3.5 stars // The “murderer is stalking a group of people in a secluded cabin” theme has definitely been done before, but this book adds a twist that I think is welcome.
I like the two storylines and not knowing how they’re going to meet in the end. Everything was pretty believable, which I appreciated.
Not much happened until the last 25% which was a turn off.

This story has some strong spooky elements: secluded cabin (obviously), creepy spying dude, family secrets and DNA mystery, human bones, etc.
However, there were too many points of view and multiple storyline threads to follow that it became convoluted and hard for me to keep track of or feel connected to.
I wish the author had stuck with the main point of view of Hannah, a mother who I could relate to in some ways, and then built the ominous story from there. Instead, all the POVS and backstories just took away from the original storyline.
The narrator had great intonation to how she read the story, and I enjoyed listening to her read it. There was a peculiar robotic quality to the recording but I became used to it.

Another terrific thriller from Lisa Unger! A slow build-up, but the multiple POVs and the many issues between characters brought suspense to the forefront. Setting and atmosphere help to bring the tension to a boiling point. Fun read!

This was such a great read!! I loved the suspense. The questions. The DNA aspects. It was a slow set up but it really took off and was a fun listen. I was so curious how Henry tied into the story and way role he played with the cabin and the 6 people. I really liked the multiple POV.
I did want more on Bracken because he seemed quite twisted and his story kind of fizzled out. I expected him to be more integral to the story. He was a minor character tho. Just seemed he’d more essential
I thought it was a great page turner nonetheless & the narration was great!

I received a free digital ARC from Sourcebooks Landmark via NetGalley. Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six
is set in a luxury cabin in the woods. The story is about three couples who rent a luxury cabin in the woods for a restful weekend getaway. However, this restful getaway turns into a terrifying weekend. I found myself rooted to my seat waiting to see how this story would end. I was excited and happy to read this ARC and delighted for the opportunity to review this title.

This was super creepy and kept me on the edge of my seat. I listened to the audiobook and it was terrific. I have decided that I really love thrillers in the audiobook format. Especially when there is an amazing narrator like this one.

A luxurious, secluded cabin in the woods, a creepy host, a raging storm, and ghosts…..what could possible go wrong? I forgot to add donor insemination and dna tests. Sounds like this plot could get complicated? it was…but Lisa Unger pulled off a great thriller. The storyline follows six friends who set off on a weekend getaway and find themselves the target of murder and mayhem. The narrator did a wonderful job and gave the cast of characters unique personalities without the use of gimmicky voices. This was a great listen!

I liked the idea of fsther by insemination ... but it wasn't the main piece of the plot and that was disappointing.

I was looking forward to this book, which promised to incorporate DNA testing (unique premise) with an airbnb-type vacation rental. It started off interesting, but it didn't deliver as well as I'd hoped. It was a "good" book, but not a "great" book. It was a bit redundant and there were loose ends that didn't quite get tied up.

“Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six” is another killer thriller from Lisa Under! I was looking for drama, suspense, and thrill, and she delivered. A must read!

Really enjoyed listening to this title. It was hard at times to stay up with who's related to who, but by the end of the book Unger wraps it up neatly. This had me guessing at what would happen almost right from the beginning. This is sure to be a popular title!

Because who doesn’t love a locked-room mystery, right??
Lisa Unger continues to shine in her newest thriller SECLUDED CABIN SLEEPS SIX, which will keep you up it into the wee hours of the night furiously turning the pages, raging to find out everyone’s secrets, and who is our mysterious stranger lurking outside…..and how it all comes together in the end.
Lisa never lets her readers down, and I found this one so much fun! I haven’t read a thriller with DNA testing so heavily influenced in the plot before and I thought that made it really unique!

What starts as a luxurious getaway for three couples quickly becomes a nightmare when a creepy landlord and fraying friendships come together on a nightmare weekend. The getaway is a birthday gift to Hannah from her brother, so the siblings. their spouses and another couple head off for a their weekend in the country. A looming storm, the creepy landlord and a personal chef who shares the very grim history of their beautiful rental cabin make this one of Unger’s best thrillers yet

Dependable, forever designated driver, mom friend and now stay-at-home mom, Hannah, goes on vacation with her rowdy, troublemaker brother, their spouses, and a couple of friends in a secluded cabin in the woods. She never wanted to go, got a bad vibe from the get-go, but she goes because no one can refuse her brother. She realizes way too late that none of them should have gone to the cabin.
This book wasn't bad. It had some twists, broody, not always reliable characters. However, it had way too much going on. There were too many characters with too much going on. It came together in the end, but it was so messy throughout that I was left dissatisfied. It just felt too chaotic and not in a good thriller kind of way. I wish the author would have paired things down a bit, cut at least one of the points of view.
I wouldn't really recommend this unless you enjoy and can keep track of a massive amount of characters with several story lines that don't seem to have anything in common until the end. If you do read it, I would highly recommend the audiobook. The narration is wonderful, and I'd have been even more lost without the narration.
