This romance has great reviews on Goodreads, so I was looking forward to it, but the main characters were a bit off for me. There were some things said that seemed a bit outdated, but it was enjoyable to read about a female NASA engineer and her goals of becoming an astronaut. Perhaps if I'd read this before the trend of women in STEM in romance happened, then I would have enjoyed it more.

I enjoyed it but also there is a few books similar`to this now - I appreciate putting women main characters into STEM jobs but some of the books tend to be one and the same. I think it was enjoyable though 100%.

This is a good book. The two main characters are Jackie and Flynn. Jackie is super smart and is an engineer at NASA. Flynn owns a business that restores vintage cars. They meet in a bar while Flynn’s sister has a party because she just turned 21. There is an instant attraction. They go out on a date. Flynn is working on repairing Jackie’s car when he hides it so he can pick her up and take her places. They have trust issues but together they work them out and fall in love.

What a fun read this was, I devoured it in less than a day.

Jackie is a genius engineer who works for NASA. She has been very focused on her career and the path to get to her dream job, and has put any considerations for a social life, friends or a sex life aside. She doesn’t read people or situations very well but is a great engineer.

Flynn comes from a very wealthy family but runs his own business as a mechanic down the road from the NASA base in Houston.

Jackie and Flynn don’t get off on the best foot as Flynn thinks Jackie is another of his sister’s (Rose) terrible freeloading friends and Jackie thinks Flynn is rude and grumpy. Obviously the tables turn and they are hot and adorable together.

There’s talk of the loss of a parent(s) and cheating (both in the past). And a lot of cars and engineering/space talk but I enjoyed it. I’m always on the lookout for books with women in STEM (as I am one myself).

I also enjoyed the supporting characters and look forward to seeing them in their own books. There is a chapter of book 2 at the end of this one that follows a female astronaut we meet in book 1, it looks like it’s going to be a similarly great read.

What a good book! What a pleasant surprise!
I didn't expect I would get so invested and involved in Jackie and Flynn's romance. But after the initial 30%, I just couldn't put it down.
It's funny, it's sensitive, it's touching in many ways. It is extremely intelligent and well written.

I loved Jackie, she has the mind of Sheldon Cooper with the body (and also intelligence) of Felicity Smoak from Arrow.
I also loved her friendship with Jules, Trish and Rose and I have already put all the following books in the series on my TBR because I really want to read them all, their dynamics are everything, I laughed so hard in every interaction.

And what about the epilogue? What a stunningly beautiful epilogue. I loved it!

They were almost 5 stars in the rating, but 4.5 will be, because I found the spicy scenes a little repetitive and I think it lacked a little more dirty talk and naughtiness. I also found the scenes that delved into NASA a bit monotonous because as my native language is not English, terms were very difficult to understand and translate, so it made the reading boring. But that doesn't take away from the fact that the book is good and keeps you in the narrative until the end.

3.5 ☆

This one was super cute. I liked Jackie as a character, although the 'intelligent Victoria secret model type in glasses' can be a little cliché. I honestly think the relationship she had with Rose and Trish was more meaningful and enjoyable than the one with Flynn, but that may only be because I wasn't a big fan of him. Also, I hate the 'looks like they were kissing someone from a distance' trope. The overall plot was good and I'm glad Jackie was able to be a total boss throughout the book.

I just discovered Sara Hudson this year and I've enjoyed reading her backlog. I loved the astronaut/cowboy relationship. Jackie is a hottie whose main focus is science. Jackie is a smarty pants and she's been taken advantage of before and she's afraid to go to get out there.

Flynn is also recovering from a bad breakup with a gold digger.

This is not sure a story of Flynn being head over heels and Jackie catching up. This was super cute, super dramatic and sexy

I hope this is a series. Looking forward to more.

Unfortunately I just can’t finish this one. The story had potential but unfortunately the author’s writing style just wasn’t doing it for me. It was a struggle getting as far as I did. I enjoyed some parts but the parts that bothered me outweighed the parts that didn’t.

I’m giving this 3 stars because the author definitely has an audience and there are others who will enjoy this more than me.

So when I started this, it had potential! I liked the cute science references and how much she loved space and got excited over it.

But this book just seemed very… wattpad? It was very cliche and had the worst trope “she’s not like other girls” like I understand, she’s super smart and is really into science but it was just too much. Like yes she doesn’t wear dresses, or heels and is completely useless with guys. But it was overused and just written really badly.

Then of course his ex was described as a “barbie” who hurt him a lot and had Botox and used him for his money

I feel it was clearly stated she was a nerd, she would ramble about nerdy things and get excited over it but when the characters basically treated being a nerd as a bad thing, it was just unnecessary. And when she feared he was going to think she was a nerd because of her space ceiling… I nearly threw my kindle… like I think he already knows this..

There was some cute moments and I did laugh and fish over some scenes but Honesty, the plot wasn’t really there, I preferred it when they broke up and I liked her character a lot more after.

Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for allowing me to read this arc in exchange of my honest review.

I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book, provided by Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Oh my gosh. This book has one of the best Grand Gestures. Not sure if it's better than Ethan's in Isn't She Lovely, but it's up there! Jackie works at NASA and has dreams of being an astronaut. Flynn is a rich kid shunning his family wealth and making his way in the world, happily, as a mechanic. When they meet, Flynn is almost immediately attracted to Jackie, but Jackie is so oblivious. It's really funny watching Flynn navigate dating a literal genius. And I mean literal as an adjective on "Jackie" not on the "genius."

This story made me all gooey inside. I loved how Flynn loved Jackie. The way he thought about her, talked to her, everything. Even when she didn't understand what he was trying to do, you could see understand what he felt. But when Jackie actually is on the cusp of achieving her dream, and the big crisis happens, I honestly wondered how Flynn was going to fix it. But he did, and it was pretty epic.

I want to read the rest of this series because I enjoyed this book so much! Sexy times, so definitely 18+

I loved this book! The writing is similar to that of Ali Hazelwood's writing with lots of science and spice mixed in and I'm all for it. This romcom had a little bit of something for everyone...science, romance, vintage cars and cowboys.

"NASA engineer Dr. Jackie Darling Lee is a genius about many things... the male species is not one of them.

Then a little friendly blackmail from a co-worker has Jackie walking into a Texas saloon ready to initiate Operation Social Life. After making friends with her waitress and helping a drunk country beauty get home safely, she thinks she’s off to a good start.

Secret billionaire Flynn West left his family’s rich ranching life behind after discovering his girlfriend’s gold digging ways. Now he specializes in vintage muscle car restorations in his own shop in Houston. He’s taken women off his radar, until a wild-haired blonde drags his drunk little sister through his front door. The moment he sees those thick, black-framed glasses on that slender nose, Flynn’s captivated.

But in the midst of the International Space Station being threatened and old flames reappearing, can Jackie and Flynn let go of old hang-ups long enough to reach the end of their Happily Ever After countdown?"

First of all, thank you Victory Editing Netgalley co-op and Sarah L. Hudson for kindly gifting me this book in exchange for an honest review!

Although this book was long (600 pages), I found that it captivated me throughout. The attention to detail showcased how much of an amazing Author Sarah L. Hudson is!!!

It was a steamy romance that was foretold so well and I liked the tropes used in this book! I especially loved the ending. Needless to say, I'll certainly read more books by this Author. 🙌🙌

This was like if The Big Bang Theory (the series) was actually funny and the main characters were likable (also if it was a romance). I loved it. The funniest and the most interesting contemporary I’ve read in a while.

***

Jackie Darling Lee not only has a cool name but also a cool job at NASA. There are still a couple things on her to-do list though, like, become an astronaut, get a social life, etc. Then, she’s blackmailed into going out and she unknowingly starts working on both of those items on her list.

Maybe I liked this book a lot because it doesn’t try so hard to have a gimmick. It just has great leads and a cute story and lets them do their magic. Jackie was a great fmc : smart, confident in her abilities and knowledge, if a bit socially awkward. Flynn was an unforgettable mmc because he wasn’t at all an alphahole even though he had the makings of one. It swooned when Flynn got Jackie to text him back by sending her annoyingly wrong informative texts like : the moon landing was a hoax.

I loved the friendship between the 3 (+1 absentee) women. Side characters were delightful. Especially Rose (I can’t wait to read her book -and honestly all the others). It means so much that when Jackie was having problems with Flynn, Rose didn’t try to push them back together, giving them time to sort things out by themselves and being there for Jackie as her friend and not Flynn’s sister.

I think I’m half in love with the women of Sara L Hudson. Like I said, I’m already itching to read their novels and get inside their heads (especially Rose’s). The men are not too shabby either.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the author for providing me with a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

LOVED THIS!

Jackie is a genius working for NASA. Flynn is a mechanic with family money who thinks all women are out to use him. Let’s just say he’s not sure how to act to this woman who only wanted to help his sister. They don’t start off on the best terms but Flynn knows when he’s in the wrong and does whatever possible to make it up to her.

I love how different Flynn and Jackie are. It’s nice to see real life issues play out and actually worked through. Rose and Trisha were so fun and I love how good of friends they are to Jackie. Ahh I just loved this so much! Highly recommend!

This was adorable. Some parts got a little too science intense- hard to keep all the different NASA acronyms straight. But it wasn’t to bad to skim and get the gist of everything.
I laughed and gawked my way through this. I pumped my fist and rolled my eyes. All of it was a pretty enjoyable read.

I sped through this pretty quick. The whole thing kept my attention with spice, backstory, and storyline.

18+ spicy, check content warnings

Or will it be a failure to launch?

This was a fun lighthearted romance. Steamy moments and a powerful woman in STEM MC.

Overall rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Spicy level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️

A fun, quirky, spicy read, with a smart badass main character and great supporting characters.
Some of the characters felt super cliche and over the top, (see: Flynn's ex-gf), and a lot of the spacey NASA explanations were a bit confusing and overwhelming at first, but were explained pretty well. I read this pretty quickly, it was fast-paced, funny and the NASA storyline was super interesting.

I will say one thing that the author uses the word 'midget' quite a lot to make fun of a character who is petite/small, I'm surprised this hasnt been changed or addressed? Since this was released previously in 2020 and the word is considered a derogatory slur 🤔

Jackie Darling Lee is an awkward and adorable LITERAL genius who works for NASA but lacks any kind of social life. Enter her best friend Julie - an astronaut currently orbiting Earth who is determined to get Jackie to loosen up and live a little.
I liked the sweet romance and over the top antics of this book and thought the side characters were lovely. A fun great read that doesn't take itself too seriously

Well, this book was a surprise because I wasn't expecting to like this as much as I did. It was fun, sweet and sexy. A whip-smart woman meets a billionaire in disguise of a mechanic and sparks fly between them. Jackie was quirky and adorable while Flynn had been hurt before and didn't want to reveal his real identity at first. It gave off plenty of the "opposites attract" vibes because Jackie being described as a nerd was obviously so smart and knowledgeable while Flynn sometimes couldn't decipher what she rambled about but still listened to her and paid attention. Jackie & Flynn had great chemistry and this was overall a very cute and light read. The only complaint I have is that the conflict (OW drama) felt forced and came out of nowhere. Also the disaster that happened to Jackie's friend took almost two chapters to get resolved and I lost my interest after that part tbh. The epilogue was the saving grace though. I liked the side characters and the next book is going to be about Flynn's brother and Jackie's friend which I'm looking forward to.

QOTD: Have you ever visited NASA?
My A: No, but I'd LOVE to!! I think watching a space launch would be a ridiculously cool experience!
.
As my first Sara L. Hudson novel, I went into this with zero expectations. I ended up really loving almost everything about this book! I'll start with what I did love:
A FMC in STEM, NASA at that 😍
A MMC not afraid to communicate exactly how he's feeling and what he's thinking
A side cast of hilarious characters I will definitely be reading about in future books
Witty banter
Hot steamy scenes

Things I didn't love:
The MMC is supposed to be MEGA rich, but other than talking about it, we're never actually SHOWED this. We are his house and his car in small doses, but you could've said he had $3 and I don't think I'd know the difference.
The MMC made some annoying comments about women mentioning their lack of intelligence and their "gold digging" ways. It's 2022, STOP writing this into books, please! Woman supporting woman also means female authors writing female characters without comparing them to each other.
The drama was a *little* over the top, but I'm not reading to stay in reality. 😜
.
Contrary to what the above list may come across as, I really did love this book and the characters and I'm definitely open to picking up more books from this author in the future!
