This book was cute! I was laughing from the first chapter to the end.

I knew from the first introduction to Rocco that I would love him, and I was right. Such a gentleman 😍

The only thing I will say is I wish this book was dual POV and that the twist at the end happened earlier in the book.

Overall, this was cute and I will definitely be reading another book by Portia!

As soon as you read that the heroine, Billie, is looking forward to a very quiet Christmas vacation with just her mother coming to stay for a few days and that she loves the way she’s refurbished her house, you know that it’s not going to be a quiet vacation. Instead, there is almost a nightmarish feeling as more members of her family, some quite unwanted, plus a very much unwanted ex-boyfriend come to stay.

So Billie decides to go to a bunch of singles events in her town as arranged by a dating app. Most of the events end up going badly, but she does get to meet Rocco who seems like a dream.

I would have liked more of her interactions with Rocco instead of reading about her rather irritating family.

Even though I knew that she was going to get her HEA, it just stressed me out a bit to read about all these unwanted guests and how her vacation kept getting more and more disrupted.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.

always feels funny reading a book set at Christmas time in the middle of summer and this was no different given we were in the middle of a heat wave.

Billie has recently completed the renovations on the house that her and her then boyfriend had bought. It’s perfect and exactly how she envisaged - now to relax and enjoy her first Christmas in it. Or not!!! First her mum and sister move in for the Christmas break, then her Dad and his new wife appear and it’s all Billie can do not to scream! To avoid having to spend too much time with her family, Billie signs up to a series of festive events organised by a dating app. Here she meets Rocco and hits it off with him immediately. However she thinks he only wants to be friends.

I find all of Portia MacIntosh’s books to be excellent reads and love that they make me laugh out loud. I lost count of the amount of times this book had me in fits of laughter. Highly recommended.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced read copy of this book in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

This was a cute romcom and an easy read. I did get a bit bored in the middle and had to push myself to keep going. All the twists and turns at the end were fun though.

Portia MacIntosh is the queen of cheeky, Christmas stories!

Just Date and See was a refreshing look on Christmas. I felt the idea was super fun- a school teacher expecting a quiet week off for the holiday, until her crazy family turns her plans upside down. Mix in using a dating app as a means to keep her away from all the disfunction, and I am all in! You will literally find yourself laughing out loud as Billie finds herself in some of the most hilarious and uncomfortable circumstances.

I have been spoiled!!! I was allowed to read both of Portia MacIntosh’s two Christmas books released this year on NetGalley! Single All the Way and Just Date and See were both fantastic! In fact, I would go as far to say that MacIntosh is a master of her craft.

MacIntosh manages to create spectacular worlds filled with relatable and well rounded characters. She keeps her chapters on the shorter side, which allowed me to devour her work! I cannot wait to get my hands on all of her books!

Special thanks to NetGalley.com and Boldwood Books for allowing me to read this book in exchange for my honest feedback.

Billie is looking for a quiet Christmas at the family home, but her mother, sister, neighbour, ex-partner and friend found through a dating site, means that it is anything but.
I love the way this author always introduces a couple of random events. Here Billie gatecrashes a couples first date and inadvertently goes to a sex party.
There is humour on every page and everything is brilliantly tied up at the finish, with a couple of turn of events that I never saw coming.
A consistently excellent author.

Another really wonderful story by Portia MacIntosh. It is fun, has lots of laugh out loud moments in it and some really lovely romantic moments in it. It's such a fun book, that will make you smile from ear to ear. Loved it.

Billie has to navigate finding romance over Christmas. To avoid her family, she decides to go on lots of group date activities where she befriends Rocco. Can their fake relationship lead to something more? A festive, romantic read. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for letting me review this book.

All Billie wants is a simple, quite Christmas at her new house but she's in for a treat when people including her family members AND ex show up.
And this is once again a hilarious Christmas romcom at its best. I loved the holiday small town setting.

Billie was surrounded so much chaos that how both humorous & exhausting.
I adored the relationship with Rocco & the silly misunderstanding at the end. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a good laugh.

Warm & Funny - left me wanting more

This book was witty and untraditional in the way that protagonist hooks up with her love interest. This felt like a novella and not in a bad way at all. I felt like I burned through this book pretty quickly!

It took awhile, but it was well worth the wait. I was in for a spin at the end, but my heart was wholesome and happy.

I enjoyed the premise of this book - that it can be hard to be single around your family members during the holiday season and having things to do can be helpful. The story was enjoyable, and resulted in a few out-loud laughs. However, the story did seem to lag for the first 2/3 of the book and then tried to haphazardly pack multiple character plot resolutions into the last 1/3. Different than a slow burn, this felt like opportunities were missed earlier in the book to either speed up the development or reduce the number of story lines that would need to be taken care of as the book wrapped up. I appreciated the opportunity to read it!

This was a cute romcom but I really did not care for the family dynamic. It was persistently tense and it made it hard for me to even focus on those parts. The romantic storyline was top tier though!
I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own

Christmas has come early this year!!!! 🎅🏻🎅🏻🎅🏻 Oh how I am in the Christmas spirit now after reading this book! The warm, Christmassy feeling I got from this book was delicious 😍 Like Billie, I’m also a teacher, and that last day of term before Christmas is just the best!! Going home to a warm house, double dinner and knowing you’ve got two glorious weeks off is one of the best feelings!!

I loved Billie’s mum and sister, they were both utterly hilarious, but I did feel sorry for Billie when her much longed for quiet Christmas slowly drifted away in front of her eyes. But she made the most of it and I loved the Mingle All The Way events idea, and seeing Billie and Rocco become partners in crime. I was rooting for them to become a couple the whole way through.

As always with Portia’s books, there were plenty of laugh out loud moments. One of my personal favourites was the bingo situation 🤣🤣🤣 that one really had me laughing!!

This book is fun and feel good and a perfect festive read. It just have everything from the romance to the comedy to that family feel. A huge five stars from me!!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

All Billie wants for Christmas is a quiet Christmas with her Mum in her brand new, finished house but then when her sister and her estranged dad and his wife show up rather unannounced, she needs to find some way to keep herself busy and out of the house so she finds herself going to a bunch of “Matcher” dating app events to keep herself busy. Where she meets Rocco. Suddenly she has a whole new reason to want to be out of the house.

I thought this book was super cute! I was weary going into it as I haven’t had a ton of luck with the ARCs I’ve been reading lately but I really enjoyed this one and found myself reading it all in a couple of sittings.

The story flowed very well and the concept kept me interested. I adored Billie and felt sorry for her and her circumstances but thought wow, this woman is one hell of a pushover. It was frustrating to see her family constantly taking advantage of this but I guess that means it was written well!

I liked her relationship with Rocco and the friends to lovers element there and enjoyed seeing how their story unfolded. Was glad not to have a “break up” nearing the end but instead it was a simple misunderstanding that was cleared up quickly. Refreshing to say the least.

Fun, interesting and easy to read! I really enjoyed this book.

Closed Door Romance

💭Overall Thoughts
The premise for this book was fun. Billie goes to these social events from a dating app to avoid the chaos in her home over the holidays. There were definitely some laugh-out-loud moments! PSA: Playing a song titled "Freak Me" is no way to seduce ANYONE 😂 My heart went out to Billie, she had to put up with so much!

❤️What I loved
Billie and Rocco were great together, and while her sister Jess has her flaws, I thought their relationship was sweet. Jess can be selfish, but she always had Billie's back. The dates and friends made along the way were definitely my favorite part of the story--I would totally go to boozy bingo and disco bowling!

💔What I didn't love
This book had a very slow start. It wasn't until about 55% in that the dates started and we finally met Rocco. I wish more of the book had been focused on the dating scene the way the title and blurb hint at. Instead, it was a lot more about Billie's family.

But at the end, everything was wrapped up beautifully which made up for the slow start.

Thank you Boldwood Books and Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
