Absolutely yes! I really enjoyed reading this novel. The characters were fun, it held my interest, and provided an escape from reality. I would definitely recommend!

This book in 3 words: Darling. Intriguing. Delightful.

Liv and Ransom reconnect after their hit teen show, Girl on the Verge, gets a reunion special and possible reboot. Getting the cast together, as adults, after they spent so much of their adolescence together proves both rewarding and problematic. What will happen on set?

A great example of a book pulling you in right from the opening pages. The Reunion is a wonderful compilation of friends to lovers and second chance romance. I'm also really enjoying anything that dabbles with celebrities, so this book hit the spot.

Mostly character driven, Olson crafts 2 loveable characters that I couldn't get enough. Liv and Ransom are easy to root for and exciting enough to keep your attention up until the last page. There's also endearing side characters, which complete the literal cast, and keep the plot interesting. I also loved the mixed media aspect. The interviews and blogs throughout the chapters introduce another layer to the story that works in the best way.

This book will have you laughing, crying (if you're like me), and craving a rewatch of one of your favorite teen shows. Perfect for fans of One Tree Hill, Dawson's Creek, and The OC. I enjoyed it and could see myself rereading in the future.

I received an early copy in exchange for an honest review. I'll post my review closer to the publication date.

If you like heartwarming, friends to estranged to lovers stories, then The Reunion is the book for you!

Kayla Olson writes a lovely story about Liv and Ransom, once teens on a hit TV show turned estranged adults meeting again at the much-anticipated reunion for their show. Once they see one another again, sparks fly.

The Reunion is a great second chance at love story that is sure to please fans of love. It gets a 3.5/5 for me. Thank you for the opportunity to read and review The Reunion. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This was a perfect little Love story! I love the friends to lover tropes and the past love interest becomes the love of your life trope. This one was super cute. Reminded me of my fave 90’s sitcoms….this actually would make a cute Netflix special.

The Reunion was a cute read I’d recommend for anyone who loves pop culture and a cute love story! Some parts did feel a little dragged on and I wish Ransom was a little more developed/back story to make you really, really root for him. Overall recommend!

Thanks to NetGalley and Atria for the ARC. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.
And this is why I don't usually read "Hollywood" stories. I was hoping this was a Gilmore-Girls-Rory-and-Jess get together in real life type of story. Sadly, not even close. There was not a single character in this book that I liked. No chemistry between Liv and Ransom. I just didn't care what happened to any of them. I really should have DNF'd it and saved myself the time. Lots of good reviews on Goodreads so I'm definitely in the minority.

A sweet second chance romance under the glare of Hollywood lights. The Reunion brings back Liv and Ransom to a reunion of their teen show, Girl on the Verge. They had a budding romance but lost it and lost track of each other. The chemistry is still bubbling and now may be the time for them at long last.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Child stars turned best friends turned acquaintances-at-best come together for the reunion of their incredibly popular TV show called "Girl on the Verge" 16 years after it's final season. Kind of like a Saved By The Bell or Friends reunion but better.

3.5 stars!

Plot Summary:

"Girl on the Verge" was a ground-breaking teen drama that was beyond its time and broke records like no other. Made up of a cast of young newbies to Hollywood, the cast grew up with each other and was filled with strong friendships, rivalries and blossoming love.

The main characters of the show are played by Liv Latimer and Ransom Joel (a name that made me burst out laughing - and yeah, that's his real name), who become best friends while on the show with a possibility of something more.

When the show ends on a cliffhanger (what kind of torture) about whether Liv's character will stay behind in her town with the love of her life or move onto greener pastures - heartbroken fans are left wondering for 14 years what choice she must have made.

They're not the only heartbroken ones. Liv and Ransom, on the verge of being something more, take a completely different direction and remain friends instead. When they reunite, sparks fly once again.

Review:

Tropes in The Reunion:
- Second chance romance
- Friends to lovers
- Hollywood drama
- Professional rivalries
- Miscommunication

I really loved the premise of this story! The drama and intrigue of having a second chance romance set in Hollywood? Yeah - that sounded like drama tenfold.

The characters were fantastic and my favourite part of the entire book. Both Ransom and Liv were so easy to root for! Everytime I thought 'this is it - they're gonna get together again', the author was diabolical and kept me waiting.

I enjoyed Liv's POV on her relationship with the industry and Ransom. You can tell that she's nervous about joining a big named show again after working on indie projects for so long but she's so graceful and poised in the limelight. When she's on her own or with her close friends, she falls apart and lets herself feel. And boy does she still feel *very* strongly about Ransom Joel.

Ransom also came off so strong with his interest in Liv (which I think has some drawbacks I'll discuss later) and that was so refreshing. There was no cat and mouse to leave Liv stumbling - Ransom was showing up with twinkling eyes, compliments and enough blushes for our heroine to know what's up. The pain and regrets that come later are very difficult for both, but that undercurrent of passion stayed throughout.

And Ford and Bre! Two side characters that I absolutely loved and felt were great supports to the main characters and comedic relief to the story as a whole. I almost wish there was an extra chapter or epilogue about them. It felt like there was a potential something for them on the horizon.

The Hollywood drama was really fun to keep up with as well! The author did a great job of intercepting the chapters with gossip rag articles and blog posts. The drama of production, directors, cast and crew and the pressure of the public eye really made the story for me. It kept me and the characters on our toes with no idea about what would change for these celebrities with each plot development.

My main problem with the book is that we got to spend very little time with Ransom and Liv as a couple. The build up was pretty good but when they finally tipped over into officially together territory, their dynamic went a little flat. I find their duo very cute and their initial chemistry was fantastic and held so much promise. It just felt like there was more telling us they had feelings compared to showing us they had feelings and why.

Primarily, I wish we got flashbacks to when they were first together on the show - when they were best friends falling in love. The start of their relationship felt a little hollow without the discussions about their past at the beginning of their reunion or even throughout when they're falling in love again. I think it would have added another level to the romantic build up over all. It picks up again at the end when they come back together but then we don't get to see them get comfortable and grow as a confidently in love couple.

Overall, this was a really quick and fun read! I enjoyed the main cast of characters and a lot and the messiness of Hollywood from the perspective of these actors. This would be a fantastic movie - if there are production houses out there interested.

Thank you so much to Simon & Schuster Canada, Atria Books and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

Liv was a popular teenage star but she retreated to her own private worldafter the death of her father and the betrayal of Ransom her real life best friend/on-screen love interest. Fast forward 20 years later... The original cast is invited back for a reunion special. Liv and Ransom become friends and more...

Love Liv and Ransom. Amazing chemistry. Love their relationship. Very sweet and fun book. No angst or big major drama. A quick fun rom-com.

Thanks to the publisher for the arc.

If you love a good friends to lovers or second chance romance this is for you. I also love a good Hollywood read and this one checked my box. Liv and ransom used to be bffs when they were originally on a teen drama together. The show is going to have a reunion now which makes them all have to reunite again and rekindle their old flame!!

Great read. The romance between Liv and Ransom alongside Duke and Honor kept me wanting to read more to find out how both relationships ended.

Reviewed for NetGalley:

Liv, a former child star, returns to her roots with the reunion tour and reboot of her famous show, Girl on the Verge. Her former costar, Ransom, was her best friend years ago and her first love, but towards the end of the show, they fell apart.

Liv now is returning to the spotlight and wondering if she can return to what she used to have with Ransom.

The characters were enjoyable and believable, even in the realm of Hollywood.

A decent read.

This reminded me of so much of Christina Lauren’s Twice in a Lifetime in the best of ways: teenage crush, first love (unconsummated, in this case), entertainment industry setting, mature love and relationship, plus great writing and all the feels.

Liv Latimer, teen star of the fictional hit television series, Girl on the Verge, took a hiatus from acting then made some excellent independent film choices. It’s been fifteen years since the six year run of the coming of age series concluded, and the producers are getting the band back together for a reunion special that just might lead to a series reboot, which Liv has mixed feelings about. She also has mixed–but strong–feelings about Ransom Joel, the romantic lead and her former BFF. They haven’t spoken beyond a few exchanges since he told her that he was never going to keep a girlfriend if they didn’t tone down her friendship, and she graciously backed off, secretly in love with him, never considering it might have been his subtle plea for a declaration of feelings from her.

Seeing one another again as adults is both comforting and exhilarating. The friendship doesn’t skip a beat, while the romance has a slower but still perfectly paced rhythm. There is plenty of drama, humor and angst around the relationship and the other actors, and the Hollywood setting is fleshed out pretty well with behind the scenes details of managing a very public life. Liv’s relationship with her slightly star-struck assistant is a nice bonus (and might have the bones for a strong star-falls-for-civilian sequel).

This was such a fun and sweet read, it pulled you in and hooked you, in all the right ways. If you love friends to lovers and second chance romance this is definitely the book for you!

I adored the overall plot, all the characters and the use of the blogger posts / interviews and the rumor mill was so different from anything I've ever read; You get super fun articles at the end of each chapter and it rounded out everything that happened one step at a time - giving you a different perspective other than Liv's and I really enjoyed that part of the book. All of the characters were super likable and funny, it made you want to keep reading and not put the book down!

As someone who does not personally follow any celebrity news in real life I thought this might be a little off putting BUT boy was I so wrong! I was right there with how obsessed everyone was with "The Girl on the Verge" cast / reunion / possible reboot of the once incredibly popular show.

Liv and Ransom - once best friends and co-stars lost touch for almost 14 YEARS, but when time came for the 20 year reunion episode it was like no time had passed and they picked up right where they left off, being best friends just like before.... Except this time things got a little steamy ;) I was hooked from the start and wanted to know more about both Liv and Ransom; seeing their chemistry was AMAZING and I loved their relationship [I know you will too!]
Definitely recommend!

The Reunion was a sweet Hollywood love story. It was entertaining but in a slower, quieter way. It almost felt like a slice-of-life book. This second chance romance was pretty low angst, had good character development, and was totally closed door.

This book tells Liv's story. She is a former child star of a hit TV show. These days she is an indie film darling. The story begins as she steps back into her old role for a reunion show. Sparks quickly fly with her older co-star and former best friend, Ransom.

I liked this take on a Hollywood second chances story. I loved that Liv was confident and successful, but also just a really kind person. Ransom was the dreamy leading man who Liv had pined after for years. Their relationship was sweet, but progressed very quickly. I think I would have liked a little more development before they got together. There are lots of supporting characters that add enjoyment to the book. I especially loved Liv's team and the co-stars on the show.

I think this book is mis-marketed with the comparisons to Sally Thorne and Christina Lauren. I would suggest it for fans of Lucy Parker or Sophie Cousens. The Reunion has a slower, less dramatic feel to it. I really enjoyed it but if you are looking for high stakes, spicy, and lots of antics, that's not what you will find here. It's a great, low angst second chance love story!

I'm a sucker for the reality TV trope in romance novels, but I enjoyed this book for more reasons than that alone. It was fresh and fun. A delight.

Cute closed-door romance, with two of my favourite tropes: second chance romance and childhood best friends. Kayla Olson has a great way of writing and just reeling you in with her characters. I don't normally enjoy Hollywood romances, but this one was very well done.
