This was such an interesting book! Although, I have to admit, the near-future descriptions of an anti-foreigner, completely fascist, and authoritarian America were depressing as hell.

After Adéla gets a terminal diagnosis in Prague, she makes a trip to America to find the daughter she gave up years before. And then it's a wild ride that goes back and forth between Adéla's future and past when she lived in America briefly in the 80s, and starred in a cult sci-fi film.

The bulk of the book in the future is Tereza (her daughter) and Roman (her son), trying to find Adéla and bring her home, against the backdrop of a secretive biotech company, the wasteland that Florida has become, and the allure of creating immortality. It was a really interesting and engaging read. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC of this unique and thought-provoking book!
