whole scenario to be perfectly nostalgic and relatable. On top of that, I was rooting for all of the characters, and the representation was refreshing. I was surprised to see how many authors contributed to this book. It was very cohesive and the storylines wove together seamlessly.

Much like the authors’ previous project Blackout, I wasn’t blown away by any of the stories but they were enjoyable overall. I enjoyed seeing how all of the characters and stories tied together. I enjoyed the range and the diversity with the characters, and think Black teens will enjoy seeing themselves represented in a book about love and friendship that’s positive without any major hardships for the characters.

Whiteout is the story of twelve teens in a snowstorm, all experiencing their own unique love story, while trying to help out their friend pull off a grand apology for her girlfriend, in the middle of an Atlanta snowstorm. Each of the couple’s stories was a delight to read, and intricately woven into each other’s, with callback background characters and referenced details, and the urgency of the midnight deadline and the growing snowstorm (and interspersed weather broadcasts) helped drive the plot forward so it didn’t drag with the constant switching of perspective.
The audiobook for the title is also very well done, the full cast of narrators for each POV character really helped bring the story to life in a unique way, especially when all of the narrators are present in one chapter for a text conversation. I loved this style of audiobook, and can’t wait to read another like it.

This is one of my favorite YA books of the year, and timely with the holiday season. While this book doesn't center around a holiday, it is set during a winter storm - which made it perfect to read while curled up with a cup of hot chocolate. I love that is book's main focus is friendship and is told from the perspectives of various friends.

I was surprised that so many people had a hand in this book's creation! After reading the book, I looked back at it to see which authors wrote each character or couple. The book certainly flows well, considering all of the authors that worked on it.

Ugh I'm torn on it being ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2 stars but more like a solid 4

The Gist: There's a snowstorm in Atlanta and (you guessed it) the city is coming to a shutdown. In the midst of this snowstorm are teens Stevie & Sola who recently broke up over a big (HUGE) problem and Stevie's friends are rallying to help her win back Sola's trust. Told from varying viewpoints, you also get a peek into what Stevie's friends are dealing with during this storm and their own love drama.

The Characters: Even though there are 12 different characters, it wasn't hard to keep up with the storyline of each one. I went into this expecting a bunch of short stories but really enjoyed how interconnected each character was.

The BEST Part: If you like any kind of romance book trope, it's in here! And it's not corny or lame, each one has it's own story and is endearing in the best way possible.

Let me also say that I'm not a seasonal reader, but this is a great YA holiday story that appeals to the young and the young-at-heart. I loved that it's a compilation of some of my favorite authors and although they all have different writing styles, this book comes together seamlessly. Plus it's fun trying to guess who wrote which part!

such a fun winter read! i loved blackout, and whiteout is another great adventure with an amazing cast. each love story has depth and understanding of the different shapes relationships can have and the many kinds of love. i wish everything had come together with a bit more time in the end for all the characters to interact, but it was still a satisfying end to the story, and the epilogue was very cute.

Whiteout is definitely not Blackout which is funny considering that both books were written by the same authors. I definitely like Blackout better. Whiteout is good too but it focuses more on one couple and the people who are friends with the couple. It also takes place in Georgia instead of New York. I was hoping to run into the same characters from the last book, but that was not the case. The cast of characters are just as lovable so it's all good. Great book for a cozy night in!

This group of authors has mastered writing together. Weaving together individual stories into a whole that makes sense is no easy task and yet they have done it again! It was a joy to read about a group of friends who work together to support one another while also managing to attend to their own relationships along the way.
I highly recommend this book!

(Note: Not for middle grade due to one scene that is a smidge too explicit.)

It was a good book, enjoyed this one after Blackout. Cute, wrapped up nicely and the stories all were cohesive.
