I want expecting the werewolf paranormal twist, but an enjoyable thriller. Can't wait for part 2!

Many thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the advanced copy of the book.

This one was a little more violent that I thought it would be but I did enjoy it. I’m a sucker for a good wolf story. That being said the character development is pretty fantastic. I can’t wait to see what happens in part 2.

Okeeey!! What a lovely surprise this book is. First, thanks Netgalley and Wattpad WEBTOON Book Group for the issue. It can also be found on Wattpad but BEWARE, it's the same story but very different (I'm going to tell you how I know this).

The Bite is the beginning of a story where we will meet Charlotte, a young woman who escapes from a withered and violent past, where her ex used violence towards her. Related to this, it touches on sensitive issues and is quite graphic at times, but I felt it was handled well.

Her life changes completely when, while escaping from this human scum, she is bitten in the forest by a wolf (and it is clearly not an ordinary wolf). That's when he finds out that werewolves exist.

I really liked how the transformation progressed, what each of these stages meant and how the bonds with the people around her were becoming closer. I liked how the subject of vampires, wolves and sorceresses was treated (although we know little about them), I liked the rhythm of the book, the short but super interesting chapters.

When I finished reading the book I NEEDED MORE and that's why I went to wattpad to find the second part. And it started with a character that I hadn't even met here... so I went to look for the first part and I found that the story is quite different. And I stay a thousand times with this edited version (which will be published in a couple of months). The story that can be read on wattpad (from what little I read) is very rushed, the protagonist is the possessive-wolf type that I don't like and the whole transformation process seems to be carried out alone, because at least 3 characters that Charlotte knows in THIS book, they don't even show there.

That's why I like this version a lot more and I look forward to the sequel!

A wattpad fave of mine, I'm so glad I'll be able to own it soon. If you want a coherent werewolf story with a strong fmc this is the one.

Charlotte is frightened, but free. After years of physical, sexual, mental, and emotional abuse, she has finally escaped from her partner. She's headed for a remote cabin that she thinks Nate won't find when she gets lost in the Alaskan wilderness...and attacked by monsters. Waking up, she learns that her attackers were rogue werewolves and that she has been infected. Most humans don't survive the long, painful, shift from human to wolf, but with the help of vampire Derek and werewolf Liam, she just might have a chance.

This gritty contemporary paranormal novel doesn't pull any punches when discussing Charlotte's past or her chances for a future. It's a well-written story told from her point of view, pulling readers relentlessly along as Charlotte learns how to live again. Well-developed secondary characters add glimpses of humor and hope, lightening what could have been an even darker story. Highly recommended.

“On the third full moon from your bite, you will shift”
“Life is what you make it”
This paranormal book was great !!
I’m into very spooky books for this October season and knowing what this one was … I fell right into that very vibe !!
I really liked the plot and the way the story evolves.
A young woman, running from a toxic and abusive relationship, finds herself in a very complicated and unprecedented situation … she is bitten by a rogue werewolf. Now her life changes and there is only one question to ask … does she want to live?
I really enjoyed reading this book.
It was a very easy narrative and very light.
The only trigger warning I feel like should be highlighted is the mention of the incredibly toxic but real relationship she had to experience with her ex.
This book was definitely the triumph of a woman claiming her life back after everything she has been through. In a very paranormal, vampires and werewolves kind of way but still !!
I’m so glad I had the chance to read it and I truly hope this story will go on because .. I would really like to read more about some side characters that caught my eyes !!
“A deal is a deal, Charlie girl”
“You’re right, baby, I am a goddamned monster, and right now, you really don’t want to piss me off any more”

I got a advanced copy. The beginning hooked me. Then somewhere in the middle it was losing me. I liked how they wrapped up the end but almost too abrupt. I wanted more after all she come through.

Charlotte has been trapped in a toxic relationship and desperate times for desperate measures. Charlotte flees California with the aid of a Good Samaritan. However, when Charlotte gets to her next destination she has no idea she stepped from one bad situation and right into a new world she never thought possible. She’s bitten and suddenly pitted against herself in a game of survival.

I would recommend this to anyone who likes suspense and a good character who develops and changes and gets stronger from her experiences. This was a unique spin off on a individual werewolf story. I rate this a four out of five. I wished there was a healthy love interest but a girl can maybe hope there will be some spice in book two!

This is an excellent werewolf origin story. It dealt with abusive relationships and finding new safe friends.

This was an easy and quick read.
I really liked the main character and the way she grew throughout the story.

There isn't any romance in this book. Though I wish there would have been.
I will be okay if I don't have to see or hear "Charlie girl" anymore - way too repetitive.

I think I may give the next book in the series a try to see how it progresses.

While the plotline was interesting and the way that being a werewolf worked in this world was intriguing, the novel did not feel polished. It seemed as if the novel needed one more pass with an editor (there has to be another way to say that a vampire moved quickly besides the word "zipped"). However, the main character was interesting and her journey away from an abusive relationship and towards self discovery was believable. There was also enough grumpy werewolf/mentor/potential future love interest to make you want to read the next installment in the series.

I don't even know where to start. I knew this book was going to be a great read - I mean werewolves, am I right? - but the author had such a way of leading you through the story that it completely engulfed me. It starts out with a girl running from her abusive boyfriend, she heads to Alaska but instead of finding the cabin she was meant to, she gets lost. She decides to sleep in her car that she parked in a campsite for the night, she gets attacked and bitten. Rescued by another pack, she has to go on a long and excruciating journey of three full moons in order to fully shift - something humans very rarely survive. The author brings a whole new perspective on werewolf shifting and what it means to be a werewolf. The read was so good I finished it within 24 hours, it was beautiful and eye opening and I loved all of it! 😭❤️

This book has potential! But for the love of everything, pleaseeee get this book formatted for e-books, it was VERY hard to read. I would never deduct a star for that, but it was really hard to make it all the way through the book with random line breaks on every single page.

I went into this book COMPLETELY blind. So blind that I wasn’t sure if it was fantasy (werewolves) or contemporary fiction about a hiker getting bit by the wolf in the night and having to survive(ie: Into Thin Air). I figured it had to be one or the other and I was intrigued enough to go on that journey. I assumed it was a stand-alone. Turns out by reading other reviews, it’s a trilogy!

Its also marketed as a romance and it certainly is not. Even if the later books in the trilogy are romance you run the risk of getting annihilated by people expecting book 1 to be a romance, I highly recommend removing the romance tag.

-I enjoyed the character development! It felt like everyone grew throughout the book, even side characters. There were a lot of unanswered things… about rogues, moon blood, Liam, etc. That being said, I presume that those questions get answered in later books.
-I found the overuse of Charlie girl to be really annoying. I liked the ending with Nate, though if his PIs got close enough to question her whereabouts in that town, they for sure would have caught onto Yulanda having a brother with a cabin in that same area.
3.5/5 star

This book was such a nice surprise for me. I had no idea how huge this trilogy was on Wattpad a few years ago and the writing is so so good!

I really liked the main character and her development throughout the events and I can't help but admire her strenght and endurance. Actually, this whole book is about endurance and overcoming her past wounds and the life changing event of bing bitten.

In the next book I hope we get to see more of the pack and uderstand who were the rogues that attacked her. Also, I can't help but wonder if Liam will be her mate.... I was warned that the slow burn is real in this trilogy so I guess I'll have to just wait and see!! And of course I'm now a sucker for Levi, Derek and Elliot.

I was gifted a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

I have to say that I highly enjoyed this book! I dont usually like to venture into the were side of supernatural as they tend to all be very similar but Taylor did an amazing job creating unique story with a slightly different version of your typical monsters.

I love the main character and the depth that Taylor was able to provide her. She is escaping an abusive past that constantly haunts her dreams, even more than the monsters now surrounding her waking hours. She quickly adapts to her surroundings and bonds with each of the characters in a very unique way. The father daughter bond that she has growing between her and Levi is well written and wonderfully done and the close best friend like bond between her and BOTH of the vampires I love.

I also like the character Liam and am curious to see how this grows in the next novel!

I thought this was a pretty good book. I liked to see the character growth as Charlotte regained her strength. I do feel like some things were left unanswered so hopefully another installment is forthcoming.

Charlotte just escaped her abusive boyfriend, Nate, in California. Her friend’s brother has a cabin in Alaska and that’s where she is heading when she is bitten by a wild wolf.
Charlotte will have to decide if she can handle the changes that are happening to her. With the help of a lone wolf, she may have a chance of making it.
Determined to live life by her own rules, she will need to confront her past and face her future.

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

Summary: A beautiful werewolf novel about a woman who fights her way back into her life.

First of all, I would like to say in advance that this book can trigger. This concerns the topics: domestic violence, psychological dependency and trauma disorders. Sensitive readers should therefore be a little cautious.

I liked this book immensely. I liked the "flow" of the story and the characters. Werewolf and vampire fans will get their money's worth here. If you're hoping for a love story, you'll be disappointed with "The Bite". But... maybe the two following volumes will also be published and then Charlotte will find happiness in love.

As a heroine, you simply have to like Charlotte herself. Not only because of her past, but also because of her inner strength and naturalness. As a "woman on the run" she is really unlucky. Her "bad karma" steers her straight into the arms of the next "monster". But this time with serious life-changing consequences. Luckily, her rescuers decide to help her, so that as the story progresses, an almost family-like relationship develops.

"The Bite" can be read as a stand alone. No cliffhanger.

This was my first shifter book, and it was probably my last as well. While the story and writing were fine (I especially liked Levi’s character and also the way Charlotte ultimately handled Nate), I just couldn’t get into it. I know it’s part of a trilogy but I definitely wasn’t hooked enough to continue. I’m sure some readers will enjoy this but as it turns out, I do require a modicum of believability in the books I read.

This book feels like its building up to a potentially big reveal but stops suddenly, and that's disappointing. Im still a little lost on the importance of the MC and her "Moon Blood" status, and felt like there was too much breadcrumbing of information that got annoying after a while. I love Derek and Elliot's characters though, lovely supporting characters. I also sense a budding romance but will it be worth the tension???

Thank you to NetGalley for this eARC.

Charlotte is running from an abusive past. She’ll keep running until she can make sure she’s never found.

However, she is found, but not by who she’s running from. This is something entirely different, something she can’t run from. One bite changes her life forever, but will it be for the better?

ZW Taylor did an amazing job writing this story. I truly enjoy seeing a shifter book from a fully detailed perspective. There’s no need in this to explain the extensive background of the supernaturals, because it is what it is. It’s “real life”.

I rated this a four, simply because it’s marketed (or was to me) as a romance book but there’s… none? Not even a little spice. However, while out of my reading wheelhouse, this book is a great simple shifter book.
