ARC From Netgalley.
The lore into some of the characters is finally starting to get deep! Two stories dominate here: Ten of Hearts and Four of Hearts. Obviously the intensity continues to get higher, but I still can't see any end in sight.
NOTE: This series is not for the faint of heart. The situations are very intense and the gore is almost constant.
Highlights:
Four of Hearts - This side story involves a newcomer, Hayato Dodo, whose personal tragedy in his life leads him to be pulled into Borderland. Plunging directly into a game, we get to see the beginnings of Borderland for a new character (previously only seen through the eyes of Arisu). His game involves 5 people on window washer platforms, voting on questions, with both the correct vs incorrect answer AND whether or not you voted the same as the other competitors, plays a factor. At the end of the game, a mysterious player speaks up and he and Dodo help each other complete the game. The stranger reveals that he is Arisu, the main character we know and love.

Ten of Hearts - Picking up where we left off last time, Arisu is on the last day of his visa and is locked down in a room, severely beat up. Usagi is being messed with by some of the perviest of the top guys at the Beach. As she is about to be "used", the whole Beach area gets blocked off and a game begins. "Witch Hunt" is a game where a girl has been murdered and all the residents have 2 hours to find the witch and burn him/her on a pyre out front. As you'd expect, this causes mass hysteria and chaos, everyone blaming others. What you wouldn't guess is that the top people use this as an excuse to murder TONS of people in the hopes that the witch will reveal themselves. The game starts with 66 people and by the time this Volume is done, there are less than 30 left.
Also, Usagi uses the chaos of the game to find and help Arisu, knowing that the two of them must stick together.

I NEED the next Volume! Why stop on such a huge cliffhanger?

You absolutely should be reading this manga... a refreshingly brilliant idea and fantastic story.
High recommend.

This volume was a next adventure in the Borderland series.
I was not as into this one as I had been with the others.

This is such an interesting series. On it's surface it's an interesting blend of science fiction and horror, but it also provides a deeper look at humanity. It does a great job of providing background for all of the characters, not just the main players, to show how the people who have been trapped in this world have evolved for better or worse as they have worked to survive in borderland. The mystery of where they are and how it operates also continues to deepen and makes the reader want to find out more. Can't wait for the next volume in the series.

I adore this series, and this volume continued to live up to the hype!

This review may contain spoilers.

This volume followed the main character who has found the infamous beach that his friends last words brought him to. Upon finding it, he quickly discovered that this was not the answer he was seeking, but once you get welcomed to the beach… there’s no going back. As the games continue, the stakes ramp up as difficulty rises, but it’s either die playing or die running. Which would you choose?

While i enjoyed the other volumes more. most likely due to the characters, i still had a fantastic time reading this one! I couldn’t put it down. I can’t wait for the next one to come out in my province.
Solid 4.5 stars!!

Thank you for the opportunity to read this arc!

It seems survival games and psychological horror are all the rage with live-action adaptations these days. Alice in Borderland is getting a second season, which means time to catch up on the manga in the west! This third omnibus collects the fifth and sixth volumes of the series, which gives the Beach arc an engrossing climax
.
The idyllic paradise of the Beach is in jeopardy as the 10 of Hearts game begins. In this game, titled Witch Hunt, players must find out who killed one of the Beach residents. Simple enough, but since their main leader the Hatter died last time, there’s more than enough paranoia going around. What makes this even more sadistic is the new leader Aguni and his subordinate Last Boss. They decide to kill first, accuse later and go on a rampage, using process of elimination to find the killer.

Meanwhile, Yuzuha Usagi is in a frantic race against time to find Arisu, who was kidnapped in the last volume. While much of the first half has Arisu out of commission, we still see him struggling to stay alive. Will he succumb to the regrets of his past, or will he be murdered by the oncoming slaughter?

What I appreciate about these omnibus releases is that I can get more of the story in one go. The 2-in-1 format is perfect for longer arcs like this one. These chapters sell how Alice in Borderland features an ensemble cast rather than focusing on Arisu himself. While he’s active in the second half, his kidnapping lets other players shine. From Usagi to the executives from the science division, there’s no shortage of awesome supporting characters.

I also liked the inclusion of an earlier Four of Hearts game, which had stakes but was also a breather. Introducing Hayato Dōdō as a new character felt organic as a flashback and fleshed out Hearts games’ sadistic nature. The story takes an action-filled turn into a Battle Royale-esque story, filled with psychological thrills and chills aplenty. I also appreciated the fact that Arisu hasn’t forgotten about his fallen friends, and they appear here too. It’s a nice balance of everything I’d want in a darker manga, and fans of the show should check this one out.

YES. Somehow each volume of this series has managed to feel distinct, while still processing a story. Here we finally get glimpses into how others came to Borderland, and the intrigue only grows. Cannot wait to see the storyline complete. And fans of the live action adaptation will be glad to know it is fantastic and new, while still following the story we know.

A good volume but I also felt that short story in the middle wasn't necessary. It might have served a purpose at the the end of the book as bonus content but interrupting the story's flow made me enjoy the short story less because I just wanted to get back the main story. Maybe a future compilation of just random game scenarios would be cool, though.

This volume follows the events within the Beach after it's declared an arena. Because I've already seen the show, I knew what was going to happen and the TV didn't deviate from the source material much. A solid continuation of the story and I can't wait to finally be able to read what happens after the 10 of hearts game (hopefully in the next volume!).
