After losing his wife, all Jake has left in the world is his daughter, Piper. Rich in-laws have tried to take Piper away from him, causing a huge rift between Jake and his dead wife’s family. When Jake decides to allow a birthday party for Piper things take a turn. Someone is shot dead and Piper is kidnapped. It all looks as if Jake is guilty of murder so he must run and hide to find Piper before it’s too late.

Overall, this book was enjoyable and a good read. It did get a little redundant in parts but the storyline was strong and held my attention.

This was my first book by Chad Zunker. I look forward to exploring his others.

Jake Slater loses his wife in a hit-and-run accident and then faces a custody battle with her parents over his daughter Piper. A year later he agrees to a reunion with the estranged family for Piper's birthday. While there a shot rings out and her cousin Caitlyn is murdered and Piper is kidnapped. Caitlyn's dying words: "Piper knows the truth". Jake is the only witness to her murder and therefore the only suspect. Forced on the run, he is determined to clear his name and rescue his daughter. Overall this was a thrilling read, with a great plot and well-written characters, I highly recommend it. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced reader copy.

3.5 rounding up, it was a good story that I liked. Nothing spectacular here but it was a solid, quick read.

Chad Zunker can certainly tell a fast-paced, high-stakes, tension-filled story. This has all the aspects to make it a super quick read: short chapters, high-stress situations, a big secret that needs to be uncovered before time runs out... I liked this story. This is one of those "Why did that character keep running if they really are innocent" but I TOTALLY got it -- Jake knows how wealthy (read: powerful) his wife's family, specifically his father-in-law, are and what that money and power could do against him. Also, he seems like he will do ANYTHING to get his daughter back and at the time running seemed the only way he was going to be able to get to her (circling back to that wealth that means power his father-in-law has? He knows no one will take him seriously).

Side note: the fact that the FBI Agent is named Dani was icing on the cake; it isn't the most common name I see in books (maybe just the ones I read perhaps, idk) so I immediately showed my husband and said "Look her name is Dani and she's an FBI Agent!" What a great name for a great female lead character ;-)

Thanks to Thomas & Mercer via Netgalley for the early copy to read and review.

This was just an odd read, I wanted to love it , I saw it all over , it was not for me. Slow story and predictability factor was strong. Not as twisty as I had hoped . Fell flat for me.

Fairly predictable thriller-mystery but with a quick pace. I really enjoyed getting right to the action within the first few chapters.

TBH, I’d never heard of Chad Zunker before reading Family Money (which I read and reviewed earlier this year). He wrote a series featuring Sam Callahan and the David Adams legal thriller An Equal Justice, but somehow he was new to me. I really enjoyed the plotting and pace of Family Money, so I was pleased to receive All He Has Left from NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer in exchange for this honest review.

Jake Slater’s wife died when she was the victim in a hit-and-run, and all he has left is his daughter, Piper. Jake and his rich in-laws are in a custody battle for Piper but it is the in-laws who have the money to fight this battle. In this sense, it is similar to Alex Mahan of Family Money, whose wife Taylor has the same kind of annoying rich relatives. When Piper’s thirteenth birthday rolls around, Jake agrees – then his nightmare of losing Piper (all he has left, remember?) becomes reality as she is kidnapped and her cousin is murdered.

Lucky Jake – he is the only witness to the murder—and also the only suspect. Off he goes on a wild chase to find the truth and save Piper. A fun escape from the news! Four stars.

Jake's life is falling apart. His wife dies in a car crash that also injures his daughter. A year passes, Jake and Piper return to town, only for Piper to be kidnapped and her favorite cousin murdered. As the story progresses, Jake finds the world conspiring against him. As he searches for Piper he is trailed by the FBI, as assassin, and thd ruthless media. Intriguing story. 3.5 out of 5 ⭐️

This is a fairly predictable thriller/mystery with quick pacing. We jump right into the action with his wife dying in the first few chapters, and in a few more chapters his daughter is kidnapped. I really liked that we got right into the story without wasting time on an unnecessary setup. It had just enough information to understand family dynamics and the overall scene.

I chose to give this three stars because the story wasn't all that unique and was predictable for anyone who reads this genre. It wasn't a bad read, but it's not something I will remember after reading a few more books.

All He Has Left is a nail biter roller coaster ride of family money, power and killing
First Jake's wife is killed in a hit and run accident. Then his teenage daughter is kidnapped and Jake is lost as to why.
Don't turn you back on those closet to you.

It's going to take everything Jake has to get answers and his daughter back and that is what he plans to do.

No matter who gets in his way.

This is a great story and really quick read.

Thank you #NetGalley

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC copy. A fast-paced thriller that grabbed me from the beginning. My first book by this author but definitely won’t be my last. I finished it in a day because I couldn’t put it down.

All He Has Left is a fun, fast, easy-to-read thriller reminiscent of the classic The Fugitive. Jake is a loveable dad who's had some tough breaks and is bent on finding his missing daughter.
Thanks for the digital review copy.

Jake Slater is married to a very well off woman with very well off family, he is a High School coach.
Their marriage hits a rocky patch, and after visiting his in-laws, there is a tragic accident on the way home.
Sarah dies, and Piper, his daughter, is badly injured.
He nearly loses Piper in a custody battle with his wealthy father in law, and when the court case is over, he moves away.
A year later, he takes Piper to celebrate her 13th birthday with her mother's family, and she is kidnapped while staying with her cousin Caitlin, who is fatally shot by the kidnapper.
Jake finds Caitlin, and she tells him that his wife's death was not an accident.
Jake is on the run, desperately trying to find Piper, and being pursued by a hit man.

This book is quite short, a really quick read, but is absorbing. There is a lot of action, many secrets and it is fast paced.

You can virtually feel Jake's panic, and the love he has for his child.

I've read many books by Chad Zunker and have enjoyed them all. This one was no different. Fast paced, and easy to follow along with characters I've come to know and love. His books grab you and keep you wanting to read more. I highly recommend this book.

Unfortunately this book was not for me, it was a bit slower than I would like and it just didn't hold my attention. I am sure other people will love it!

"All He Has Left" is an action packed mystery novel, full of action, deceit, and greed. A strong plot, great characters, and nail biting suspense made for a very enjoyable read from an author that I was previously unfamiliar with. I highly recommend this well woven, wonderfully written book and look forward to reading more from Mr. Zunker.

An enormous thanks to Thomas & Mercer and Netgalley for the opportunit to read this before its February 21, 2023 release.

I usually tend to lower my expectations for family drama novels as in the majority of cases they all seem a little extra in trying to go above and beyond being just family drama novels. So I prepared myself for the same with "All he has left" by Chad Zunker. However, I was pleasantly surprised and I'm glad for that.

The description gives most of the plot out right away, so for me it wasn't about the mystery solving (you will most likely be blaming the right person from the very beginning). Powerful and wealthy family on one side, grieving football coach on the other side and then there's suddenly a third side - a kidnapped child. Still recovering from his wife's death, Jake Slater is now put in the middle of another tragedy as the whole world (meaning his in-laws, police, FBI and media) accuses him of a brutal murder and nobidy seems to be willing to help him with getting his kidnapped daughter back, so he has to find everything out all alone.

It's quite a fast-paced but well-written story, while reading you feel like each scene is really needed to be in its place to form the whole picture and that's what I especially liked about this book. One more thing that I really liked is actually the main character. Jake is not a superhero who does everything right, he makes his own mistakes, makes wrong choices and sometimes has to deal with pretty upsetting consequences, but his thoughts can awaken some feelings inside of a reader and that's, I think, is the best a characted and a book can do (Dani, a FBI agent, is a little questionable for me from this perspective though, but that's a whole different story, I'm a bit sensitive to major female charactes in such novels).

All in all, I'd say that this book is a good choice to spend a couple of evenings with when you know what to expect. It may not be the most thrilling and breathtaking/heartwrenching novel you'll ever read but it's definitely a nice example of a family secret revealing detective story to consider reading when you're stuck with your tbr.

Not a dull moment.

Jake Slater fell in love with someone from the opposite side of the tracks. His wife came from wealth - he's a high school football coach.

Tragedy comes right at the beginning of the book with a tragic car accident hat crushes his daughter's love of sports, takes the life of his wife, and makes things even worse with his in-laws.

Ever escape police custody to try to save your daughter?

Ever have the woman who was almost your fiancé years ago be one of the FBI agents hunting you?

--Jack Slater has.

He knows one thing: He can't trust the police to save Piper (his daughter), so it's all on him.

This was a fat paced read with plenty f racking, deaths, and family drama.

Greed & Power are terrible things - especially when those that are rich feel they can create their own rules.

This is the first Chad Zunker book I have read. I will definitely be looking for more.

LOVED Chad Zunker's newest book All He Has Left!! Jake is a High School coach who loses his wife in a car accident. He is fired from his coaching job. He happens to discover that his niece has been murdered, and at the same time, his only daughter, Piper, all he has left, has been kidnapped. Jake begins to be "on the run", as it looks like he could have killed the niece and he must find and rescue his daughter from her captors. The story is filled with twists and turns, with more murder, and the appearance of an "old flame".

This is a fun, fast paced story, set in my hometown, which made the reading even more delightful! The book is well written, with the right numbers of characters and enough action to compel me to finish in record time. Highly recommend! This is one of Zunker's bests!

Thank you to NetGalley for allowing me to read and review All He Has Left.

When Jacob lost his wife in a tragic car accident he decided to move him and his daughter far away from his over bearing in-laws but since it was her 13th birthday he decided to be the bigger person despite their underhanded tactics and let piper celebrate her birthday with them. When he went to pick her up at her cousin Kaitlyn‘s house however he heard a gunshot and when he broke the window to get in he found Kaitlyn on the floor bleeding from the stomach and then every parents worst nightmare he heard piper scream outside. When he ran outside to see what was wrong the last thing he saw was a man pushing her into a tow truck and driving off when the police arrived because of the negative things as in-laws were saying they immediately thought he did it! They detained him but he faed illness and snuck away from them and when the FBI was called in to assist the lead investigator was none other than his college girlfriend Danny if he was going to find piper it would be on a zone but the road his investigation lead him down is a dangerous treacherous walk that leads to the past and what he on covers will uncover more than one mystery. I loved this book I thought it was a smart put together mystery and although I thought I knew who was behind it the twist interns were surprising I like that Danny believed in him despite not having seen him in such a long time I just can’t say enough great things about this but I really enjoyed it I thought the characters of a great the mystery was very well put together and the twist interns came in the right moments were not at all overdone a true five story that I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read more about this author this is my first book from him but will not be my last. I received this book from NetGalley and the publisher but I am leaving this review voluntarily please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.
