This is my second book from this author and i liked this one better.
Obviously I loved the family drama. After all the secrets that were going around I was so not ready for the twists. Let’s say I was quite surprised.

Billie’s character was lovable. Her heart was made of gold and she handled her crazy family in a such a good way.

I loved the Christmas feeling in the middle of August. I liked the idea of dating app and the set ups of ‘blind dates’ before the holiday.
I wasn’t entirely invested in the story, sometimes it felt flat and I wanted more romance in it. But let’s say the family soap opera gave me some good time. Even though the story ended so quickly after the secrets got out. I think there were still some unresolved issues that I wanted to see how developed in the characters life but the epilogue came. It was still enjoyable though. So that’s as it.

Thanks to Netgalley for the arc!

This book is a light and funny read. Perfect for curling up on the sofa with a cup of tea. The storyline is funny with some hilarious twists and turns. The characters are likeable and each have their own drama.
This book would be such a funny movie!
This is the first book I've read by Portia MacIntosh but I will definitely be reading more! Thank you to Portia MacIntosh, NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Who doesn’t love a Christmas comedy in the middle of summer (and a heat wave to boot)?

Billie is planning a quiet Christmas in her newly renovated house. However as more and more unexpected visitors start crowding her space, she is desperate for a way out. So she signs up for a series of dating events in her town.

There she meets Rocco, who she tries to friend zone for absolutely no good reason. Luckily not much success there, cause c’mon, you don’t friend zone a hot dude you met on an event for singles!

What I really loved about this story was the witty writing and a lot of good comedy. The dating events were a perfect basis for awkward moments and situational humor and it was brilliantly executed. I was laughing out loud and that’s what I need from my books.

The love story is sweet, so no spice. Still nice, but the “com” part of “rom-com” is what steals the show.

Thank you NetGalley and Boldwood Books for sending me this book in exchange for an honest review.

Billie is a teacher on her Christmas break looking forward to a man-free Christmas in her finally completed house that she bought with her ex. After her family all gradually and unexpectedly descend upon her house, she finds an excuse to get out in the form of a dating app that has an option to “feel brave” and add all the dating social events to her calendar.

I really enjoyed the characters in this book and the subplot of what was happening with her divorced parents. Although a lot was nicely predictable, I didn’t see the Gail/Rocco part coming and it made for a good plot twist. Overall a lovely Christmas romcom with that feel good factor that I crave. I’ll definitely be hunting down more of Portia Macintosh’s books

A quick and easy read that I found myself picking up after a long day to unwind. The characters are beautifully written and I came to love them within the first few pages and was rooting for them all the way to the end. At times I wanted to stop reading because I just wanted the experience to go on for longer.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Oh my goodness, please tell me why I have not read anything by this author before? This book was brilliant and I clearly now have to binge all her back list.

In this book we meet Billie, she is a school teacher who is happily living her best single life, she has no intentions to meet anyone or get into a relationship any time soon. Well, we all know what happens to good intentions!!

Due to different circumstances throughout her family she ends up with a full house over the holiday period, this is not what she planned and because she had to get out of there she found herself in some really funny situations, like seriously laugh out loud situations, though from these she came across Rocco and decided to make him her friend.

Rocco was a lovely guy, visiting her town over the holiday season, they had so much fun together winding each other up with some funny banter.

Billie is a strong independent woman who loves being by herself but sadly hates saying no, hence the houseful.

I loved the storyline in this book, I thought it was very unique and it definitely kept me hooked right from the start. Great characters in a great setting.

Definitely recommend to all, also I’d grab her other books too.

Billie is single for the holidays and decides to sign up for a week of dating ("matcher") events - it's a good thing too because all of a sudden, her divorced parents, step mother, sister, AND ex-boyfriend have shown up for the holidays. Thank goodness she can get away and meet Rocco - who makes the events a little more fun for her.

This is the first book that I read from Portia MacIntosh and the only reason why I knocked it from a 5 star to 4 star rating is because her writing style is not my favorite. I love the story that she created, the eclectic mix of characters, and I kept going between swooning over the building chemistry between Rocco & Billie to chuckling at the insanity that was ensuing with the "family".

It's a very cute story and will be enjoyable by those that want a good laugh at a holiday scenario that is quite relatable - I also love that she ended the book feeling like there could be another Billie & Rocco adventure. Even if there isn't a second book, it's easy to imagine what could happen...

Thank you Boldwood Books and Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for my 100% honest review!

Really enjoyed the story of a modern day family at its finest!
Great read, couldn't put it down, not overly Christmassy!

This one just didn't do it for me, unfortunately. The pacing was off - I felt like I was watching a ping pong match. Some of the chapters left me feeling exhausted because there was so much going on. And, even though it felt like there was a lot going on, it also felt like nothing was happening. Very confusing energy. Perhaps this just isn't the story style for me.

I LOVE a Portia MacIntosh book! You know you'll always leave happy, giggly and ready for another new one, hopefully soon.

This was no exception, I loved Billie and her adventures. I loved the pacing of this book, the characters are loveable and relatable and all in all another winner from Portia MacIntosh!

A really fun novel. I was taken by the main character Billie though I sort of wished she’d lose her temper as her family and those around her put upon her good nature.
I loved the sisterly relationship she has with her sibling Jess and enjoyed some of the situations she gets herself into (particularly the bingo date)
A great summer holiday read for me even if the theme was Christmas.

Thanks to netgalley and publishers for the ARC of this book.

Fabulous story, got totally lost in this story, very well written and throughly enjoyed reading it. I could imagine this happening in real life and it made me laugh out loud on many occasions, will definitely recommend to friends and family.

This book provided by Netgalley in exchange for a review was a humorous book about dealing with family through the holidays. Billie has just remodeled her home and recovered from the loss of her partner leaving her and plans on a quiet Christmas, when her life becomes a comedy of errors. Both of her divorced parents, her sister, and her ex end up needing a place to stay and come to crash at her place. Needing to escape their craziness Billie jumps into an online dating app and agrees to go to every event where she meets a variety of fun characters and you guessed it a love interest, Rocco. This book hit whiny instead of witty maybe a few more times than I would have liked, but in the end it was entertaining.

This was such a cute holiday rom-com!! It had me laughing out loud and I couldn’t put it down! The characters were charming and I really love where this story went! I love Portia Macintosh’s writing style. Witty and adorable. This needs to be on your holiday reading list!

Nothing sounds better to Billie than a quiet Christmas season alone in her newly renovated house. She’s thrown for a loop and then some when, one by one, her family shows up with a reason to stay until the new year. Thinking to use any excuse to seem unavailable, she accepts all seasonal singles events on her dating app.

This book had a couple of laugh out loud moments for me. But the warm family and new friend moments were what really drew me in. A sweet, funny, hopeful holiday story I think readers will enjoy.

🎄Who doesn’t love Christmas? Who doesn’t love a good romcom? So a Christmas themed rom com makes perfect sense! ❤️

👧🏽 The characters are so relatable - I identified with Billie so much! The juggling act of loving your own space and autonomy, but also loving family, and Christmas and companionship. One paragraph where she almost empties her mish mash of thoughts from her full brain onto the page was just so me!

🎞 🍿 The family dynamics were amusing and the comedy style was almost a bit slapstick at times. I could really visualise the scenes the author described as if I was watching a film.

📖 This book is easy to read, quick to read and will leave you smiling 😊

Extremely addictive and completely unputdownable. Once I was sucked in, there was no chance of getting out until I read the last page.

Just Date and See is a very skilfully written story and I read it in one sitting: I didn't want it to end. The reader will immediately warm to Billie, a perfect central protagonist, and will be rooting for her on every page. Portia Macintosh takes us on a fun ride, with with surprises and laughter at every turn. Thoroughly enjoyable. I can't wait for her next one.

This was my first book by the author so I wasn't sure what to expect. Overall I was kind of disappointed and bored. The beginning of the book was super slow and frustrating. Billie's family was super annoying and all her interactions with them annoyed me. I felt like she was a pushover never standing up for herself. I liked Rocco. I wish the book had been more focused on Billie and Rocco's relationship instead of feeling like it was all about her family. There were a lot of slow parts that I could have done without that I skimmed. The book had cute moments, namely the events she went to with Rocco.
