It's kind of rare that you find a sequel that surpasses the original, but this manages quite well! The story is thick with action, intrigue, magic, politics, battles, and so much more. I do really recommend starting with the first book, so you kind of know what's going on. The character development and world building is stellar. Read the series if you like high fantasy and action!

Thanks again to Netgalley & David Hair for this arc...

1st off, im not finished with the book yet but I wanted to be able to review it( i'm about 2/3 and its reasonably long).

But this is a great book, just like the 1st and the quality of the storing keeps excelling.

The characters are thoughtful, compelling, dont lack depth, and interesting.

The world-building and the mythos behind the settings and history is great, not 1 dimensional and gives perspective on certain characters reactions and beliefs.

If you love a flint locks, magic, and memorable characters...please read, because I know ill ne reading tue 3rd novel.
