I am loving this series of classics read by Gildart Jackson. Each one has a unique feel, even with the common thread of the crackling fire, as he brings the stories to life. He does a great job embracing the spirit of the books and their characters. I highly recommend!

I was interested in reviewing this audiobook because I have listened to Gildart Jackson narrated Fireside series and I am a fan of it, Jungle Book being my favorite thus far. Incidentally, I have been working on reading classic books this year, so it fits me perfectly. Mr. Jackson narrates children's classic fictions with crackling fire in the background. He is animated and engaging, and perfect narrator for the series. A bonus point for this edition is that it comes tinkling bell for Tinker Bell, which was very sweet.

As to the novel itself, one has to take into consideration that it was written over one hundred years ago, and there are descriptions of redskins and insensitive terms which may offend some readers. Also, I am aware that the author J. M Barrie is controversial, and if one is sensitive to problematic personality of creators, one might want to do some research. I decided to take a listen because it's considered a classic, and indeed, it is unique and well-written. I would say it is also for adults as well as for children. Its description of children is honest to say it favorably, and cruel if I am unkind. It made me wonder if Mr. Barrie liked children to begin with. Blunt depictions of nature of children aside, it is very imaginative and fun, and has interesting and familiar characters such as Captain Hook, crocodile with a watch in stomach, Tinker Bell the fairy, and Wendy (and her brothers). I really loved the family dog, and the parents were interesting too. To me, the middle of the book action part sagged a bit, but loved the first part and end part. I enjoyed it a lot.
To me personally, 4 stars for a book and 5 stars for narration, rounded up to 5 stars. Thank you!

Thank you to Dreamscape Media and to NetGalley for an ARC of this book to listen to.

I have listened to several of these Fireside books and I love every one of them. They are just fun to read along with or sit and listen to the story being read to you. The narrator has a wonderfully peaceful voice. I really enjoyed listening to this as I was winding down for the evening. I would recommend these for all audences. I will eventually be buying all of these to add to my collection.

Couldn’t make myself finish. I never realized how creepy this story is! I guess I only ever knew it from the Disney version. Also, racially inappropriate regarding the term redskins. Obviously this was written a very long time ago but it is jarring and you would have to explain it to a child.
As always, narration by Gildart Jackson is flawless but the story is flawed.

I received an early audiobook in exchange for an honest review. I felt the narrator for this book made all the difference from anything I had ever experienced. What a wonderful escape for me.. Ii didn’t remember large parts of this Classic book, especially the last chapter was so much better than what I remember. Maybe I am just looking at it from an adult POV but I loved this audiobook! I think the ending has been more of an implied ending rather than a chapter dedicated to it. Probably never made it that far before. I would definitely recommend this taudiobook to anyone with children for anyone who can relate and being young at heart to listen to this. I listened over a couple of days. Fun escape for me. Thanks to NetGalley, #Dreamscape media,#FiresideReadingOfPeterpan. The narrator made this book sound oh so special.special.
