This was such a well written book! As a psychotherapist myself, such books are of great interest to me and it's not always easy to find technical books that are written so smoothly.

The book content itself was eye-opening at many times, especially the neuroscience approach mostly used in her analysis.

This will definitely not be a book that appeals to the wider scope of readers, but I'd highly recommend it to anyone working in the mental health field, as well as any reader who is more interested in understanding anxiety and how our brain and mind works.

This audiobook is spectacular. I certainly took my time working through it because, as someone with anxiety, sometimes it's tough to explore it. Fortunately, there's no rush and a book/audiobook can always be put down. I feel enriched by the stories of other patients. I feel interested and comforted by the science shared in the book. I know I'll be rereading this book and seeing different things stand out as I grow as a person. Highly recommend this book!

I LOVED this text. I found it to be so illuminating and fascinating. I'm so grateful I got the chance to read this. It's such an important topic and I feel like there is so much misinformation that fluctuates surrounding anxiety and it's causes. Grateful to spend time with this author's insightful and superbly researched perspective. 5/5 stars. Excellent text!

I could not have gotten this book at a better time!

I loved how Efrat Ginot took a serious and complex topic and broke it down in a way we can all understand. Not only that, a majority of what was included in this book sounds like it came from many of the textbook I have on my shelfs, but it was so much easier to digest.

I highly recommend this to anyone that is curious about learning more about anxiety.

Thank You to Efrat Ginot and Tantor Audio, for the audio-digital ARC provided through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review!

We are all anxious beings and this is a fantastic write up on what’s happening when we are anxious and why it can be beneficial!

I like the stories that the author brought in from real life examples. The examples were described and then broken down on how they were relative to the chapter. Although, from a personal standpoint and trying to connect, the stories did make that a little more challenging since I couldn’t relate to all of the details.

This book was a great blend between the technical descriptions of what is going on in the brain (especially in the early years as it is forming and developing) and real world stories. This book peaked my interest working in deep brain stimulation for years and trying to understand the brain and helped to understand where a lot of my own anxiety might stem from. I think the biggest take away was how important the early years can be to development of baseline anxiety, which made me more aware of ways to make small changes that might set my kids up for a less anxious path.

I listened to the audio book - it was well paced but it was a little monotone for an already heavy topic.

Thanks RB Media and NetGalley for the advanced listen!

I really enjoyed this. I spend a lot of time reading books like this as a psychology student and I found this to be textbook quality without the textbook feel. Much of what is included in here I’ve learned in my classes but this brings everything together and makes it fit within the world as it is today. It deals with racism, poverty, Covid - so many things that factor into our mental state or the mental state of others.

I found it very informative and interesting. It held my attention with no problem at all and the narration was fantastic. I received the audio version from NetGalley and it was definitely worth the listen.
