Era 2 wasn't my personal favourite, but this was a nice ending nonetheless.

Well, here we are, the end of Mistborn era 2. Not gonna lie, I have some mixed feelings both about this book and the series as a whole.

I don't think I'm alone with this, but era 2 wasn't my favourite subseries in the Cosmere. The overall tone of these books didn't really speak to me and while I can appreciate them for adding new layers to the history of Scadrial, they are not particularly close to my heart.

With that said, I think this was a great ending to this story arc. I really enjoyed how Sanderson managed to continue the character growth of the main cast, giving more page time to the women, and elaborating on the past of the men. Their interactions were super entertaining to read and seeing them form a little family was heartwarming.

Sadly I wasn't blown away by the plot, which is usually the strong point of Sanderson books imo. While it was exciting to see the story intertwine with other worlds in the Cosmere, the core conflict was more on the predictable side.

I'm happy I read this book but it's not a favourite for me. On the other hand, it was successful at making me super excited for the next Mistborn era as well as Stormlight 5 😍

Classic Sanderson! That was a good last book of this series, I'd say as a reader he did very well in creating a universe in itself. Would totally recommend this series to anyone who likes to dive deep into the fantasy realms and likes to get sucked into it, characters feel very real and i will miss them all but books can be reread and this one will be! Worth all the waiting for it

It's incredible to be back to Scadrial but I definitely wasn't ready to say goodbye.
I loved how much Wayne and Steris there was in this, and how Cosmere-aware this book was.
While it was definitely all about Mistborn Era II, I could see how this book was going to play a much bigger part of this story we are all so excited to unravel.

Hats off, Mr. Sanderson. This was one for the ages.

While the whole "cowboy" vibes isn't my thing, I can't deny that the characters are very likeable!

The addition of guns and detective work to this world and magic has been really interesting and I need to get my ends on the full book to see how it ends!

The preview chapters are so good! This is one of my most anticipated reads of 2022, and Sanderson did not disappoint!

I received the first 10 chapters in exchange for an honest review via NetGalley.

3.5

It's been a while since I read the first 6 books in this series so I was worried that there would be things I missed but I think the first 10 chapters do a good job of reminding the reader of what has happened so far without completely recapping it. I was able to quite quickly fall back into this world and these characters.

This book takes place 6 years after the end of the previous book. I loved getting to see Wax and Steris's life and their children though I did find the alternating POVs between that and Wayne and Marasi's investigation to be a little choppy. This sample seems to end right before Wax gets filled in on the investigation though so I'm going to mostly blame that on the (re)introduction to the world/setting the stage for the plot of this book.

This sample did an excellent job of making me excited to pick up the rest of the book! I cannot wait to see how Brandon Sanderson ends this era of Mistborn and if we get to see more larger Cosmere connections. That being said, I can already feel that (like with the rest of Era 2 and Warbreaker) the humor is going to be Not For Me but I'm hoping I'm wrong!

I can’t even describe how much i loved this series, since the first chapter of the mistborn era2 till the end wax and wayne were my heroes of all time.
The lost metal showed such amazing setting, and the story was full of joy and heartbreak, and in the end i didn’t know what to say, because the pain was to fresh for me.

It is so nice to be back in this world. I’ve read all of the previous Mistborn books, both Era 1 and Era 2, but going into The Lost Metal I could only remember a vague sketch of what happened in them. As with all of Sanderson’s books, I was able to jump into this one and have a basic understanding of what was going on without rereading, but the farther I got into the excerpt, the more I felt that I at least needed a recap.

In the several years since the last book, lots of changes have taken place, and it was nice to see the passage of time mirrored in the novel. For example, Wax is now the father of two young children, and things have progressed in Scadrial following the events of The Bands of Mourning.

Even with these changes, the plot still follows a pattern that is typical for Sanderson and this era of the Mistborn novels. We are drawn in with the prologue. This time it’s a glimpse into Wayne’s childhood and experiences with his family as a young boy. We then jump to the story’s present, with Wax’s current work in the Scadrial Senate.

I think my favorite part so far has just been experiencing Wayne again. He is so quirky and funny, making him one of the most endearing Cosmere characters as far as I’m concerned. I also love the way Michael Kramer does his voice in the audiobooks.

This preview was a great way to jump back into the world of Mistborn. I’ve already purchased the full audiobook and can’t wait to see how it ends.

Thank you to Netgalley, Tor, and Brandon Sanderson for access to these chapters.

Great preview of this upcoming release. Definitely looking forward to reading the book in it's entirety. This works very well with strategically setting things up while leaving the bigger aspects to the full release.

My God, what a joy it is to be back in this world. I expected that I would enjoy this but this 10-chapter sample has me sooooooooo excited for the release. I cannot wait to see what is in store. I can already tell this is going to have Cosmere implications.

Thank you to Netgalley for the chance to read the first ten chapters of this in advance! I was apprehensive about this book, but now that I've read the first ten chapters I am very excited to be able to dive into the rest of it as soon as possible. Sanderson set up this book excellently, I've already been shocked into giggles, horrified, and already I'm attached to some new characters with my whole being. Here's to Marasi, Wax, Wayne, Steris, and everyone else!

This was a great excerpt, I enjoyed getting a taste of the story. These opening chapters have my interest, and I'm so excited for the book to be released to read the rest of the book! Can't wait to see where the story goes from here!

Brandon Sanderson is a master of fiction, and I cannot wait to read the full version of this much-anticipated novel. Anyone who has kept up with the Mistborn series and the Cosmere will love this addition to their collection.

I did really enjoy reading this preview! It’s a fun series and there just aren’t that many weird westerns out there. 6 years I think since the last book and I has zero trouble falling right back into the world and the characters. Excellent start to another promising book that hits the ground running.

The Lost Metal has been number one on my TBR list for years. I was given a chance to read the first 10 chapters by Tor Books and what a tease! Like a lot of readers the Mistborn series was my gateway into Brandon Sanderson and the Cosmere universe. I’m emotionally hooked on Wax, Wayne, Marasi, and the rest of the crew. I am so thankful to have had the chance to get a preview of the first 10 chapters of The Lost Metal and I need the rest right now!

Thank you #Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Great introductory chapters to a highly anticipated book. I was surprised that it is now about 6 years after the events of Bands of Mourning but quickly saw why that was needed. I loved getting a glimpse of Wax and Steris's life together now with two small children. Wax is a great father and you can tell he loves being in that role for his son Max.

Seeing Marasi and Wayne working together was a lot of fun. Seriously they are a great team so far. I do long to see Allik in the book and see how Marasi and his relationship has evolved over the years.

Can't wait to read the rest!
