Whats better than a secret organization that polices dark and mis-used magic? Two secret organizations that police magic. And better than two organizations? A bitter fued that has spanned the centuries since the Salem witch trials. And better than a feud? How about our two main characters who are about to be married belonging to each of the organizations and not knowing that the other is also involved. But when the truth comes out, each is given a task... take out the other. I loved this paranormal spin on Mr. And Mrs. Smith. I also really liked the way the narrative jumped from the present day to their past encounters as they were recalling them! A definite recommend. I cant get enough of Savvy and Griffin. Hopefully they make a cameo if the author decides to branch out with other characters!

Witchy vibes and action in spades! Great just read. I'm glad I got to read it.

Mr. & Mrs. Witch has a Mr. & Mrs. Smith vibe, but I was here for it. Savvy and Griffin have no idea until their wedding day that they are supernatural enemies. Savannah is a witch, Griffin is a witch hunter. This all comes out in a hilarious way and leads them down the path of figuring out what is truly going on (it's way more than just being supernatural enemies!).

Savvy and Griffin makes such a great pair, and even when they are on opposites sides you can feel their chemistry. There is plenty of action, and the plot moves quickly. Mr. & Mrs. Witch was so hard to put down!

This paranormal romance follows Savannah and Griffin. The two had a whirlwind romance and are getting ready to get married. The day is going perfectly until their secret identities are revealed - Savannah is a witch and Griffin is a witch hunter. The two are tasked by their governing agencies to eliminate the other, but when they find an even bigger secret, they have to team up in order to survive. I enjoyed this read but I wish I had a better sense of who Savannah and Griffin were as individuals and as a couple before the inciting incident. We do get flashbacks of significant moments in their relationship sprinkled throughout the current plot line but it wasn't enough for me. I think this world was really well built out and I would have enjoyed this as a duology so we could see the world even more as well as seeing Savannah and Griffin's relationship. This story took a turn to sort of romantic suspense which I wasn't expecting but very much enjoyed.

Thanks to NetGalley and St Martin's Press for the ARC. Publication date was March 7, 2023

This was a lighthearted and magical approach to a love story. The side characters always gave me a laugh and the strength of the women witches was awesome. There are definitely some cute and spicy scenes scattered throughout that any romance lover will enjoy!

I think I would’ve loved this book much more if I knew what Mr. and Mrs. smith was, lol!! This read like a knock off version of The Ex Hex or The Kiss Curse — and I loved both of those books. So I was disappointed and by 10% in decided to DNF. Thanks anyway for the ARC! Others who know/love Mr. and Mrs. Smith will definitely find this more enjoyable.

Mr. & Mrs. Witch is a fun witchy take on the iconic movie, but Gwenda Bond does a great job making it her own with the supernatural part! The romance was sweet and I really enjoyed the entire cast of characters. It was very plot driven and had more lore than I expected, but it was a fun world to be in! I definitely recommend this if you like witchy romances with strong female characters!

I received an ARC from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Mr. & Mrs. Witch was such a fun story. Savvy was a spunky character who didn't back down from a fight. Griffin and Savvy were a great couple together. The storyline flowed well and the characters were ones I cheered for. It was such a great read and I think a lot of people would enjoy Mr. & Mrs. Witch

This book was pretty good, but I didn't really like the tense that it was written in (more a personal preference than anything). The story was good, and the plot was pretty fast-paced. I liked how the story was told in dual timelines; it made the chemistry between the characters more real, and gave the audience more of a sense of who the characters are. Overall, I'd recommend this book if you enjoy witchy rom-coms!

A magical take on Mr. & Mrs. Smith. This book was such a fun book! It held my interest all the way through and I loved the characters.

Cute, a twist on Mr. and Mrs. Smith, but instead of spies, you have the PNR romance to make you laugh and swoon. A cute romance for sure!

This is my first time reading something by this author, so I didn't have any specific expectations going into it. This is also my first time reading a supernatural rom-com, and I have to say, it was quite an entertaining experience. It was a fun twist on Mr. & Mrs. Smith and the author did a nice job of bringing the comedy and romance to life. Savannah is a witch and the love of her life, Griffin, turns out to be a witch hunter, working to shut down supernatural threats. They are all set to be married, but before they seal the deal, they each find out the other's true identity. Soon after all is revealed they are each ordered to kill the other. But they soon learn that there is a threat out there to both of them, so maybe teaming up against that threat might be the better option!
This was an entertaining story and a fun twist on the movie. Definitely kept my attention all the way through. There was no doubt as to how strong the chemistry was between Savannah and Griffin, and there were plenty of fun moments that made me smile or laugh along the way. Glad to have had the change to read this!

This one had a lot of promise for me but fell flat. The problem was partially me. I was expecting more…action. I wasn’t a fan of the jumping back and forth between the past and the present. I almost would’ve preferred a duology—the first book would be them meeting and the build up of their romance and the second book would be the wedding and everything that happened after. I feel like I didn’t really vibe with their chemistry because it started right from the wedding…so it didn’t feel like a lot of build-up and connection-building. Obviously, it was their wedding day so the connection was already there but I didn’t connect with them as a reader.
Other than the plot, I actually enjoyed the writing style. I found it easy to get into the story and the characters weren’t unbearable. I would try a different book by this author sometime in the future.
Thank you St. Martin’s Press & NetGalley for this eARC!

Mr. and Mrs. Witch 4/5 Stars
Summary from Goodreads: Mr. & Mrs. Witch, the next novel from bestselling author Gwenda Bond, a couple discovers at the altar the surprising secret identities they’ve kept from each other.
Savannah Wilde is a witch, a very powerful one—an identity that only her fellow witches know. Following a whirlwind romance that surprised herself and her family, Savvy is all set to marry the love of her life. But she isn’t the only one with a secret that needs to be kept, even from her soon-to-be husband.
Griffin Carter is a top agent for a clandestine organization that, well, used to primarily hunt witches, but now mainly tries to shut down supernatural threats their own way. He can’t wait to lay his eyes on the woman he’s about to spend the rest of his life with.
As Savvy walks down the aisle to Griffin, the wedding quickly goes from blessed day to shit show when their true identities are revealed. To say there’s bad blood between their factions is putting it mildly. Savvy and Griffin are tasked to take the other out, but when they discover a secret that could take down both of their agencies, they realize the only way to survive is to team up. With assassins hot on their trail, will Savvy and Griffin make it out alive to try again at ‘I do’?
Mr. and Mrs. Witch was super cute! I really enjoyed the past and present timelines throughout this book so we could learn about what’s going on with Savvy and Griffin now and learn about how Savvy and Griffin fell in love. I think it’s super cute that the two of them were in opposing, rival spy agencies, but of course neither of them knew it until their wedding day. I liked that after they tried killing each other and couldn’t do it, they started researching and figured out that there was actually something more sinister going on in their organizations. Character wise, not only did I really like Savvy and Griffin, but I also liked all of their friends a lot too. Plot and pacing wise I thought that everything was done really well and I was never bored or questioning what was going on. Overall, Mr. and Mrs. Witch was a fun read and I definitely think y’all should pick it up today!

I love the writing of Gwenda Bond. As expected, I enjoyed the story and the characters. This was an easy read that mixes romance with comedy and a little bit of science fiction - but not too much. I think my favorite part was that the 2 main characters were already in love, but then enemies and worked back towards love. This is probably my favorite of hers!

This was a great story that had a bit of everything.

Strangers to lovers
Lovers to enemies
Enemies to lovers

And to top it all off there was MAGIC. Yes, I mean literal Magic. Savannah is a witch and her fiance has no clue. Her fiance Griffin is a witch hunter and Savannah has no clue. Do you know when realization dawns? Their wedding day!!

Soon their wedding day goes from what dreams are made of to a true nightmare.

These two are perfect for each other and it was great to be able to see their chemistry. Although they tried to deny their feelings for each other it just seemed impossible. What's meant to be will always find a way!

This was a totally unique setup for a romance and I had a ton of fun reading it. Mr. & Mrs. Witch is a witchy take on Mr. & Mrs. Smith that follows a witch and a witch hunter who are unaware of each other’s identities until their wedding day. From there, this is an action packed romp, but it’s bogged down by flashbacks. I liked seeing the romance established but the flashbacks lasted way too long. I wanted more of the present day action and the two of them overcoming their differences. There’s also a great cast of supporting characters who I hope get their own spin-offs. This was good, not great, but I respect Gwenda Bond for writing something totally unique.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for an advanced review copy of “Mr & Mrs Witch” by Gwenda Bond. Thoughts and opinions are my own.

I saw on Goodreads that the author watched Mr & Mrs Smith and was inspired to write a similar story but also add magic. I haven’t seen that movie in a long time but one scene certainty read as being very closely inspired by a scene in the movie. I actually thought having such a beat for beat scene really took away from the story. It didn’t seem like enough to build an entire story around one scene from a movie.

The story felt like I missed a book in the series and this was the second book. I don’t think that’s the case? I didn’t feel established in the world. There are also a ton of characters on both sides (witches on one and the witch hunters on the other). I wish we had started with just the couple instead of having all their friends and family members thrown at us.

The story is told in present and flashbacks. I think flashbacks can work in a book but this one didn’t really work for me. It felt like the flashbacks should have been the first book and then the wedding and the fallout should have been the second. The flashbacks pulled me out of the story. It felt like I was reading two different books at once. There is also a lot of head hopping even though the book had two POVs. The flashbacks continued up to the end, even interrupting the main story climax to flashback.

Honestly, I’m getting kind of burnt out on contemporary romance witchy books. They’re not doing anything different from one another and they’re all running together at this point. I need to take a break from this contemporary romance but there are also witches genre.

Also I don’t think I enjoy the witch/witch hunter romance trope. It never seems like the couples should be together. It makes it difficult to keep reading because I know they’ll end up together but I don’t think they should.

3/5 stars
