A family drama with lots of belly laughing moments. Three siblings get to know more about there mother's life after she has passed. From the moment I started reading I knew I was going to love this book but it has exceeded my expectations. I have never been so enthralled and laughed so much. The characters are certainly entertaining and the plot is well thought out and super hilarious. I loved that there was never a dull minute and I really enjoyed reading the shenanigans on the road trip. I recommend this as a lighthearted and tantalising read.

The Key to Circus-Mom Highway is a riotous road trip full of angst, drama, and hilarity.

Allyson Rice paints pictures with her words. I pictured every scene in this story with vivid realism. From Jesse’s tattoos to Jennifer’s buttoned-up life to Jack’s blue sequined dress, the author uses details of the tale to draw the reader in and hold their attention.

The richly descriptive text pulls readers into the Deep South of the US, where the air is sultry, and life moves to a different cadence. As the three J’s follow the clues to reach their inheritance, they begin to gel into a family unit, whether they want to or not.

I don’t believe in rehashing the book blurb or spoiling the book for anyone. So I’m focusing more on the technical aspects of the story.

The book is well-written, with no noticeable errors. The pacing is fast, driving the plot through each twist and turn toward the grand reveal. The main characters are slowly developed and have distinctive traits that in turn, grate on the nerves and warm the heart.

You can read this book as a humorous escape or study the deeper aspects of abandonment, family dynamics, maturity, and reconciliation. Just make sure you read it.

1 star. This was a long painful read. The plot is the birth mother they never knew dies and leaves weird instructions for the daughters in order to get the inheritance. A road trip ensues, there is a brother they also never knew existed and he is a drag queen in New Orleans. Well, that sounds interesting! Sadly, it was not. The weird chapter setups and the stilted dialogue added to the overall dull and uninteresting plot. I never got to know the characters except superficially so I didn't care what they did or what happened to them. The mother seemed like a whiny piece of work and at the end I really thought they were better off adopted. I always say there is a reader for every book and I was most definitely not the reader for this one. It was a copy for review from #NetGalley but this is my own opinion.

Started out entertaining but by the end it was a chore to finish- the writing deteriorated rapidly and it seemed like the author grasped at any straw to finish it

My view is different from most. I have an adopted child and the mother decided to become involved when she was older. It didn't go well. So reading this book was probably a bad choice. Genetics versus nurture is a topic I am well aware of. The book was entertaining in a circus kind of way but the outcome was just irritating.

This book was sent to me electronically by Netgalley for review. The story is intriguing…two sisters and a family of secrets…a journey…together…looking for answers…the language could be left out…it doesn’t add to the story. In fact, it distracts and is too annoying. Some subject matter too explicit. The title intrigued me…I might have changed it, but it does go with the novel…this author is talented and gifted.

Zany, humorous, wacky, outlandish! I loved this book. Sisters Jennifer and Jesse find out that they were adopted and their parents, who are dead, did not tell them. They are told that their biological mom is dead and in order to collect their inheritance, they will need to jump through some hoops. As they go on a road trip, meeting friends of their mother's along the way, they find a brother and some other very entertaining characters. The author was able to flesh out her characters which allowed me to imagine this road trip in full detail. I am very glad that I picked up this book and hope for more from this author. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Total Human Press Publishing and NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

The Key to Circus-Mom Highway is a book with lots of twists and turns. Jennifer and Jesse are two sisters that believe their parents have died in a car crash. Jack knows he was adopted. All three receive news that their birth mom has died and are are in receipt of large inheritance. Jennifer and Jesse world of their parents is turned upside down. add to it that in order to receive this money, they will need to complete a week journey which they learn that jack is their sibling. They take on this crazy week long get to know your birth mom and its filled with surprises.
Allyson Rice does a great job of showing the emotional tolls life gives everyone. Through it all, all you really need is your close friends and family to feel comfortable and enjoy life.
