Another brother to fall for. This time we follow Des and his destructive years in witness protection and what he left behind. The girl he was torn apart from and now a son he had no idea existed become his two top priorities. Having sheltered and denied himself for years it's awesome to see his return to life like a phoenix rising from the ashes.
His hard exterior and broken heart had me from the previous book about his brother E, so it's easy to admit I was really looking forward to his story. You can't help but want everything to work out for them all, but Des seems like he has a bit more to work out and needs al the support he can get.
So many more brothers who have stories yet to unfold and this being only the second book we have a lot more to unveil with this family - mom included. I think I'm hooked.
Thanks Netgalley for the chance to read this book and give my honest opinion.

I couldn't wait to get my hands on this one! I'm really loving this series about brothers trying to reclaim their lives after a long time in witness protection. They lost so much and the HEA's are just that much more satisfying because of it.

10 Signs You Need to Grovel is Desmond's book. He's the very grumpy brother from the first book and his hurts are front and center. When he finds out he has a son he didn't know about because of witness protection, everyone knows it's not going to be an easy ride.

I loved Des's attitude toward these revelations and his slow return to the living. His family is there to support him all the way. There's lots of emotion here, and there's a scene early on between Des and his mother that had me leaking all over the place.

All is not easy-peasy for him, though. His former girlfriend and now mother of his child is justifiably hesitant with introducing her son to his father, and she's protecting her own heart as well. But what complicates things is that Sadie has built a life for herself that is at risk the closer she gets to Desmond. While I wasn't a fan of some of the things that are fibbed about here, I got it.

What I really like about this series is that it is written entirely in the male point of view. It's Desmond's journey back and I love that about this series. It's emotional, often sweet and heart-warming and even angry. Although I expected a little more anger from Des, I did like that it didn't take him long to figure out what was really important. It's an absolutely wonderful HEA.

I'm just loving this series. It's been some time since I've actually stalked an ARC on Netgalley, I just can't get enough of the Bower brothers. Really great romantic series so far.

This is the second book in this intriguing series, and this is Desmond and Sadie’s story. Des and his family were forced to leave behind the lives they knew to go into witness protection, and now 10-years later they can return home. Des is a grumpy, tattooed, bartender, while Sadie is a dedicated single mom to her son Max. Des wants to get to know his son and make amends for leaving Sadie behind. This is a well written story which has undeniable chemistry, and is an emotional roller coaster, with humor, witty banter, family, friendships, heartbreak, twists, trust, redemption, and love, which leads to an entertaining and steamy page turner.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5
SPICE: 🔥🔥.5

Desmond Bower and his three brothers are trying to piece back what life they lost when they went into the witness protection program. Now that the people they were running away from are no longer a problem, it was time for them to get their lives back on track.

Des' life had gotten much more complicated while he was in hiding. He had to leave Sadie back in Windfall, and after ten years, he is coming back to win her over. Unfortunately, the party of two he had hoped they become wasn't exactly how he pictured it, because he now has to deal with Max..his ten-year-old son.

I love this story. The character arc that Des takes from grumpy bartender to doting partners and father was so much fun to witness. I know kids in romance books are not everyone's jam, but this was done with such thoughtfulness that I don't know how Des could not endear himself to any reader.

And the chemistry between Des and Sadie? On. freaking. point. I love the emotional tug-of-war in second-chance romances because it adds a complicated layer to their dynamic and can build so much delicious tension. This book absolutely delivered on that.

This is the second book in the Bower Boys series, and even though main characters from Book 1 make an appearance, this can be read as a standalone. If you enjoy second chance with a side of cute kid, I highly recommend this read.

The second book in the Bower family concentrates on Desmond. Everything was great in his life until his family was forced into the Witness Protection Program. Desmond was in love with Sadie and was planning their future together. He wasn’t allowed to contact her and over the years, lost contact with his brothers as well. Almost eleven years later, his brother finds him and he learns that the family can resume their former life, but what does that mean? Calling Sadie, he realizes that she has a son, his son Max who is ten years old. Can he make up for lost time with her, with Max and will they want him to be a part of their lives? A pleasant second chance at love story, but the word “grovel” is a little misleading as his absence during those years was beyond his control. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)

So many emotions 🥺🥰 4.5⭐️

Desmond and his family were torn from their lives 11 years ago when they were placed in WITSEC. Now they’re back where they belong, trying to start their lives again. Sadie searched for the love of her life for as long as she could. Moving on and raising their son became her priority. But now that he’s back, she wants Des to meet their son.

The emotions. I’m so sad they lost all that time together but ecstatic with how they end up back in each others lives. I loved the way Des approaches meeting his son.. What an amazing way to not disrupt a child’s life. Max is the sweetest kid! And Sadie is such a wonderful mother. The strength she had to have to be a single mom without any help from family. Even how she reacts to Des’ situation was beautiful and really speaks to her character.

Des had been so lost since leaving Sadie and now that he’s back, he’s willing to do whatever it takes to be part of her and their sons life. Even if it means picking up where he left off 11 years ago.. Now he has something to prove.

Wow. Just amazing!!

Another chapter in the lives of the Bower Boys begins. Trying to live your life in WITSEC is hard enough. Even after 10 years, Desmond (AKA Daniel), still hadn't found his groove. He still mourned everything he lost. Sadie, law school, Sadie. Now, after everything is out in the open and they are safe to move around freely and reclaim their lives, Des still can't seem to find a way to move forward. Finding out that he lost even more than he first thought brings rage and anger and fear and pain. Is there a way for him to get back what he lost? This story is his journey back to becoming who he wants to be, not necessarily who he thinks he should be. The title feels a bit misleading since he shouldn't have to grovel since none of this was really his doing but at some point, he will need to pull out all the stops in order to have the life he truly wants.

Thank you so much Netgalley for this eArc. Im leaving this review voluntarily.

Des reunites with his first love, Sadie, after being a part for 10 years due to some reasons. This is a second chance romance that with a great character development. A little heads up, its angsty.

Much like the first book of the Bower Boys series, this one had me swooning and cheering and laughing and crying all at the same time. Kelly Siskind has a masterful way of writing these kinds of stories, with heroes who have baggage that they struggle to overcome and heroines who are powerful and empathetic at the same time. And when you put those two people together, you get magic. When we got glimpses of Desmond in 50 Ways to Win Back Your Lover , I knew right away that I was going to love him and want to protect him and that did not change.

It’s important to read the first book (and really just read the books in order), because there’s a lot that’s covered and explained in the first one that doesn’t necessarily get addressed in this one. Desmond came across as aloof and grumpy and angry in the first book and he still comes across that way in his own story, but you actually get to see his side of things and that’s always a bonus, because it helps you fully understand this character and the choices he makes. You also get to see this other side of Desmond that we don’t necessarily see through E’s eyes in book one and I loved how soft Des is, even when he’s being grumpy and getting tattooed the most ridiculous things all over his body.

I enjoyed watching Des get his life back on track, interact with the kids in the hiking group and seeing him try his damndest to make sense of the life he’s been thrust into. He admits and accepts his faults and flaws, but instead of just rotting in them, he attempts to learn and get better. And sometimes, that’s what you need to do in life and Des proves over and over again that no matter what, it’s important to get back up.

His relationship with Sadie was beautiful. It was very different from E and Delilah in the sense that Sadie was far more welcoming of Des in her town and in her life. The flashbacks and little treats we get of their young love were so wonderful. Watching them navigate this relationship as adults felt so real, too. I loved that they took their time, but also struggled to really resist the other.

I cannot recommend this series enough and I really hope more people pick up these glorious books!

Such a heartwarming story!

Desmond is the grumpy, hates-everything brother in the Bower family, who, after eleven years in witness protection are slowly reclaiming their previous lives. Des just found out that the girl he was forced to leave behind was pregnant, and he now has a ten-year-old son. After being angry at the world for more than a decade, he has a long way to go to find peace with where he is now.

Sadie is a dedicated mom and art curator, thrilled to finally get the answers that have eluded her for so long but still not sure what the future will look like. She and Des still have that undeniable chemistry, and that coupled with their determination to put their son Max's needs above all else make for a riveting redemption story that is filled with intense emotions and more than a few absolutely hilarious scenes. Young Olivia is a whole thing all by herself, and I loved how she kept Des on his toes!

This book was a joy to read, and like the earlier books in this series it's told entirely from Desmond's first person POV. Their HEA was everything I'd hoped for, and I'm eagerly looking forward to reading Lennon and Maggie's story next. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Ohhhh where to start? Des is a grumpy bartender living on autopilot. He was on witness protection for 10 years and the treat is gone so he gets to have his life back… except that everyone has moved on and he’s not sure he knows how to do it.
This was an amazing, fun and uplifting second chance story full of awesome hikes. Interesting teenagers that Des is in charge of and one of the best dad - son relationships I’ve read so far.
Highly recommend.

Desmond Bower had it all before his &*^% father went and ruined everything and then the entire family had to go into witness protection services. Instead of finishing law school and having Sadie Jones as his wife, he was now bartending and known as Daniel Baker. To say he has a chip a his shoulder is an understatement, it's more like a boulder! When Des' brother Edger shows up to give him some news, he assumes it's about his father but instead he tells him that he has a 10 year old son, named Max. All of the brothers show up to lend their support because Sadie wants Des to meet Max.

Des first meets with Sadie and all those feelings come rushing back. They agree for Des to meet Max but they won't tell him who Des is yet. Now that Sadie and Max are in Windfall, Des decides to rent a place to stay at for the summer so he can get to know his son. Then Des persuades his brother Lennon to open a branch of his kid's camp in Windfall and let him run it. Sadie will sign Max up and that way they can spend some time together. Sadie ends up helping Des run the camp and they have a great summer. Max really opens up to Des and they bond.

Des starts to realize that he needs to get his life in order so that he can have Sadie and Max in his life forever. He develops a plan, but then over time he is not sure that that plan will work anymore. Just when Des figures out what he really wants, a wrench is thrown into his plan. It will take a lot of trust for this new family life to work but in the end they get their perfect happy ending.

I just loved this second chance romance story. Des was such a fun character. It was so entertaining watching him with Max, and his love for Sadie had never dwindled. I cannot image what they two went through all those years ago but it was a perfect ending for this wonderful couple. I also adored Des' relationship with his neighbor, Mirielle Allard. Those two together were a hoot! Now I can't wait for Lennon's story which is next!

This is the second book in the Bower brothers series and though it can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading this series in order. Though the first book was E’s story, you met all the brothers in that book and I was immediately drawn to Desmond and knew when his time came, it was going to be quite the tale to tell. This book is Desmond’s story. Prior to their world imploding, Desmond was on top of the world, seemed to have it all. Dating the love of his life, with plans to propose to her, going to law school, exciting & successful future ahead of him. And then, in a blink of an eye, it was all taken away. As the entire family was unexpectedly put into WITSEC – they all had to adjust but it seemed to his Des the hardest. He lost everything and spiraled down….he rarely saw his family, was drinking, etc – became unrecognizable as the man he once was.
Fast forward 10 years later and the threat to their family has been eliminated and they are welcome to go back to their “old” lives – if possible. Des is still estranged from his family but it drawn back to his hometown to help his brother and learns that Sadie – his long, lost love has also returned. He then learns that Sadie has a son and through a series of events, learns that that son is his…he is a father. 10 Signs You Need to Grovel is ultimately a story of the steps Desmond takes to not only win back Sadie and have a relationship with his son but also the work he must go through to reconnect with his family and to reconnect with himself – the Desmond he used to be and figure out where his life goes from here. Ultimately is a wonderful second chance love story that goes beyond Des and Sadie and includes his son, his brothers and even his mom. I thoroughly enjoyed this revisit with the Bower family and am looking forward to the next installation in the series.

Thank you to NetGalley for the arc!

This was cute and easy to get through, which some might find to be rude of me to say. I don't mean it in a negative way. I *wanted* to keep reading because I liked the storyline that much.

I'm not always the biggest fan of second-chance romance in books. I don't really know why, I just feel very "meh" about them. However, it didn't really bother me in this book. That being said, I didn't feel that much chemistry between Sadie and Des. It was obvious they cared for each other and that they wanted the best for each other and their son. Most of the time, it didn't feel all that romantic to me. It might have been different if we had some of Sadie's POV but to be honest, I was fine with Desmond's POV only.

I enjoyed the cast of characters so much. The banter was fantastic. The Bower brothers may have fought but you could feel the love they had for each other. There was so much growth in each character, including side characters, it was easy to root for everyone.

I didn't realize this was the second in a trilogy (series?) but I enjoyed it and I can see myself checking out the other books.

This is, overall, a cute book to read. The story flows, there’s details, and you empathize with Desmond, the main character, about his life and feelings of finding out shocking news. The story was fairly shallow, though, and at times, the writing was immature. The spicy scenes were good, but all in all, I think there could have probably been more conflict. Still a good read.

10 Signs You Need to Grovel by Kelly Siskind
Rating: 5 stars
Steam: 2 chilis
Pub Date: 1/31

You’re looking at my first five-star read of 2023! I loved 50 Ways to Win Back Your Lover, and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on a copy of this second installment in the Bower Boys series.

This book is about Desmond, E’s grumpy and unapproachable older brother, who we met in 50 Ways. Angry, sullen, and prone to violent outbursts, Des is not in a good place. When he was thrown into WITSEC (witness protection) years earlier, he left behind a promising law career and Sadie, the love of his life. But now that it’s safe to come out of hiding he finds out that he has a 10-year-old son whom he’s never met. So he heads back to Windfall to try to get Sadie back, meet his son for the first time, and put the pieces of his life back together.

This series has me so emotional! This family had their lives ripped apart ten years ago, and they’re all struggling to get some of it back, little by little. Des is a fantastic character I loved watching him go from hating everyone and everything to being a loving boyfriend and father by the end. We once again only see the story through Des’ POV, which had me more emotionally invested in his journey to getting Sadie and Max back in life. He is grumpy and complex and he might be my favorite Bower brother so far.

I wanted to savor every word of this heartfelt story, but I ended up flying through it. I teared up so many times that I lost count! I am such a softie for stories involving children, especially reconciliation stories, and I fell in love with this little family almost instantly. The work Siskind did on Max’s character and what he was struggling with was well done! And Des’ constant struggles wondering if he was doing the right thing as a parent were all too relatable.

The romance between Des and Sadie had just the right amount of tension and slow burn. When they finally gave in to their feelings the spice was (fire).

If you’re a romance reader and you haven’t started this series yet, what are you waiting for? Read if you like heartwarming second chance romance, the outdoors, hilarious side characters, witty banter, the art world, small towns, and a grumpy/sunshine dynamic. Thank you so much to Kelly Siskind for the signed physical copy, and to NetGalley and Montlake for the eARC. I can’t wait for Lennon’s story, which I can already tell is going to be amazing. 10 Signs You Need to Grovel is out on 1/31.

How do I love these Bower boys, too many to count the ways. 10 Signs You Need to Grovel is the second book in a series by Kelly Siskind. This is only the second book of Kelly's I've read and I'm already signed up for her newsletter. Such a talent, I can't wait to read what comes next.

Ten years ago Desmond Bower and his family were suddenly plucked from their lives and secreted away into Witness Protection. Each family member suffered a great loss in their life and coped with these changes in different ways. This story follows Desmond the past Golden Boy of the family. His trajectory had the most dramatic change of the 5 brothers. Not only did he have to leave law school behind, he also left his high school sweetheart he was preparing to propose to.

Kelly has me addicted to her male MCs and the stories told from their POVs. A fresh take on romance getting to feel it from the male perspective. And these men, oh how they have me falling in love. Her characters are full of heart, resilience, flaws and great emotional strength. These are the kind of characters that have you believing in humanity. Add to that the tough ladies that they love. The ones who were left behind with broken hearts and no explanations. Each character is full of personality as is the quaint town these boys grew up in. A bonus to all of this is the family unit itself. The relationships amongst the brothers gives an added layer to the humor and heartache of the Bower Family's horrific experience.

The Bower Boys series by Kelly Siskind is among my favorite in the romance genre. I love a good series where you get to revisit past characters and see glimpses of how they're doing. I am hooked on the Bower Boys and wait anxiously for the next release.

I received a ARC of this book from NetGalley and the publisher Montlake, Seattle. I am leaving this review here voluntarily.
