I can’t even describe how much i loved this series, since the first chapter of the mistborn era2 till the end wax and wayne were my heroes of all time.
The lost metal showed such amazing setting, and the story was full of joy and heartbreak, and in the end i didn’t know what to say, because the pain was to fresh for me.

It is so nice to be back in this world. I’ve read all of the previous Mistborn books, both Era 1 and Era 2, but going into The Lost Metal I could only remember a vague sketch of what happened in them. As with all of Sanderson’s books, I was able to jump into this one and have a basic understanding of what was going on without rereading, but the farther I got into the excerpt, the more I felt that I at least needed a recap.

In the several years since the last book, lots of changes have taken place, and it was nice to see the passage of time mirrored in the novel. For example, Wax is now the father of two young children, and things have progressed in Scadrial following the events of The Bands of Mourning.

Even with these changes, the plot still follows a pattern that is typical for Sanderson and this era of the Mistborn novels. We are drawn in with the prologue. This time it’s a glimpse into Wayne’s childhood and experiences with his family as a young boy. We then jump to the story’s present, with Wax’s current work in the Scadrial Senate.

I think my favorite part so far has just been experiencing Wayne again. He is so quirky and funny, making him one of the most endearing Cosmere characters as far as I’m concerned. I also love the way Michael Kramer does his voice in the audiobooks.

This preview was a great way to jump back into the world of Mistborn. I’ve already purchased the full audiobook and can’t wait to see how it ends.

Thank you to Netgalley, Tor, and Brandon Sanderson for access to these chapters.

Great preview of this upcoming release. Definitely looking forward to reading the book in it's entirety. This works very well with strategically setting things up while leaving the bigger aspects to the full release.

My God, what a joy it is to be back in this world. I expected that I would enjoy this but this 10-chapter sample has me sooooooooo excited for the release. I cannot wait to see what is in store. I can already tell this is going to have Cosmere implications.

Thank you to Netgalley for the chance to read the first ten chapters of this in advance! I was apprehensive about this book, but now that I've read the first ten chapters I am very excited to be able to dive into the rest of it as soon as possible. Sanderson set up this book excellently, I've already been shocked into giggles, horrified, and already I'm attached to some new characters with my whole being. Here's to Marasi, Wax, Wayne, Steris, and everyone else!

This was a great excerpt, I enjoyed getting a taste of the story. These opening chapters have my interest, and I'm so excited for the book to be released to read the rest of the book! Can't wait to see where the story goes from here!

Brandon Sanderson is a master of fiction, and I cannot wait to read the full version of this much-anticipated novel. Anyone who has kept up with the Mistborn series and the Cosmere will love this addition to their collection.

I did really enjoy reading this preview! It’s a fun series and there just aren’t that many weird westerns out there. 6 years I think since the last book and I has zero trouble falling right back into the world and the characters. Excellent start to another promising book that hits the ground running.

The Lost Metal has been number one on my TBR list for years. I was given a chance to read the first 10 chapters by Tor Books and what a tease! Like a lot of readers the Mistborn series was my gateway into Brandon Sanderson and the Cosmere universe. I’m emotionally hooked on Wax, Wayne, Marasi, and the rest of the crew. I am so thankful to have had the chance to get a preview of the first 10 chapters of The Lost Metal and I need the rest right now!

Thank you #Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Great introductory chapters to a highly anticipated book. I was surprised that it is now about 6 years after the events of Bands of Mourning but quickly saw why that was needed. I loved getting a glimpse of Wax and Steris's life together now with two small children. Wax is a great father and you can tell he loves being in that role for his son Max.

Seeing Marasi and Wayne working together was a lot of fun. Seriously they are a great team so far. I do long to see Allik in the book and see how Marasi and his relationship has evolved over the years.

Can't wait to read the rest!

What an honor to be able to read the first 10 chapters early! Brandon Sanderson completely transformed my reading of fantasy. I enjoy his writing so much and cannot wait for the release!

I mean…. It’s freaking Brandon Sanderson how can this not be five stars?? I was incredibly excited when I got this ARC and I was not disappointed. I will say that I probably needed to do a reread of the last book because it’s simply been a long time since I read it and I couldn’t quite remember some of things that happened but I wasn’t too lost along the way. I can’t wait to be able to read this whole book.

The Lost Metal by Brandon Sanderson
Earc:NetGalley
Publisher:
Macmillan-Tor/Forge, Tor Books
Publication Date: 15 Nov 2022
Genre:Sci Fiction and Fantasy

Brandon Sanderson is a fine writer, and this lengthy excerpt (I wish I had known that before asking) whetted my appetite even more. In fact, I'm ready to re-read the original trilogy for clues as to what happens. The length of the dance since was published), there have been many changes in the land of Elendelle. Wax was a family man and politician, Malasi and Wayne were now partners, and society was changed by its dealings with the now-mighty South Continent.Wayne's narration from POV is still fun to laugh at , Sanderson does Akzo's job with the ever-changing voice of the character.
I'm sure there's more to this novel, but unfortunately this excerpt is coming to an end.

Thanks to the publisher and her Netgalley for giving me the chance to read a preview of this book.
#TheLostMetal #Netgalley was surprised that ARC only included his first 10 chapters for review. I find this difficult because it's a short segment. Now you know what the extended excerpt means. Yes, I already like the story, so I give it 5 stars. What if you don't like the end of this block of the Mistborn series?

With that caveat... let's get started.

Wax and Wayne is his one of my favorite character duos. They're funny on a whole new level. Hats off to you, Mr. Sanderson.

The prologue focuses on Wayne and I loved watching him and his interactions on this site.

I wonder if Wayne is the main character of this book, Wax or Detective Marasi. The explanation seemed to focus on Wax. So it's a mystery to be solved when we can read more.

I love how we are drawn into this world and the detective partnership between Malasi and Wayne as they struggle with their problems. Of course I laugh while cheering. It's also interesting to see how the characters use their metal talents. I love how you know how much you can handle in a chapter.

Yes - we are already established. Highly recommended for readers.

Brandon Sanderson is one of my favorite authors and i really really love to the cosmere. The lost metal is the last book of the second era of mistborn, and as far as I've read, is insane!!
Love Wayne e Wax and all the side characters, and get anticipated chapters has hyped me to read this book this year yet.

I loved this extended excerpt (first 10 chapters). The 6 year time jump is great. These chapters were exciting, I blew through them and didn't want to put it down. I love seeing how the characters have changed since we last saw them. I really liked seeing Marasi and Wayne team up! The stakes feel very high and I am excited to see what happens in the remainder of the book.

I received an ARC (of the first 10 chapters) in exchange for my honest opinion. My thanks goes to NetGalley and Tor Books for this opportunity.

Off the top, I have to say, I was surprised the ARC only included the first 10 chapters for review—I find this difficult because it's such a short segment. Now we know what an extended excerpt means. And yes, I'm giving it 5 stars because I love the story already—but how do I know how I'll feel by the end? What if I hate the ending of this block of the Mistborn series?

With that caveat...let's get into it.

Wax and Wayne are one of my favorite duo of characters. They're funny on an entire new level. I doff my cap to you, Mr. Sanderson.

The prologue focuses on Wayne, and I adored seeing him and his interactions on that page. It also deepens our understanding of him.

I'm going to be curious to find out if Wayne is the primary protagonist in this book or Wax or Detective Marasi. The description seemed to focus on Wax. So that's a mystery to solve once I get to read more.

I love how we're brought into this world and the detective partnership with Marasi and Wayne struggling through a problem. Of course, I'm cheering and laughing at the same time. The developments in how the characters are using their talents from metal is also interesting. I love how I'm both thrown into the world, reminded of past events, and given just how much I can handle on each page and chapter to see the world open before me. Masterfully done.

Yes—we already established, I would highly recommend this to readers. (But read the others first.)

After reading these first 10 chapters I am even more anxious for this book's release than I was before. It's been a while since I read book 6, so there's some details I didn't readily recall, but I felt like the early chapters of this book did a good job of reminding me what was going on in the plot without too much retreading of previously covered territory. I was quickly drawn into the plot and frustrated when I got to the end of chapter 10, and thus must wait until the full book releases to finish the story. Like many people, I prefer Era 1 over Era 2, but so far this looks to be a fun read!

The first ten chapters of The Lost Metal were absolutely amazing! It feels so good to be back in the Mistborn world. It seems like a lot happened in the six year time jump between The Bands of Mourning and The Lost Metal and things are starting to heat up so I cannot wait to get my hands on the novel November 15th.
