As a girl who grew up loving twilight, this was definitely bringing back all of the vibes. I enjoyed the adult aspect of it however and really enjoyed the werewolf aspect of it. I liked how we jumped right into the story from the beginning and we weren't given too much world building up front like a lot of books have been doing now a days. I also really enjoyed the found family aspect of this and all of the different character dynamics throughout the story. I am excited to see where this story goes from here!

Overall I enjoyed this story, it was definitely different than the usual romantasy books that I indulge in. My biggest issue was the lack of world building within the supernatural community that this author was creating. In the end I was left with A LOT of questions, but I guess that's part of reading a thriller? Honestly I'm not sure. I didn't realize until after I started the book that there was zero romance in the plot, so maybe this book just wasn't for me as I don't read many thrillers....I don't exactly find them "thrilling". For those who DO enjoy thrillers, this might be right up your ally. Thriller or no, I loved Charlotte's character. Her struggled, growth, and journey of self discovery were awe-inspiring and felt very real, minus the werewolf bits. As for the rest of the story, I really hope book two answers a lot of the questions I was left with.

Loved every second of this book and still remember it from last year when I first read it.

Due to family bereavements I have not been as active on this account and I apologise for not leaving a review in time.

Really love this book. This book was everything I wanted and more. The characters seem real and there's no instant everything is fixed nor all is well, it's actual character and relationship growth that takes time. This isn't your usual werewolf story filled with drama and romance and very little substance. This book was gritty and fierce. There was no real romance to the story, and the magical worldbuilding was understated outside of the turning of a werewolf. I also really Love the maturity in the book, no high school drama here.
There's so much to like and relate too even though yes, it's a fictional fantasy world with events that aren't just not possible here (werewolves). But the fact it still feels real is what makes it truly amazing. The story was a powerful tale based around Charlotte, a woman who's spent the last several years of her life living with an abusive and powerful man, and her attempt to get away from him, and not only heal but become a stronger person amidst dealing with a werewolf attack that leaves her struggling to survive in an isolated Alaskan cabin. She is surrounded by a colorful cast of vampires and grumpy old werewolves as they try to help her transition into a wolf, and also help her find the strength inside of her to become an independent woman again. The story deals with themes of sexual, emotional, and physical abuse, death, attempted rape, fear, and grief. It's an emotional journey couched between bloody rituals, cracking bones, and sharp teeth.
Charlotte was a strong character, and I felt emotionally attached to her throughout the story. Sure, she was abused and running for her life, often scared and sad… she had her moments of weakness, but she wasn't weak. She was an incredibly strong character, and it was an emotional rollercoaster watching her deal with the pain, grief, and terror of escaping her abuser, while also fighting for her life as she transitions to a werewolf. It was a complex dichotomy that I found captivating.
I would highly recommend this book to any reader. I look forward to the next book and totally already trying to imagine what's to come next!

If you loved twilight growing up, then this is the book for you! It is more adult version and geared towards the werewolf side, instead of vampires. Which I’m more of a werewolf girly anyways. 🤣

I love that the story gets right into it instead of waiting around to find out What happens. I love the found family aspect for the FMC and I love that she is starting to find a friendship in Liam! I hope there is some type of romance in the second book because I think that could really help her heal from her abusive relationship that she was in.

Overall a solid four stars for this book, and I cannot wait for the second book to come out!

The Bite was such a refreshing book about Charolette who was dealt a rough card and is trying to take her life back after some unfortunate circumstances. I absolutely love a good Wattpad book and this one proved to not disappoint! Z.W. Taylor really knew how to grasp my attention with her FMC and the clever banter throughout the book.
If you are into shifters, bad ass FMC’s, relatable characters, and just an all around good time you will love and need to pick this book up!

Spice: 0/5

I found this book to be refreshing as it takes a different approach to the typical romanticized depiction of turning into a werewolf, and instead focuses on Charlotte's journey of escaping a violent past and discovering a new, violent world she never knew existed. Charlotte's transformation is portrayed as a mental journey, as she breaks free from her past and starts anew. The book leaves a few unanswered questions at the end, which hopefully will be resolved in the next installment.

I liked it. But I thought it fell a little flat. I feel like a bunch of things were missing. Also, she knew that Derek was a vampire but didn't know Levi was a werewolf? How's that make sense? I still want to read the second book, I need to see how this ends.

This was a very interesting take on a werewolf story. The focus is on our FMC's journey after she escapes an abusive relationship and is bitten by a werewolf. I enjoyed the plot, and the characters were great (Derek and his cooking skills could come and live with me any day!) The author has portrayed a domestic abuse survivor very well in Charlotte, with the internal struggle and self blame she has to work through. As well as the psychological and physical challenges she faces as she is turned into a werewolf. The descriptions of her gradually shifting are so detailed that you can almost feel her pain.
I loved the ending. It made me so happy and proud.
Some parts felt a bit repetitive, but it was not a big issue.

I'm very excited to see where this series is going.

This book was freaking fantastic. The parallels between having to deal with the traumatic experience, and you are going to become a monster. And leaving an abusive situation and having to deal with understand how to get back to your self are on par.

This book is everything a werewolf book should be. No there’s no love interest, but that’s OK cause you don’t need one. There’s found family and a desire to change yourself for the better. All while dealing with the fact that things are not what you thought that they were, and you are more than you could ever imagine.

Charlotte is fleeing CA to AK to escape an abusive relationship. She is soon attacked by a werewolf and learns she will become one herself, if she can survive the transition. The Bite explores what it means to live, what does it take to get away from monsters, and what does it mean to endure.
This book is very descriptive and kept me hooked from the very first chapter. I loved that we got a female werewolf, I don't think I've ever read or seen a female werewolf.

The premise of this book was unique to me and I haven’t read a werewolf book that I’ve really enjoyed like this one on sometime. The descriptiveness of the authors writing is what really sets this book apart. The detailed handling of what happens to a human after being bitten was spectacular. I honestly enjoyed everything about this book; the plot, the characters, the writing, there wasn’t anything I didn’t like.

This was such a great and spine tingling ride. Taylor created such an interesting read that should be added to the bookshelf of anyone who loves a good werewolf story.

First book in a trilogy that originally was released on WattPad. While the storyline may not be completely original, the characters and ZW Taylor's treatment are definitely well worth my precious reading time. Charlotte is running from a life that has become intolerable, only to find herself launched into a world she did not know existed. The tension increases as she meets Levi and must work through her new life. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a new paranormal series.

The Bite is an excellent thriller about a woman on the run from an abusive relationship trying to take back her life when she is savagely attached in the woods by rough werewolves. Charlotte has to decide if she wants to try to survive the brutal change that is nearly a death sentence for most humans or die instead of going thru the change. Charlotte is still traumatized by her escape and while trying to process and accept a fresh start she realizes most of her choices have dramatically changed. She needs help ir she won’t survive the transition and then she had to choose to bond or not with the pack or most likely go mad without the grounding stability that bonds creates.

This was a great read I truly enjoyed it and I hope to see more from this author in the future I highly recommend it. Definitely a fresh take in the werewolf genre as we see the decisions and ultimately the outcome from a humans eyes as she struggles with the changes that are coming.

Werewolf books are certainly far from being new, and really, with so many installments in this genre, it's really difficult to leave a mark (no pun intended ;P). This book isn't my usual, and admittedly, I was pretty jaded going in because of experiences with bad examples in the aforementioned phenomenon, but I was pleasantly surprised. It contains elements that will be familiar and enjoyable to paranormal fans, while refreshingly staying away from the tropes that are overused and/or give the genre a bad name. Add in all of that with a strong female character who escapes abuse and takes control of her own life, there's a lot to love in this book.
