Finally!! The return of Wax and Wayne!!
This is only an excerpt, so it can be difficult to rate only a small portion of the novel. I also am not going to summarize as I don't want to spoil anything about this Era2 conclusion. Just know that the prologue is heartbreaking and there were several laugh out loud moments between Wayne and Marasi. I adore Wayne and I adore Era2 so very much!! I am both so excited and also very sad that we will be leaving all these marvelous characters behind.
Thanks to Tor Books and Netgalley for the ARC.

I just finished reading the first 10 chapters that have been made available before publish. I will certainly be updating my review once I've read the rest.

Over all, I enjoyed them, and I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the book in November. I'm excited to see Brandon finally deliver on all that has been set up about Trell since Alloy of Law. The sample chapters delivered plenty to get me excited about what they're setting up.

That said, they were still a bit rough, especially towards the beginning. Similarly to Rhythm of War, there was a significant time skip between Bands of Mourning and The Lost Metal, this time 6 years. The political landscape of Scadrial has changed quite a bit in those years, given the discovery of the southern continent and their technologies, but most of that change is communicated through some rather clumsy exposition.
There's a fair share of other clumsiness, though most of it I forgive, first because it's Wax and Wayne (which almost requires some clumsiness) and second because (I think) Brandon is still recovering from the retirement of his longtime editor.

What I will not forgive, however, is the fact that Waxillium Ladrian's 6yo son is named Maxillium Ladrian, what the hell kind of reverse Wario bullshit is this, I will die mad.

I requested this in a hurry when I found it and didn't notice it was an Extended Excerpt until I opened up to read it. This was disappointing. But I persisted.

It's been so long since I read the previous volume in the series that I was afraid I might be completely lost. Especially since I had read the Mistborn trilogy in the interim. It did take a couple of chapters to get back into the rhythm of Wax and Wayne's world and rediscover who was who. But I was soon captivated by the characters and intrigued by the adventure.

I look forward to reading the full story when it comes out.

Thankyou Netgalley for providing me a part of the book The Lost metal to read.

I just found out about the Wax and Wayne series a while back and was able to read them this week. Luckily i was able to read a few chapters of an unedited version of The lost Metal from Netgalley. Frankly I cant wait for the book to get published so i can read it. From what ive read we get a glimpse into Waynes past. I have adored him from the start and now even more so. Wax is a senator now and a bill is being passed which might not be favourable for places outside Elendel. Marasi and Wayne have found weapons and food illegally being sent to another city, and The Set is upto no good. I think the book will be published this November, ThankGod i wont have to wait long for it!

Sanderson continues to immediately draw you in and leave you wanting more. If you haven't had a chance to reread the previous books in the series, this novel does a great job bringing familiar characters in early and often. Appreciated this excerpt and looking forward to reading the novel in its entirety soon!

Sanderson can do no wrong. Seriously. I haven't been disappointed with one of his books in a long, long time. This is a snippet of the latest Mistborn era 2 book -- a mere 10 chapters that were simply Not Enough. I've been waiting for this book for YEARS so to have it be this close is really exciting.

It appears as if there's a time jump between this book at the last, so it took a bit to figure out where everyone stands. I do love the bit of young Wayne we get at the beginning of the book -- it's a nice insight as to where he gets himself from. I also really loved seeing Wax with his children. I can't wait to get the rest of this one. Thank you, Tor, for sharing this!

This preview was exactly what I needed - how excited am I to be back in this amazing world that Sanderson has created!

Such a great opener with young Wayne (who is one of my favorite characters of all time) and his shining personality, even as a young lad. But really, all the characters are so special and multi-dimensional and I am so excited to see what happens.

This teaser was a treat, but at the same time, an absolute tease. So looking forward to this!! :)

This preview has me excited for the book to come out!! Wax and his gang are back and Wayne with all his antics. Can’t wait to read the entire book. Need to brush up on all my Mistborn series.
Reserving 5 star rating after i’ve read the entire book!

Thank you Netgalley for the preview.

Wow. I can’t wait to read more! The timeskip was a bit jarring at first and seemed almost unnecessary but I love little Max so much that it’s okay. Im hoping for more of Steris (and I’m sure she’ll play a bigger role for the rest of the book) since she really grew in the last book. I am a bit worried that the rest will feel rushed with everything that is building up. Unless it’s not all resolved in this era? Overall, writing was fantastic as always for Sanderson.

Another fantastic opener from Sanderson. If you have read any of Sanderson's books before, especially the Mistborn novels, not much will suprise you about the format, and style of prose here. We have more bad Wayne jokes, gripping characters, and a whole heap of intrigue in the form of a looming conspiracy. Whilst regular fans will settle right in, there are also plenty of suprises on offer, with a large tilt towards revelations involving Sanderson's shared universe. Tense, funny, accessible, and most all of all, heartfelt, this was an fantastic return to the world of Scadrial and i look forward to finishing the entire book upon release.

This was not the full book, but an extended excerpt. I love Sanderson and most of what he does. I was very interested to see Wax and Wayne and Steris and everyone again. I can't wait to read the entire book! Its gonna be a great end to this era of Mistborn. Would highly recommend!

When I learned that I could request this novel for an advanced reader copy, I nearly fell out of my chair. When the publisher granted me access, I almost cried with excitement. That is what Brandon Sanderson's novels are capable of doing to his fans. Though this novel is incredibly short (for a Sanderson novel), it adds so much depth to the world that Sanderson built in his Mistborn saga. I feel like I learned a lot about the way the magic system works, the world, and also some interesting characters. Honestly, I never get tired of reading Sanderson's novels because he's a master of his craft, successfully doing things that some writers only dream of executing. Sanderson has been dropping small slivers of works set in the Mistborn world for years, always adding some complexity that readers didn't know about before. Everytime I read one of the extension novels, I want to go back and re-read the Mistborn saga because there's something that I missed. I think people don't give enough credit to Sanderson. He's brilliant, and he's one of the best living fantasy writers of all time. I will continue to read anything he puts out, and I suggest all follow suit.

As always excellent writing. Since this was.only a ten chapter preview I'll wait until I have read the full book to proper rate and review. I have no doubt that it will be five stars. It's Sanderson after all.

So fun to read the first part of this book. Can’t wait for the rest! I discovered that I’d forgotten a lot of this series so it was good to have a refresher and take there time to look up wiki summaries.

I read the first 10 chapters of The Lost Metal from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I honestly went in with low expectations. I went back and read the first three books, and while I love Brandon Sanderson as a whole, I realized why I hadn't read the last book of the series.

That said, at least the first ten chapters of this were much more enjoyable. Maybe it was because while Wax is insufferably right all the time still, he fails at what he's doing, and he's not very good at what he's trying to do either. That is, trying to be a politician. It also means more time with Steris, who, against all odds, is my favorite character. It also had some hints of actually getting more real history about Wayne, who while he can be "quirky" sometimes his "genuine" moments, can also be irritating. But his need to steal and his love of heroes has always made him an interesting character to at least know more about.

So, despite the three books before this almost killing my interest in this fourth book and world, this long teaser has brought back my interest. It does hint at going right back to action, but maybe a little more thought has gone into the politics and backstory of it all after his other series.

We'll see in November.

As usual, Sanderson’s story telling is compelling and full of endearing, multi-dimensional characters. Cannot wait to read the rest of this one!

I love Wax and Wayne, in my opinion, their story is the better of the two Mistborn series. I love Wayne’s ridiculousness and this teaser did not disappoint. Really looking forward to getting my hands on the full novel!

5/5 stars.

I was torn about reading this preview or waiting for the full book to drop. But I'm glad I decided to sneak this preview. The prologue of Wayne's childhood is so impactful and explains a lot about who Wayne is at a person. I also found I got a lot out of even the Acknowledgements, hear how Brandon Sanderson wanted to use Era 1 as a foundation for religion in Era 2 right from the conceptual idea of the series is interesting.

Safe to say I can't wait for the full conclusion to Mistborn Era 2.

I won't be posting a review of the preview but I'll be posting a full Era 2 review when I finish off the Lost Metal.

As all fans of Sanderson's Mistborn series, I eagerly await the latest Wax and Wayne novel. I had a little trouble with the download. Unwittingly, I began reading at chapter 3. Wow. Just goes to show you how important a good storyteller (and editor) can be. The book, as started in the proper place is a promising beginning to the final (?) book in this series, Solid writing, winning characters, and I cannot wait to grab the entire book.

Let's go Sanderson.

How am I supposed to wait for the publication now?
This was a really bad idea, but I don't regret it for a second. It's everything I expected and more, with just the right level of tension to keep you intrigued for the rest of the book. What do I do now?
