I have real interest in this topic but I couldn't get into this book at all.

It's a very academic text and the author has some very unorthodox views (they pretty much compare abattoirs to the Holocaust which may seem like a fair comparison to certain, hardcore vegans but for me it was completely inappropriate).

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for giving me a free digital copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review.

I was expecting a compassionate narrative about elevating the legal status of animals. That’s not what this is. If you’re a militant vegan who enjoys reading dry, unscientific textbooks cluttered with tons of inline citations, then this book is for you.

I stopped reading when the author compared slaughterhouses to the Holocaust and called Temple Grandin a collaborator. DNF at ~10%.

Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.
