The Arrangement was actually a pretty good book. There were no boring places...the action of the plot moved swiftly and although I sometimes wondered why certain people met up with others in a staged way it all made the rest of the story work. I recommend them book. It is well written with a complex main character.

Wow, I did not see that twist at the end coming!! I LOVE that, it's my favorite! I have now decided to add Miranda Rijks to my always-read list and add all her books to my TBR! At first, I wasn't sure where this story was heading but once we got going I was all in!

This is a good thriller that does keep your attention and keeps you turning those pages as fast as you possibly can.
Grace is going through every parent’s worst nightmare. Her daughter, Abi, went on a vacations and there she was murdered. Grace thought her daughter was the model student and daughter but she soon finds out that Abi was living a secret life.
Grace is consumed with grief and as such her old vices come back into her life. Drinking, smoking, she’s a mess. When she goes to Abi’s dorm, she finds designer clothing and that her daughter had been taking trips to London.
Grace is desperate for answers to help her figure out why her daughter is dead. She goes into detective mode of sorts and begins looking into anything she possibly can to help her find out why Abbi was murdered. Then the threats begin…
This is a good book. I received a copy of the audio from NetGalley and I absolutely love the narrator. However, something very early on in the story actually gives the end away. I don’t know if I would recommend the audio simply for that reason. Still, the narrator has a fantastic voice and brings the story to life.
Other than that bit up there I really did like this story. It’s twisted all up and easily holds your interest. So, I would say that I recommend the book but I’m not sure about the audio for one simple reason.

I also felt that author did a superb job of portraying the family angst/turmoil resulting from the murder of a loved one.

Although there were twists, turns, and red herrings, I was able to guess the ending mid-way through the book.

I listened to the audiobook read by Jilly Bond. At times, the narrator sounded whiny but, overall, the narration was good but not great.

I am a huge fan of author Miranda Rijks and I look forward to listening to her future titles.

3.5 stars rounded down

Imagine receiving the worst call you could ever get in your life = you’re child is dead. When Grace hears this news about her 21 year old daughter Ali, she is devastated. She can’t comprehend how this happened to Ali who was on holiday in South Africa with friends. Or at least that’s what she told her mom….Grace can’t let it go but as she digs deeper into Ali’s life in search of answers, she discovers secrets her daughter kept. Many secrets.

The premise of this book was impactful for me. There were undertones of discomfort and guilt which kept me connected to the plot in a visceral way. The unraveling of Grace hit a chord in me and I empathized with this character‘S plight. I just wish Grace’s emotional experience had gone deeper and I wanted to experience more character vulnerability. The alcohol angle ended up being a barrier for the reader to feel what Grace was going through.

There were many twists and discoveries along the way. In order to avoid spoilers I will only say that I enjoyed where the storyline went. It was a fascinating descent into an alternate lifestyle. However, the plot stalled for me at times as the main character went in circles, reliving and replaying what she found out about her daughter.

In all, it was a solid audiobook with some pops of suspense and a surprising reveal at the end. A gracious thank you to Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for an advanced audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

The Arrangement was a great read by Miranda Rijks. Abi had to die because of her secret life. Her mother Grace, is living every mother’s worst nightmare. Her daughter went away on a dream vacation, and was murdered. Grace is fighting off her old demons who have resurfaced. She tries to figure out who would want to kill her daughter. In her search for answers, she realizes that she didn’t know her daughter very well. Her daughter had designer clothes that they couldn’t afford, and went on mysterious trips to the city. Someone doesn’t want Grace digging into Abi’s secrets and they send her on a journey to the darkest hell. I enjoyed reading this book and can’t wait to read more by the author.

I usually like this author, but found this story to be just "ok." It had a decent storyline, but towards the end I'd guessed what was going to happen. I wouldn't recommend this.

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media. I have picked up a few Miranda Rijks books this month and was excited to get this one as well. The story surrounds single mother Grace, he beautiful college daughter is killed on vacation and she is left to make sense of her death. She finds so many mysteries surrounding her daughter Abi's death and none of it makes sense. She becomes neurotic, suspicious and obsessed with finding out who her daughter was and who killed her.

I really enjoyed this book and it kept me guessing until the very end.

Rounded up from 3.75 stars. Big thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to review the audiobook. I enjoyed the narrators voice when she was speaking as Grace, but I feel there other characters should have had someone other than Jilly Bond as their voices. A bit unbelievable, but that probably adds to the suspenseful ending.

Thank you to Netgalley, Miranda Rijks, and Dreamscape Media for an advance listening copy of this book in exchange for an honest review! I have been working my way through Mirandas work and this was another great one to add to my list. I found myself deeply immersed in this storyline while trying to figure out what happened to our main characters daughter. I enjoyed the "sugar baby" aspect of this one as I havent seen it often in books. The narrator did a great job conveying the plot and captivating the audience with their voice. I look forward to more from this author in the future!

This book was almost a miss for me, I've quite enjoyed reading this author but this one was not as exciting. Until I got to the twist at the end, which I had partly figured out, but enjoyed it, nontheless.

Reading Between the Wines book review #71/135 for 2022:
Rating: 3 ½ 🍷 🍷 🍷
Book 🎧: The Arrangement
Author: Miranda Rijks
Genre: Mystery & Thrillers
Available now!

Sipping thoughts: The Arrangement is a story of deceit and secrets. Unfortunately, Grace is battling her own demons, but she is in Mama Bear mode and not allowing her daughter’s death to go unsolved. I figured out what happened and who the killer was but to see Grace uncover all the secrets was worth waiting on the reveal. I really enjoy Rijks writing, and I can speed through her books because they are so thrilling.

Cheers and thank you to @NetGalley and @DreamscapeMedia for an advanced copy of @TheArrangement.

I am on a roll with all of these "The Arrangement" book titles. This one didn't disappoint! I really thought I had it figured out, but I did NOT! I like reading stories when a parent, sibling, child, etc. pursues the truth at all costs when it comes to their loved one. Despite the MC's alcoholism and grief, she kept pressing for the truth. It was a fast paced listen, although the narrator's attempt at a man's voice often made me chuckle. I would recommend this to others!

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC audiobook, in exchange for my honest opinion.
