Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.

Having not long finally got her house renovations complete on the house that she and her boyfriend at the time bought, Billie us happy that it’s just how she wanted it and looking forward to enjoy her first Christmas in it. Or will she!!

Her mother and sister move for Christmas, after that, her Dad and his wife come to stay.

So that she doesn’t have to spend much time with them, she joins a dating app and signs up to a number of festive events. She meets Rocco and they get on well straightaway. But Billie thinks that he just wants to be friends.

Portia MacIntosh’s books are fabulous reads and they make me laugh.

Highly recommended this book.

Thanks to Netgalley for letting me reading this book in advance. This is the first time of reading a book by Portia MacIntosh and I'm sold! It was cute and interesting story. I loved her writing style and it wasn't boring at all! I really enjoyed it and I can't wait to read her other books :)

I absolutely loved this so much. I was not expecting a holiday romance couse I went to this blind but was so trascinated to read this. I live Portia MacIntosh romances and this was a great one.

Dating after a while and after having a serious realtionship is not easy in your 30s but this was so fun. I loved the family that was disfuncional that I usually do not. I liked also the neighbour that in mc eyes was not nice. And then having a full house before christmass it was logical move to escape that. And that escaped were dates and I loved eachone of them.

Everything is not like it seems. I reccomend this friends to lovers holiday romance.

Thank you Boldwood books and Netgalley for this opportunity.

Reading about Christmas in the height of summer feels wrong. Perhaps at a different time, this wouldn’t seem so bad. I’m prepared to give it the benefit of the doubt regarding setting.
This was touted as a comedy…there was nothing very funny about this. Moments such as the sabotaging speed dating might have been mildly funny, but the other attempts at humour were thin attempts to veil how much of a doormat our character is.
Billie is meant to be a teacher. It’s mentioned at the start of the book to explain how much she’s looking forward to her holiday. However, put her in front of living breathing teenagers and she’d be eaten alive!
Having had her boyfriend leave her with a mortgage to pay and a house renovation to complete, you might expect Billie to have made more of an effort to tighten up her situation. No. In fact, she buries her head and makes no effort to contact him. But when he drunkenly lets himself into her house and tries to get back with her she lets him stay for Christmas!
With her mother and sister inviting themselves for the holiday and taking over the house this shouldn’t be a surprise. When her dad (who she barely sees) has a plumbing disaster and invites himself and his new wife, it’s clear Billie is not the kind of character who stands up for herself.
Rather than tell her selfish relatives to sort themselves out, she hides away by joining a dating app. Cue the ‘comedy’ scenarios she finds herself in, as she finds her own Christmas romance.
By the time this ended, I can’t say I know what to make of it. Are there really people who would behave this way? Is there an alternate world where this scenario would be seen as a ‘cute comedy’ moment? If so, I’m kind of glad I don’t get it.

Billie is planning a nice quiet Christmas by herself in her newly renovated house, unfortunately she gets anything but when her mum, sister, dad and his wife and her ex boyfriend all turn up needing sanctuary after various emergencies. How will it all work out ?
A fab fun festive read

I can always rely on Portia to make me chuckle and throw in a Christmas read and we are on to a winner.

Portia's writing is so easy to read and there hasn't been a single book I've not enjoyed.

Billie was a wonderful character and her house sounded like a dream home. I loved the relationship that built between her and her new friends and was so proud of her putting herself outside her comfort zone.

Another amazing 5⭐️ read from Portia.

The fake dating trope gets me again! This book was funny, engaging, and definitely steamy. This book is perfect for fans of Tessa Bailey or Colleen Hoover, definitely had those vibes throughout the plot to me.

Another enjoyable Portia Macintosh read! Just Date and See is a super cute Christmas movie, filled with the usual mayhem that Christmas brings, plus some extra chaos.

The story is fun, the pace is perfect and I laughed multiple times in this book. Portia Macintosh's humour seems to match my own, and I always end up finding her books entertaining!

I liked Rocco, he was a total cutie in an almost too-good-to-be-true way. The little plot twist at the end had me laughing again, and cringing at the awkwardness at the same time.

Overall, I really enjoyed this read! It's the perfect Christmas rom-com!

Billie is hoping for a nice quiet Christmas at home, but she ends up with a house full of family. This even includes her estranged father and his wife. To escape, she embarks on a set of singles events. This is where she meets Rocco…

I loved this book! Then again, I have not read a book by this author that I did not enjoy. This book did not have as much romance as I would’ve liked, but it was a great book about family and healing past hurts. There are a lot of funny moments in this book and the author weaves some misunderstandings and also some revelations throughout. It is just the perfect blend.

Thanks to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for this ARC! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is a Christmas Romance about Billie, who is swearing off men for the holiday. Her husband has recently left her shortly after they purchased a fixer-upper, and she is determined to have a lovely quiet Christmas holiday. Things do not go as planned, and now, she has a full house and, although sworn off by men, has a calendar full of singles get-togethers for December. I like the calamity of the whole book. She is an organized and neat person, so of course, her mom comes over and makes a mess in the kitchen. She has not really spoken to her father, and they’re not close, so of course, he and his new wife come and say with her for Christmas. She has sworn off men but falls into bed with Rocco on Christmas eve. It just made me think of that phrase when we plan, God laughs. I like that this book mixed up a usually very ridge person and gave her reasons to laugh, smile, and fall in love.

I just reviewed Just Date and See by Portia MacIntosh. #JustDateandSee #NetGalley

With the Christmas holiday just around the corner, Billie is ready to enjoy a quiet Christmas in her newly renovated home. Her Mom is staying with her for a bit, but otherwise she is ready to get cozy and be at home. When a few more house guests appear she knows she needs to find a way to spend some time away from her "loved ones." Pushing herself out of her comfort zone, she attends several singles' events that remind her how much fun it can be to try new things even in your hometown. I loved the holiday feel and the realistic family dynamics that still held plenty of humor and outlandish situations. This is a great story and one that I will want to read every year!

As always, the new Portia MacIntosh is a treat... and a Christmas present in August ;)

I took me some time to review this book as it really hit so close to home. I could be Billie, the main character, so kind and accepting of so many BS from her family while she was planning a nice holiday with her mum in her newly renovated house.

To escape this mess, she signs up for dating events during which she meets lovely Rocco who is exactly what she needs.

It's so funny, and sometimes makes you cringe as you feel so bad for Billie. I wish this book was longer to see how things unfold for everyone.

Thank you to Netgalley and Boldwood Books for providing an eARC in exchange of an honest review.

Every Portia Macintosh story resonates with me, each in a different way. She really captures the essence of what makes a rom com terrific with well drawn and interesting characters and settings that I can see so clearly from her descriptions. Well done!

Love love love it!

The main character Billie is looking forward to a peaceful man-free Christmas. It begins with her mum staying with her, and ends with having a very long list of people to even her neighbour she barely knew or liked at the beginning all at the Christmas table by the end!

So of course to get away from this maddest she says she has so many plans. It just so happens that the dating app she is on, recommends a week of singles nights in her area. So she is very desperate to get away from everyone including her immature ex.

With all the drama going on and non-parent-traps, a neighbour having a thing with her sister, her divorced parents under the same roof alongside his new wife and both of them seeming to get on better than ever it is no wonder she takes a leap on the singles events.

Oh my god. The adventures they go on and some of the hilarious laugh-out-loud moments that occur on these events had me physically laughing and smiling. As well as guessing what is about to happen just by the title of some of the later on events where just hilarious!

It does not matter if it is currently not Christmas this novel will have you in the mood for a light hearted funny read.

This may not be the exact quiet lonesome Christmas Billie had planned from events such as the Disco bowling, Boozy Bingo, Eiffel Tower events but she most definitely has romance on the horizon whether she admits it to herself or not.

The only, and only element i disliked was Billie’s denial towards her feelings of Rocco. She kept saying she has no feelings and then inside her thoughts she shows she does have feelings. Just, why lie?

She put it out there they are buddies so of course he will follow her lead.

Overall, excellent writing style with loving characters full of personality.

Thank you to the publishers for sending me this novel in exchange for my honest review.

This was my second Portia Macintosh book and it was just as good as the first. I can't wait to re read this one during the Holiday season. The characters were so sweet and lovely. I really felt like I knew them and were rooting for them both all along

A cute Christmas rom Com. This is an easy read that will make you laugh. The characters are fun and there are a few twists at the end that you won't expect

I read this book as an ARC, and based on the cover and title, I was excited to read it. Once I started, it didn’t grab my attention the way other ones I’ve read have, and it took me several days of starting and stopping to get through. It was a cute book, but i didn’t feel attached to any of the characters, which is really necessary for me to enjoy a book. Would I say skip this one? No. But I would say not to go into it expecting greatness.
